WEAR
WHAT YOU FEEL By Bernadette Lunas
O
UR teenage to early adulthood could be considered our fashion formative years. During this period we discover various styles, decide which suits our preference and personality, and display a part of ourselves through the clothes we wear.
4 TIPS
TO ENSURE SAFETY DURING DISASTERS NATURAL disasters cannot be controlled, others cannot be predicted. Despite this, and because of this, it’s only important that we take precautionary steps to mitigate its adverse effects. LPG company Solane presents four basic things we must do in our household to ensure that we’re safe and ready once a natural disaster hits us.
More than art, fashion is a language, a self-expression. One’s outfit is more than a fabric that covers his body, it is who he is and what he feels, or as Miuccia Prada once said, “What you wear is how you present yourself to the world.” Such is the theme of this year’s Ayala Malls’ Style Origin. Style Origin is an annual fashion event that showcases the latest trends in clothing and accessories from homegrown and global brands with outlets in Ayala Malls. The fashion event, entitled “Emoticonic by Style Origin,” takes cue from the favorite form of expression of today’s youth: emoticons. Youthful vibe was teeming during the fun fashion show at Greenbelt on Aug. 16. Fresh styles for toddlers, pre-teens, teens, and young adults were showcased during the first leg of Emoticonic by Style Origin. A variety of casual wear, activewear, and semi-formal ensembles from brands including Anne Klein, Asics, Banana Republic, Cotton On, Kikay, Lacoste, Mango, Marc Jacobs, Cotton On Kids, Gingersnaps, Mothercare, Osh Kosh, Marks & Spencer, Miss Selfridge, Onitsuka Tiger, Puma, Religioso, Tommy Hilfiger, Springfield, Topman, Topshop, Warehouse, XOXO, and Zara were highlighted. Prepare an emergency kit
An important step in preparing for unforeseen events is having an emergency kit ready for you and your family. Basic supplies kit should include: a gallon of water per person per day for the next three days, three-day supply of food, flashlight, extra batteries, first aid kit, seven-day supply of medicines, multi-purpose tools, cell phone with chargers, family and emergency contact information, copies of personal documents, extra cash, blankets, maps of the area.

Know what to do in case of fire

Some of the common causes of fire, especially during natural disasters like earthquake, are faulty electrical and gas lines. If you are caught in an establishment engulfed by fire, vacate the area immediately and ask for help. Do not hide in closets and small spaces, and remember to stay low and crawl as it is easier to breathe in a fire if you stay low. Turn to E2
