HEALTH SERVICES THAT THE PEOPLE CAN TRUST
Experienced hand at the wheel
Investment that delivers
The people of Scotland must have reliable health services that they can turn too in their hour of need, and the SNP are focused on investing more into the NHS, as we have seen in the past few years of SNP leadership.

The Right to Healthcare
Suicide Prevention
The SNP will enshrine our belief that everyone should be entitled to free, fair and accessible healthcare services into Scottish Law.
Sadly, suicides remain in today’s Scotland. The SNP seek to prevent suicides with more funding to mental health services and the introduction of a national suicide prevention plan setting a target of a 20% decrease by 2021.
For a government not to deliver on these principles, it would be considered against the law, and a motion of no confidence in the Health Secretary would take place, should the Parliament decide to do so. Representation of NHS Staff The SNP Government will establish a new minister for Nursing and Paramedics, a minister for Unions and a new body that is responsible for the representation of NHS staff at a government level. It remains a paramount importance to the SNP that NHS Staff are well cared for and that their views are heard. National Care Service In order to bring the best possible quality of care to the people of Scotland, a re-elected government, lead by the SNP, would establish a centralised and publicly owned service that is focused on delivering care to the people of Scotland.
Drugs Crisis The Drugs Crisis remains of serious concern to the SNP, and we will tackle the crisis with the compassion and funding that is required. In our first year, we will invest an addition £10 million to NHS Services to tackle the drug crisis. Improving Cancer Services We will implement our Cancer Recovery Plan, including the £18 million partnership with Macmillan to ensure everyone with cancer in Scotland gets personalised care. We will invest a further £20 million to expand our Detect Cancer Early programme and establish state of the art cancer treatment and detection facilities in every single Scottish health board. The SNP believe firmly that the people who live in Scotland and the businesses that operate here are much better off as members of the European Union. In any referendum on our future, the SNP would campaign to Remain.

Refugee Crisis
Nuclear Weapons
Currently, the UK Government’s Home Office holds responsibility for refugees arriving in Scotland.
The SNP has never and will never support the retention or renewal of Trident. We believe that nuclear weapons are immoral, ineffective and expensive.
Scotland stands ready to accept refugees and the SNP Government will seek to provide them with finical support and reliable services that they can trust. Scottish Independence In 2014, the people of Scotland spoke on our position in the United Kingdom and the SNP respect that result. We will not seek to hold an independence referendum unless there is significant and material change on Scotland’s position in the United Kingdom. That change, for example, would be if the rest of the UK voted to leave the EU, yet Scotland voting to remain.
We believe that the billions of pounds that are spent on Trident Nuclear Weapons will be better spent on Education and Healthcare, because that is what matters most. We also believe that the UK’s nuclear weapons programme must not be kept in Faslane without the permission of the people that live in that area. Celtic Alliance The SNP Government will seek to begin talks for a Celtic Alliance between the Welsh Government, the Northern Ireland Executive, the Irish Government and other regions within the UK with Celtic heritage.
War & Peace It is a firm belief of the SNP that the world we live in must be a peaceful one, and we will stand in direct opposition to any war across the world. We will also advocate for the UK Government to stop all forms of intervention in the war on terror in the Middle East.
This alliance would be to ensure that Celtic culture remains living and that our languages are protected from extinction. To protect Scotland’s culture and grow our position on the International Stage, make it Both Votes SNP.

AN ECONOMY THAT WORKS FOR EVERYONE
Scottish Child Payment
Energy Taxation
The SNP Government will introduce a new benefit called the ‘Scottish Child Payment’. This would start at £10 a week and would not be means tested, allowing for more support for families.

Economic Development
Manufacturing is a vital branch of the Scottish Economy and a reelected SNP Government will invest up to £70 million into a National Mission for Manufacturing, that will create new jobs and build more factories for the future.
As the world becomes more digital, the SNP Government will invest £10 million into the digital economy and digital infrastructure over the next parliament.
Taxation
Scotland is fortunate enough to have a large market of tourists visiting us every year, generating hundreds of millions for our economy. The SNP will invest into more tourist facilities and into public transport schemes for tourists.
The SNP have a simple policy on taxation. That policy is that working people should be taxed less and the rich should be taxed more.
Tourism
The SNP Government will use the new powers to raise the tax bands for the highest two tax brackets, generating millions more for the Scottish Economy, while lowering the tax on the lowest tax band.
Investment for the Future
The SNP Government will also increase the threshold of nontaxable income to £12,900.

Business
Social Security
The SNP introduced the ambitious and reliant small business bonus, which has helped hundreds of small and new businesses across Scotland. We pledge to maintain the small business bonus for the lifetime of the next parliament and beyond.
We want to build a more compassionate and thoughtful social security system that is built on fairness, dignity and respect and that will deliver prosperity and support to the people.
The SNP will establish a Scottish National Investment Bank that will use public funds to invest into the Scottish economy like never before.

The SNP Government will introduce free bus travel for Under 19’s, and later we will seek to expand it to Under 22’s. It is important that the youth of today are given a proper alternative for green and sustainable transport.

Rail Price Cap
The SNP will establish a national energy company that will lower costs and take a burden from working household bills.
We will cap rail prices at 75% of their current price to ease the cost of tickets as they dramatically increase.
We plan to introduce this by the end of 2021. Public Buses We will give Local Authorities the power to place bids in Bus companies and nationalise local bus services if they choose to do. We will invest £10 million from the Scottish Budget to nationalise the Scottish Citylink services. ScotRail for the Future The SNP will seek to nationalise Scottish Railway services by 2020. We want to see lower fares and more staff, with better and newer trains on the network. Those things can only be delivered with public ownership and the SNP will do just that. Bike Hire We will invest £2 million into bike hire schemes in towns and cities across Scotland.
Ferries We have secured the construction of two new ferries in Port Glasgow. We want to connect communities and give islanders the lifeline that they need to carry out their day-today duties. Energy Price Cap We will lobby the UK Government to decrease the energy price cap to help ease the cost of living on families. We will also introduce a £100 energy payment for people struggling to cover their bills, and cover any debt that they may be in to the energy company. Strong Leadership Only the SNP can provide Scotland with the strong leadership and experience of good governance.
