Carrot Cake Pancakes Rockin’ Dave’s Bistro & Backstage Lounge 661 NE GREENWOOD AVE., BEND ROCKINDAVES.COM You’ve probably seen flavored pancakes on a morning menu, but none quite like the carrot cake pancakes at Rockin’ Dave’s.

The stack of spiced cakes are served with a small scoop of orange ginger ice cream. Yes, ice cream for breakfast! This dish is made with a lot of fresh citrus, and you’ll get the pleasure of taking in that aroma with each bite.

The combination of maple syrup and orange ginger ice cream mimics the cream cheese icing on the traditional dessert, but this breakfast version is a little lighter. You don’t need a lot of syrup or ice cream, either; these pancakes are jam-packed with flavor. After you’ve indulged in this sweet meal, end on a savory note: The cakes are accompanied by aggressively seasoned breakfast potatoes and two eggs made your way.

Turkish Bowl Yachats Farm Store at Yachats Brewing 348 HWY. 101 N., YACHATS YACHATSBREWING.COM This breakfast breaks out of the box—and out of Central Oregon, for that matter. You can find the Turkish bowl at Yachats Brewing on the Oregon coast. A large flatbread smothered with chili butter is used as the backdrop for this dish. The flatbread sits on the bottom of a bowl and is topped with greens, a seasonal pilaf, blocks of feta, greens, cucumbers, chopped tomatoes, house-made fermented purple cabbage and two fried quail eggs.

What makes this dish fun is the combination of flavors and that each bite can be different. The first one could be pilaf with a bit of tart and creamy feta and crisp cucumbers. In the next bite you could tear a spicy piece of flatbread and dip it into the rich yolks of the quail eggs and top it with greens.

To make the Turkish bowl even more delightful, order it with a beermosa, or beer with fresh orange juice. It’s like a mimosa for dudes—but you don’t have to be a dude to love it.
