Since the forma�on of the Sco�sh Na�onal Party, nine decades of poli�cal movements have led to this.

Scotland now stands at a crossroads, with many choices to make in regards to the kind of country that we now want to be. The SNP manifesto for this elec�on presents our policy pla�orm for the next five years.

We will work in partnership with European Na�ons to secure membership in the European Union. We will seek membership in the North Atlan�c Treaty Organisa�on and we will con�nue to ensure that Scotland’s voice is held on the world stage. Securing Scotland’s place in the world is vital if we want to reap all of the benefits of independence.

We will work with England, Wales, and Northern Ireland to promote a common partnership between our na�ons.

Even though we are now an independent country, lots more progress is s�ll yet to be made. Since 2007 we have delivered progress for Scotland, and in this elec�on, we are now asking the Sco�sh people to place their trust in us once more so that we can con�nue to deliver strong and meaningful progress for all of Scotland.

We have been in power now for nearly 20 years. We don’t shy away from the fact that nearly two decades of power is a very long �me. Look at Scotland in 2007, and compare it to the Scotland of today. Lower rates of crime, more support for families and communi�es, record investment into our Na�onal Health Service, and over a hundred and fi�y thousand new affordable homes. That is the impact of SNP governance.

We have already started delivering our progress. We are making history, each and every one of us. This is the biggest opportunity for change in Scotland’s history. So let us grasp that opportunity and begin to build a be�er na�on. Building a be�er na�on starts with all of us, let’s start that work today.

This elec�on is our only chance to truly shape the future of our country.

The next steps that we take will determine the course that Scotland will follow for decades. It is vital that we get all the big calls right.

Through democra�c renewal and reform, we will seek to establish a system that holds poli�cians and leaders to account, provides more opportuni�es for scru�ny, and demands complete transparency.

With record investment during some of the toughest �mes of Austerity, we have proven that we can care for Scotland’s health services, and now, we will seek to employ hundreds of new doctors and nurses and build dozens of new hospitals and medical centres.

Building a healthier Scotland starts with all of us playing our part, and we will con�nue to expand our program for healthier ea�ng in our schools with further investment from Local Authori�es and the Sco�sh Government.

Tackling the Drugs crisis has become an immediate priority of the Government, post-independence. We will con�nue on our policy pla�orm to decriminalise and legalise certain substances and con�nue to offer help to those that need it.

We will raise a�ainment in our schools with a review of the curriculum for excellence and expand our efforts to close the a�ainment gap.

As we move forward, we will require a strong system to defend us and protect us from en��es and people. We will begin our efforts to grow Scotland’s military while remaining strictly opposed to all Nuclear weapons of mass destruc�on.

We will promote Scotland’s broadcas�ng and arts sector with further investment from the Government and more opportuni�es for ar�sts and broadcasters to showcase their work.

We will focus on further economic growth and stability, and, if we are accepted into the European Union, we will begin the process of changing our currency into the Euro.

Let me be clear, the SNP always has and always will stand up for Scotland and her people.

These next steps are the next steps toward a stronger Scotland.

Independence has not changed our desire to build a be�er Scotland, if anything, it has progressed it. We can build the Scotland that we all need. All we need to do is Hope.

In this elec�on, let me be clear, a vote for the SNP is a vote for sensible, seasoned leadership and for further progress on the issues that ma�er to the people of Scotland.

This manifesto is our next programme for Government.

BUILDING A NEW SCOTLAND Now that we have achieved our independence, we must take new steps towards a fairer and more equal Scotland.

This sec�on of our manifesto details the next steps that the SNP will take over the next five years to build that forward-thinking country that many of us desire.

The first task of the next Sco�sh Government will be to introduce legisla�on to set down, in law, the founding basis that our country will grow and progress. The SNP has a detailed and inclusive vision for the future of our country. With more accountability for our poli�cians, fiscal sensibility, further investment into health services, and, most importantly, tackling the climate crisis with public funds – we are commi�ed to con�nuing to deliver for Scotland.

Our vision to build a more equal and inclusive Scotland:

ECONOMIC SENSIBILITY Many of us now live in challenging �mes, with an everincreasing number of people struggling to make ends meet. This is due to companies using their great deal of influence to exploit consumers. The SNP will establish a consumers watchdog that will deal with complaints about rising costs.

Addi�onally, we will tackle rising costs with investment and support from the Government. We will give each household a £250 payment to help ease the cost of living and we will cap energy prices at much lower rates than they are today.

We will provide sensible leadership on economic ma�ers and ensure that families and communi�es are given the correct levels of support that they need and deserve.

• Investment into NHS and mental health services.

• Accountability for our law-makers and elected s officials.

• Tackling the climate crisis with public investment.

DEMOCRATIC RENEWAL AND ACCOUNTABILITY We will deliver legisla�on that will hold poli�cians to higher accountability and will introduce new measures to ensure that members of parliament are represen�ng their cons�tuents.

We will hold a review of the Parliamentary complaints procedure and make it easier for cons�tuents to raise problems with the member of parliament.

Since first taking office in 2007, the SNP has increased the budget for NHS Scotland, with record NHS spending and hundreds of new doctors and nurses now in our health service.

We will invest £100 million over the course of the next parliament to upgrade ambulances and employ hundreds of new paramedics. We will introduce new, reviewed, targets for the Sco�sh Ambulance service to reach their pa�ents on �me. We will work with the Sco�sh Ambulance Service to tackle many of the issues that they face today, like ageing equipment and staff shortages.

Addi�onally, we will invest £40 million in expanded We will work with the Sco�sh Parliament Corporate Body pharmacy services and employing more pharmacists. to reform parliamentary procedure that may be outdated.

We will use our influence and power to use public funds to fund proper ini�a�ves.

BETTER MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES We recognise that mental health services in Scotland are now in dire need of a�en�on and greater funding. That is why over the course of the next parliament, we will invest up to £70 million to build new mental health facili�es in every single health board of the country.

Furthermore, we will use public funds to invest up to £10 million into the Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service, CAMHS, to ensure that our young people are ge�ng the correct support that they need.

We will work with third par�es and Local Authori�es to ensure that young people have proper pastoral support in our schools and so that they can deal with any issues that they may be facing. No young person in our country should be suffering in silence.

EQUALITY IN POLITICS To increase the number of women in leadership roles across the wider public sector, we have passed the Gender Representa�on on Public Boards (Scotland) Bill. The new law – the first of its kind in the UK – will ensure that 50 percent of non-execu�ve members on public boards in Scotland are women.

We are also ensuring that the voices of women and girls are heard at the highest levels of poli�cs. The First Minister has established an Advisory Council on Women and Girls to inform the Sco�sh Government on the inequali�es they face and how best to tackle them.

We’re taking ac�on in government too. A new £500,000 fund has been established to support projects that encourage greater representa�on of women in poli�cs and to mark the centenary of women’s suffrage.

The Next Steps to a building a new Scotland.

These steps that we have outlined will be vital to ensure that Scotland is a forward-thinking and sustainable na�on, that is prepared for the many challenges that the decades to come may throw at us.

Be�er days are ahead and it’s �me to prepare for the future. Scotland has the poten�al to be such a wonderful place to live, work, and study. All we need to do is believe in Scotland. Scotland can be one of the best countries in the world.

With a strong team of MSP’s in Parliament, you can be sure that we will tackle the issues of today seriously. With a strong team of seasoned and experienced leaders, you can be certain that the SNP will con�nue to take our role as leaders of the Sco�sh Government with fairness, respect, and dignity.
