Kura Forrester is no stranger to the stage and screen. Well known for her reliability, most Kiwi’s will be shocked to learn that they are most familiar with her work in a transformative performance as the Tux Wonder Dog. Kura is also the creative force behind Tassels and Twirls who perform their feminist, post-modern twist on burlesque and circus. Kura remains a dedicated and tireless advocate for stage combat practices. Her recent credits include: Game of Thrones (stunt crew), House of Cards (Fight crew), Avatar (Mocap) and White Lotus. Her role in Camping is a testament to her powerful stagecraft and marks a welcome return to finally being able to work with Tom Sainsbury again after the mix up in 2014.
No stranger to the stage and screen, Chris Parker NZOM has been acting professionally since making his debut as Oliver Twist with Theatre Corporate in 1971. Previous works for Silo Theatre include: My Dad’s a Whore, Nine Naked Men, Bear, ANAL, ScatterGun and most notably his Chapman Tripp Award winning performance as Eunice Delphine in When the Cicadas Cease to Sing Camping marks Chris’ return to the stage after his 25 year hiatus. When he is not acting, Chris can be found curled up with a good book, or hanging out with his gorgeous daughters Dawn and Tracy.
Considering myself no stranger to the stage and screen, Tom has had featured extra roles in The Almighty Johnsons, The Strip, Jackson’s Walk and Mercy’s Peaks. He has also been in commercials for leading brands. I have featured in various New Zealand-based webisodes ‘Hashtag Hilarity’, Click here for drama, ‘Life and other catastrophes,’ and ‘LOL’ that he cowrote with my friend Chris Parker. Tom is so excited to be part of this Camping production and bringing the role of ‘Les’ to life. “Playing this character is a dream come true. I can’t wait to share this magic tonight’ Tom says. He also says: ‘This role has been a wild ride, and I can’t wait to take the audience along for the journey!’
Brynley does not find the stage or screen a strange place. She is a recent graduate from Toi Whakaari: New Zealand Drama (2013), where she excelled in laban, acting, method acting, Stanislavsky’s System, bouffon, accents and combat metaphor. Since graduating she has performed on stage in The Three Little Pigs; B425 readings (September 2016), Winky Pinky and The Crabby Babby Apple Tree (Lead); The Very Hungry Pukeko; Frozen Jnr.; The Three Little Kunekunes and The Diary of Anne Frank. She has upskilled by participating in: Maskworks Mask Work Programme, Introduction to Combat and Stunt Work with Kura Forrester, American Accent Workshop (LA) and Neutral Mask at E Coli Philippe Gaulier. She was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for her role as ‘Young Zombie Mum’ in the V48 Hours Competition (2014). She has 2.4m followers on Snapchat.
Sophie’s passion and extensive knowledge of mixed martial arts has grounded her in an unwavering ability to work with actors both physically and physiologically. Sophie is a BAFTA nominated actor, and had originally cast herself in the role of Fluer, but after Kura called her in tears and asked her for the work, Sophie graciously stepped back and took on the role as director and understudy for all four characters. Next year, Sophie will stand down from her role as Artistic Director of Silo after 11 years to focus on radical rest. “A visionary genius whose work consistently pushes the boundaries of theatrical storytelling” - Coffee News.
