“EMPTY BOWLS” On November 20, 2008, The Williston Basin Resource Coalition will hold their “Empty Bowls” event at the James Memorial Art Center, 621 1st Ave. West, Williston, ND 58801.

For this fundraising project, ceramic bowls are created and then a simple meal of soup and bread is served. Guests choose a bowl to use that day and to keep as a reminder that there are always Empty bowls in the world. The donation will be used to fight hunger in this area. The bowls are being created by students in Anna Hoffman’s classes at Williston High School. This year a large hand made bowl will auctioned offer during the Empty Bowls event. The auction will take place between 6:00 and 6:30 pm.

Delcina Fretland is one of our craft ladies here at the center and has been volunteering for Delcina Fretland along time! We appreciate her crochet items which she makes, along with other projects that she helps with in our craft area. The craft ladies make and donate items with monetary donations going to our center.

Delcina was born and raised on a farm north of Alexander. She has 1 brother, Doyle, and 1 half-sister Margorie. Here special childhood friends were Eulavaugn Forthun Tangsrud and Caroline Gajewske Timerick.

Delcina is proud of raising 5 children and seeing 12 grandchildren grow up, as well as having 2 great-grandchildren born.

In addition to her family, Delcina enjoys coming to the Heritage Center, listening to musicespecially gospel, crocheting, watching TV, and eating good food. She has long-time membership in the Mothers Against Drunk Driving Organization, Christian Women's Club and Lutheran Brethern Fellowship Church. She also enjoyed being a member of a bowling team in the earlyto-mid 1970's, she is a piano player and likes to sing harmonies to time old gospel music. In Steve Slocum, right, Marketing Director the future, Delcina would like to travel to the Empire State Building, and she would like to at First National Bank, meet any more great-grandchildren that are born to her family. Because of Delcina's weekly awards Philip Snyder involvement in craft making, the Heritage Center and First National Bank and Trust Co. honor "Volunteer of the Month Award". her as our November 2008 Volunteer of the Month.

For this fundraising project, ceramic bowls are created and then a simple meal of soup and bread is served. Guests choose a bowl to use that day and to keep as a reminder that there are always Empty bowls in the world. The donation will be used to fight hunger in this area. The bowls are being created by students in Anna Hoffman’s classes at Williston High School. This year a large hand made bowl will auctioned offer during the Empty Bowls event. The auction will take place between 6:00 and 6:30 pm.
