By Vito Barcelo PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte will hold a one-on-one dialogue with leaders of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines to mend ties with the Catholic Church following his rant against God, Malacañang said Saturday. Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque met Friday night with the Papal Nuncio Gabriel Giordano Caccia where they agreed that both State and Church should work together for the benefit of the people. “It was agreed the President will have a one-on-one dialogue with the President of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines. The Papal Nuncio also welcomes further meetings with the President,” Roque said in a statement. In an interview with ANC on Friday, Briones said the tests on school kids as young as 10 years old would be an administrative nightmare and a violation of children’s rights. She said PDEA’s proposal would entail huge costs of P2.8 billion for Turn to A2

Briones told the Manila Standard via text message that there was “no need for drastic action” against PDEA, which on Friday reiterated its proposal for drug testing on students Grade 4 and up despite Malacanang already supporting the Department of Education’s stand against it. “We are scheduled to meet July 5. We are just following the law, which limits drug testing to high school students,” Briones said. “We are already finalizing the date of our meeting with PDEA and PNP. No need to meet with the President [Rodrigo Duterte] because his instructions were very clear,” the secretary added.
