IT TAKES LITTLE TO BE BIG Today 1-in-3 kids in America are growing up without a sustained, positive adult mentor in their lives . Mentorship remains one of the most powerful tools we have to close the gap between people and possibility.
Who Will Be Their Big?
Our goal is to create 30 new mentoring matches by the end of this year. Every young person deserves someone in their corner, a caring adult who listens, encourages, and believes in them. Across Central Oregon, young people are waiting for that person. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Oregon currently has 80 young people on the waitlist, eagerly waiting for a mentor to step into their lives. For some, having a consistent, trusted adult can mean having someone to talk to after a difficult day, try something new with, celebrate a small victory, or simply spend time together. These everyday moments can become the foundation for a relationship that helps a young person feel seen, supported, and valued. A mentor does not need to have all the answers or make a difference in a single moment. The impact comes from showing up consistently, sharing experiences, listening without judgment, celebrating successes, and being there through the challenges. Whether it is shooting hoops, grabbing a snack, exploring the outdoors, working on a goal, or simply talking, time together creates opportunities for connection and growth. With the support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Oregon, mentors are not expected to do this work alone. We provide the guidance, resources, and ongoing support to help each mentoring relationship grow.

MENTORSHIP CHANGES LIVES This year, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Oregon celebrated six local high school graduates as they reached an exciting new milestone. Thanks to the generosity of Bend Women for Good, each graduate received a laptop to help them take their next step, whether that means college, career training, or entering the workforce. Graduation is a milestone, not an ending. Through Big Futures: Graduation & Beyond, we continue supporting our young people as they navigate what comes next, helping them build the skills, confidence, and connections they need to pursue their goals and thrive beyond high school.
