In a complaint filed with the DOJ, the NBI sought the indictment of Lapeña and others for violating the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act. The NBI also asked the DOJ to administratively charge Lapeña with gross neglect of duty and grave misconduct. “The manifest indifference of Lapeña to the established rules and procedures has led to the release of the shipments,” the NBI said, resulting in a loss of revenues for the government. The container vans carrying assorted ceramic tiles with estimated value of P69 million were illegally withdrawn from the Port of Manila. Oil players rollback pump prices by P2.50 per liter By Alena Mae S. Flores THE country’s oil firm implemented a huge oil price rollback of as much as P2.50 per liter for gasoline effective 6 a.m. Tuesday to reflect the movement of oil prices in the world market. Phoenix Petroleum Philippines announced the biggest price cut of P2.50 per liter for gasoline and P2 per liter for diesel. Petro Gazz cut pump prices the same level as Phoenix.

Other oil companies like Chevron Philippines, which markets the Caltex brand implemented a P2.30 per liter rollback for gasoline, P2 per liter rollback for diesel and P1.85 per cut for kerosene. “Petron will implement the following price rollbacks effective 6 a.m. tomorrow, Nov. 13: P2.30/li for Blaze 100, XCS, and Xtra Advance, P2.00/li for Turbo Diesel and DieselMax, and P1.85/li for kerosene. Recto: Attach ‘jobs odometer’ to budget plan SENATE President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto on Monday called on the government to attach a “jobs odometer” to next year’s P3.757-trillion national budget and pursue other measures to reduce unemployment. FIGHTER JET CRASH. Two crewmen survive the crash on Monday when their US Navy fighter jet crashed in Philippine waters while on routine operations, the crewmen safely recovered by the USS Ronald Reagan search and rescue aircraft, according to authorities.

US fighter jet crashes into PH waters A US Navy fighter jet crashed in Philippine waters while on routine naval operations Monday. A US Navy dispatch said two crewmen of the Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 5 F/-18 survived the crash after ejecting from the aircraft, which had mechanical problems. US Navy authorities said the crew was immediately and safely recovered by the USS Ronald Reagan search and rescue aircraft.

The rescued pilots were taken to the ship for evaluation by navy medical personnel and were declared in good condition. US Navy authorities said the CVW 55 was embarked onboard the USS Ronald Reagan, which was part of the US 7th Fleet area of operations in support of security and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. HE National Bureau of Investigation has asked the Department of Justice to prosecute former Bureau of Customs Commissioner Isidro Lapeña and several unidentified individuals for criminal and administrative offenses in connection with the 105 container vans that were illegally released from the Port of Manila in March by port operator Asian Terminals Inc.

Cruz SOME 96 local government officials— including incumbent congressmen—are likely to face drug charges, Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año said Monday. Año said he would recommend to President Rodrigo Duterte that he make public his watch list of drug suspects, now that the midterm elections are just three months away. He said the Department of the Interior and Local Government and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency were verifying the President’s list of narcopoliticians. Their activities ranged from coddling or tolerating drug dealers to active involvement in the drug trade. Senator Francis Escudero on Monday challenged the PDEA to release the socalled narco-list, or the list of government officials allegedly involved in illegal drugs.
