IN A DECISIVE VICTORY... Unofficial results from the Suffolk County Board of Elections show that Republican/Conservative, James Mazzarella crushed his opponent to win the Suffolk County 3rd Legislative District Special Election that was held on May 25, 2021. Board of Elections results show Mazzarella receiving 3,207 votes or (60.3%) to Kate Browning’s 2,106 votes or (39.6 %). This was an extremely important special election for both parties. Mazzarella, who was endorsed by The South Shore Press for election ran on a families first platform and pledge to work with all levels of government to deliver for the residents of the 3rd LD.

Browning who had served twelve years in the Legislature tried a final comeback of sorts, despite a county term limit law that had been overwhelmingly passed by the voters in 1993. This was a major victory not only for Mazzarella, but also for the Republican Party who fought to promote and protect term limits.
