OF APPROVAL
4
The Season Ticket is currently the online home of ‘shoe circuit’ media coverage in grassroots basketball. Our basketball-specific coverage is called ‘The Circuit’. No other entity covers the space like us. The ‘governing bodies’ in grassroots hoops are USA Basketball, and three of the biggest apparel companies in the world; Nike, Adidas and Under Armour.
THE PROGRAM PAGE The Season Ticket provides all of the tools necessary for youth club programs to efficiently and accurately market themselves to every youth parent in 5 their sporting demographic.
THE PLAYER PAGE The Season Ticket allows the youth athlete to build and manage a curated player profile page that both players and parents can edit.
THE COACH’S PAGE The coach page provides a platform to market and advertise their career achievements, accolades, alumni, playing schedules and more.
It’s time to level up the playing field
ONE MILLION Number of high school students academicaally ineligible to play NCAA sports every year
1 of every 2 under-resourced student athletes are academically ineligible for college sports every year
NCAA academic eligibility is extraordinarily complex and confusing
The process is a multi-tiered matrix: ACT | SAT test scores NCAA approved core courses Special NCAA GPA
6
Level the playing field by radically simplifying NCAA academic eligibility requirements for student athletes
CARE
CARE® is the first solution to provide student athletes a clear path to be academically eligible:

OVERVIEW Meanstreets enjoyed one of the most impressive springs in grassroots, earning the nation’s No. 2 overall ranking after finishing with a 29-3 preEYBL record. Top to bottom, this unit is loaded with talent, and they are a resounding favorite to not only qualify for Peach Jam, but advance to bracket play. Head coach Tai Streets has tons of Peach Jam experience, and he’ll be looking to make the deepest run in program history. 2023 point guards Dalen Davis and RJ Taylor might be underclassmen, but each played crucial roles during the spring and early summer. Casey and Washington need to be fed, and Davis and Taylor have done a terrific job owning their roles and producing consistent minutes. Kareem Ozier and Nick Martinelli - a recent Elon commit - will see big minutes off the bench, as will forward Robby Avila (247 3-star) The betting odds would have MeanStreets advancing to Peach Jam, but they have a very difficult road ahead of them. Several talented rotations await, including frontcourt battles with Zuby Ejiofor (Houston Hoops, Shawn Phillips (Georgia Stars), PSA (Christian Fermin, VCU), and Felix Okpara/Tarris Reed of MOKAN. This has a chance to be Streets’ best squad in his grassroots basketball career, making July a very fun time for the Chicago EYBL affiliate.
43
THE STAR There is too much talent on this team to pick just one star. 2022 forwards Jalen Washington (247 No. 25) and AJ Casey (ESPN No. 35) comprise one of the best frontcourt duos in the country, while 4-stars Ty Rodgers (247 No. 70) and Kam Craft provide two offensive weapons in the backcourt. Washington is a 5-star recruit for a reason, and he’ll be looking to make Hubert Davis smile throughout after recently committing to North Carolina. The opposition will have to pick their poison, because Washington, Casey, Rodgers, and Craft (247 Comp. No. 83) - who recently committed to Xavier - are all equally capable of taking over a game.

OVERVIEW Death, taxes, and Team Takeover being a contender at Peach Jam. Head coach Keith Stevens has put togetherness 17U squad, and while it doesn’t necessarily carry the star power of Takeover teams of the past, it is equipped with mroe than enough talent to make noise in North Augusta. Takeover went () prior to Peach Jam play, racking up one of the strongest strength-of-schedules in the country. One thing that is always true about Team Takeover, is they have depth - and lots of it. They come at you in waves, hitting the opposition with a defensive intensity that is difficult to match. 6-foot guard Dylan Williamson will back up McDaniel and provide a spark off the bench, while Christian May (247 3-star), Masai Troutman, and Solomon Ball all see time in the rotation. Big man Jerrell Roberson will be a key inside for Team Takeover, and the 6-foot-9 DeMatha Catholic product has enjoyed a breakout spring as he has established himself as a surefire high-major prospect. 6-foot-8 rising seniors Elijah Jones and George Perkins also see time in the frontcourt, as does 7-foot, 260-pound center Amaan Sandhu. Team Takeover is built for the grind that is about to take place over a two-week span in North Augusta. Led by McDaniel & Taylor, an above-average supporting cast, and a boatload of experience gained after taking on one of the nation’s most difficult schedules, Team Takeover should have enough juice to make a run at bracket play. 45
H/T @jordanxeldridge
THE STAR A pair of high-major commits trigger the backcourt in Dug McDaniel (Michigan) and Justin Taylor (Syracuse). McDaniel (247 No. 76) has operated at the 17U level for three years, and the 4-star prospect will be looking to cap off his career in a big way - for a program that is known for late July runs. McDaniel is a crafty, tough floor general who will keep Takeover competitive throughout pool play, especially if Taylor (247 No. 66) is firing on all cylinders. A recent pledge to Jim Boeheim and the Orange, Taylor’s length at 6-foot-6 will make him a matchup nightmare defensively for smaller teams. Both McDaniel and Taylor are vital to Takeover’s July success, and it will start with defense. One thing is for sure Michigan head coach Juwan Howard will undoubtedly enjoy watching his future point guard in action, and Boeheim will get a first-hand look at a commitment who is widely-regarded as one of the best shooters in the country.

OVERVIEW The PSA Cardinals played sparingly in the spring and summer, tuning up at the Hoop Group Atlantic City Jam Fest for the first live period. The Cardinals are a perennial contender and should be bringing two certainties to North Augusta; an elite defense and a squad full of Division I players - PSA has sent their entire 17U team to college for eight consecutive seasons. Head coach Munch Williams always has his teams ready to play, and he has a lot to like about his lineup. The supporting cast for Williams is impressive. Avery Brown (247 No. 97) and Will Richardson (247 No. 112) are both highly ranked in the 2022 class, and Brewster Academy product Yann Farrell (247 No. 96) fits in perfectly on the wing. Brown enjoyed a terrific spring capped by a strong showing at the Pangos All-American Camp, and he’ll likely need to own some of the scoring load over the 5-day slate of games. 2022 center Christian Fermin mans the middle for PSA, and the recent VCU commit has been raved about by several east coast scouts. 6-foot-7 rising senior Bube Momah is an animal in a reserve/motor role, and he is a prime candidate to break out on a national level. Braxton Jones will see meaningful minutes, while Randy Crosby (2021), Sam Gibbs (2022), Demarley Taylor (2022) Seyphon Triplett (2023) will provide nice depth in an 11-man squad. The PSA rotation will likely go nine deep, and if you’re not playing defense, Williams has no time for you. It’s essentially a guarantee they will show up on that side of the ball, so if they can find some offensive rhythm under Cruz, Brown, Richardson, and Farrell, we could be looking at a bracket play contender.
47
THE STAR 5-star guard Zion Cruz is the star of the group, holding the highest individual ranking on the roster after developing quite the impressive pedigree. Cruz (247 No. 18) is gifted offensively, but he’s locked in on defense recently and is an evolving passer. He plays with a flash and moxie that is immediately noticeable, and he will be relied upon to utilize the weapons at his disposal as he shares on-ball duties. Cruz will need to be locked in for PSA to find success at the Riverview Park Activities Center. If he’s anything like prior PSA squads, he will spearhead a vicious defense that specializes in turning mistakes into points.

OVERVIEW MOKAN Elite used the past decade to turn themselves into the model grassroots basketball program. Year in and year out, MOKAN always puts together a winning product on the court, and this years squad is no different. The twotime Peach Jam champions received some tough news last week, as it was announced that their point guard and future Kentucky Wildcat Skyy Clark suffered a torn ACL. While that news was certainly a blow to MOKAN’s morale, all you have to do is look at the rest of their rotation to realize they’ll still be a tough out in North Augusta. The depth of MOKAN is scary. Even without Clark, head coach Rodney Perry is equipped with five players ranked in the top 150, including 6-foot-7 swingman Aidan Shaw. Also set to transfer to Link Year Prep, Shaw (247 No. 51) is an athletic, quick-twitch athlete that loves to get up and down the floor. 6-foot-10 big man Tarris Reed - the third Link Year Prep transfer on the roster, has improved leaps and bounds over the past year and has developed his body in a major way. Reed (247 No. 84) dropped over 30 pounds from his frame, which has allowed him to unlock some of his untapped potential. 6-foot-11 big man Felix Okpara (247 No. 47) starts alongside Reed in the backcourt, giving MOKAN one of the most formidable frontlines in the country. Rising senior guards Larry Hughes Jr (247 3-star) and Damien Mayo (247 3-star) will receive important minutes in the backcourt alongside Warren, and it would be surprising if one of them doesn’t step up their game to another level now that Clark is out. MOKAN could have gone 0-14 before Peach Jam and it would still be difficult to bet against them. Instead, they ran up a 9-5 record while pitting themselves against some of the best teams in America in the process. Director Matt Suther demands excellence from his program, and Perry does of his team, so you can expect MOKAN to be locked in from the opening jump.
49
THE STAR With Clark out, MOKAN made the decision to pull up 16U star point guard Bryson Warren. A 6-foot3 playmaker who recently transferred to Link Year Prep, Warren (247 No. 16) obtained 5-star status after a dominant spring - one that included him winning Most Valuable Player at The Circuit League I. It’s probably unfair to expect Warren to come up to the 17U level and put up identical production, but it’s going to be a treat to see him test himself against the elite guards in the 2022 class.

OVERVIEW Phenom University put up a dominant spring and summer under head coach Antonio Curro, turning in a 22-2 pre-EYBL record. The Milwaukee-based EYBL squad will be making their second run through an EYBL season after missing last year due to COVID, and they return with a talented rotation capable of beating anyone in the country. Phenom holds a number of quality wins on their resume, including victories over C2K Elite, Atlanta Xpress, Team Thad, KC Run GMC, and 3D Empire. After a terrific start to the season, Phenom University spent the entire spring ranked inside the Top 25. They will certainly have their work cut out for them in pool play, but their 22-2 record should give them plenty of confidence as they prepare for their tough slate of games. With Trimble operating efficiently at the top of the rotation, Phenom has a chance to compete and beat any squad in the country. Trimble has a lot of talent surrounding him, highlighted by 6-foot-5 swingman Steven Clay and 6-foot-8 forward Danilo Jovanovich. Both help Trimble with the scoring load, and both are equally capable of catching fire from the field. Guards Andre Rohde and Jackson Paveletzke will each see minutes off the bench, while Jake Martin (7-foot-1), Donovan Short (6-foot-10), John Lovelace (6-foot-8), and Amari Jedkins (6-foot-8) will split shifts in the frontcourt.

THE STAR North Carolina commit Seth Trimble (247 No. 45) is the unabashed star of the 10man rotation, and the 6-foot-3 combo guard is every bit worthy of his lofty ranking. Trimble is the top-ranked player in Wisconsin thanks to a skyhigh basketball IQ and elite athleticism. His feel for the game is special, and his ability to consistently make plays without turning the ball over is a big reason why he’s regarded as a top 50 recruit in the country. He can get you a bucket if you need, but it’s his relentless demeanor and controlled aggressiveness that make him special.

OVERVIEW There is no easy way to put this - Team Final enters the Peach Jam with an absolutely enormous target on their backs. Head coach James Johns is conducting arguably the most talented roster that Team Final has assembled, and he genuinely has an embarrassment of riches at his disposal. The entire rotation features 7 players ranked in the top 150, highlighted by 5-star forwards Jalen Duren (247 No. 1) and Dereck Lively II (247 No. 3). The supporting cast is what makes Team Final special, and quite frankly there isn’t enough room on the page to accurately spell out how talented this group is. LSU commit Justice Williams (247 No. 43), UConn commit Corey Floyd Jr (247 Comp. No. 86), Jameel Brown (247 Comp. No. 86), and Otega Oweh (247 Comp. No. 92) provide Team Final a four-headed monster in the backcourt that operates with relentless efficiency. Throw in point guard Jaheim Bethea, sharpshooter Jaden Arline, and role win Jack Seidler, and you’re looking at one of the best rotations in the country. It is Peach Jam Championship or bust for this unit. Top to bottom, they have more talent and star power on their roster than any team in the country, as it is very rare to have two of the top three prospects playing on the same team. Team Final fully expects to qualify for Peach Jam, run through their pool, and advance to bracket play. As long as they remain fully healthy, they will be the favorite to be eating peaches on July 25. 53
THE STAR Duren is a 6-foot-11 bruiser, equally proficient at blocking shots, running the floor, and finishing at the rim. He is a physical specimen, and his sheer size and strength allow him to frequently bully the opposition. His running mate Lively is a tank himself, but the 7-foot-1 forward is highlyskilled - and those skills extend to the perimeter. It will be nearly impossible for the opposition to contain both Duren and Lively, so they will likely need to pick their poison.

OVERVIEW Year in and year out, E1T1 assembles a formidable 17U team fully capable of making a run at Peach Jam. This year is no different, as head coach and program director Steve Reece has assembled a dangerous rotation that has all the pieces necessary to make a deep run in July. E1T1 currently sits with a 26-4 record and a top10 ranking in the country, meaning they will enter July as a favorite to reach Bracket play. 6-foot-10 Clemson commit Ben Middlebrooks will be featured down low, starring alongside program newcomer Taylor Hendricks. Standing at 6-foot-9 and committed to UCF, Hendricks (247 Comp. No 76) gives E1T1 a fearless competitor with a great motor. Guards Fabio Basili, Josiah Sabino, Brice Sensabaugh and Esteban Lluberes will see minutes off the E1T1 bench, as will 6-foot-9 enforcer Stephon Payne. As mentioned before, top 10 ranked teams typically have a target on their backs in July, and E1T1 will wear theirs with pride. Reece expects his team to not only qualify for Peach Jam, but ultimately make a run at the EYBL crown. E1T1’s rotation has some of the best size and athleticism in the country, and comparatively speaking, they’ll have a somewhat light schedule for the first six days of EYBL action. 55
THE STAR 6-foot-8 wing Dillon Mitchell has turned himself into the star of the group, and his strong spring was highlighted by a stellar defensive performance against 5-star Emoni Bates. Mitchell (247 No. 38) is one of the fastest-rising prospects in the country, and there is a lot to like about the rising senior’s floor game. Mitchell shares the spotlight with 6-foot-2 Ohio State commit Bruce Thornton (247 No. 23) and 6-foot-4 guard AJ Brown (247 No. 134). Thornton and Brown should be one of the most physical backcourts in North Augusta, and their ability to attack should open things up for Brown

OVERVIEW The Houston Hoops spent the entire spring and summer ranked in the Top 25, thanks to a wellput-together rotation and great head coaching from NBA veteran Mo Taylor. The Hoops feature an overwhelming amount of talent in their first and second units, making them a trendy pick to advance late into July. The Hoops wrapped up with a pre-Peach Jam record of 24-4, and they will wear that target on their backs into matchups against the Oakland Soldiers, MOKAN Elite, and No. 2 MeanStreets. 6-foot5 sniper BB Knight (247 3-star) provides a deep threat for Taylor, while late roster addition Cam Corhen (247 No. 116) will provide an active body and elite lob threat, while also showing the ability to stretch the floor. Both players will see major minutes, and if Knight catches fire, he can put you away quickly. 5-foot-11 guard Austin Benigni (247 3-star) is the spark-plug of the rotation, while 2023 guard Chris Johnson (247 Comp. No. 43) will channel his inner-playmaking role in order to remain efficient for Taylor. 6-foot-1 sophomore Jaland Lowe is the only other underclassmen on the roster, and it would be surprising to see him get more minutes as he gets more comfortable playing up. The Hoops will go 10 deep, and if one of Chanse Perkins, Tyree Davis, or dual-sport athlete Jackson Fields (TE, football) steps up to the plate, the Hoops become instant contenders to win the whole thing. The best part? They’re starting to play elite defense. In seven games in June and July, the Hoops have only allowed 45.7 points per game - down 10 points from their average between March-May. They have the roster, coach, and program pedigree necessary to make a run at Peach Jam, and with six “star” ranked players in their rotation, Taylor and company enter North Augusta with a target on their backs. 57
H/T Arath Brito’s
THE STAR The Hoops have plenty of No. 1 options on the roster, but it was 6-foot-9 big man Zuby Ejiofor who made the biggest jump in production. Ejiofor (247 No. 41) recently committed to Kansas, giving Bill Self one of the most skilled and physically-imposing players in the class. He was named to the AllEvent First Team three times in four appearances, and his consistency and motor should allow him to wreak havoc alongside his talented teammates. Amaree Abram (247 3-star) looked every bit of a star while playing alongside Bronny James and Strive For Greatness in mid July at the Juneteenth Invitational, and it was his defense that stuck out more than anything. Once Abram locked him, every ball handler across from him was on an island. This cannot be understated - his defensive output will be crucial to the Hoops’ overall success in North Augusta.

OVERVIEW ProSkills spent the entire spring ranked in the top 25, thanks to a consistent top of the rotation and a whole lot of star power in 2022 5-star guard Cason Wallace. Head coach Jeff Webster is a tactician, and he had all the parts needed to make a late run in July. ProSkills put up a 20-4 pre-July record, including wins over Drive Nation, Team Trae Young, 3D Academy, Team CP3, Team Loaded NC, JL3, Expressions Elite, and Team Speights. The aforementioned Wallace (247 No. 19) is the unabashed star of the unit, and the 6-foot-4 combo guard does a little bit of everything while playing nearly every minute of the game. Wallace is a physical, aggressive athlete who always seems to be in attack mode - and he does it with consistency; Wallace has scored in double-figures in every ProSkills game this spring. If the Richardson (TX) high school product is clicking, ProSkills has a chance to make a statement in North Augusta. On paper this is one of the best ProSkills squads to play in the EYBL, which is saying something considering they’ve produced the likes of Mitchell Robinson (Knicks) and Jarrett Culver (Wolves). This team will be as well-coached as anyone in North Augusta, and that type of discipline is a major advantage over a 12-day stretch of basketball. This squad will likely go as far as Wallace’s ability takes them, but they definitely have a supporting cast capable of a deep run. 59
H/T Dawsoncrtv
THE STAR Wallace’s supporting cast took a while to come together, but now that it’s assembled, there’s a lot to like. 6-foot9 hybrid post Jalen Reed (247 3-star) operates the middle for Webster and company, and the Oak Hill Academy (VA) product has had one of the best spring/summers in the country. He will be accompanied by 6-foot-8 swingman KyeRon Lindsay, who spent the majority of the spring season with a red-hot Max Levels Elite squad. Lindsay has a chance to blow up, as does 6-foot-5 super-athlete Kaden Cooper (247 3-star), who joined ProSkills in mid-June after spending the majority of his spring with Team Trae Young. The x-factor in this group is 5-foot10 unsigned senior DJ Smith, who earned MVP honors at the Juneteenth Invitational after a dominating three game stretch. Throw in 6-foot-3 Southern California Academy-bound Cruz Davis (247 3-star) and there’s a lot to like about the Dallasbased EYBL representative.

OVERVIEW Team Thad (TN) was set to make their Nike Elite Youth Basketball League debut in 2020, unfortunately COVID had different plans. The Thad Young-sponsored program comes to the EYBL from the Under Armour Association, a league which they have dominated since 2013. They have more NBA alumni than any existing UAA program, and they have another supertalented rotation that has done a lot of winning this spring and early summer. Team Thad operates with a star-by-association model, and it has resulted in a 26-4 regular season record. Montverde Academy product Jalen Hood-Schifino (247 No. 27) is the highest-ranked prospect on the squad, and he’ll operate alongside fellow juniors Chandler Jackson (247 No. 56) and Memphis commit Amarr Knox (247 No. 150). That trio will be one of the most formidable backcourts in North Augusta, but the talent doesn’t drop off. Head coach and program director Norton Hurd loves his 2021 group, and it’s easy to see why. They go 10-deep, and the top of the rotation comes at you in waves. They should find plenty of success as they make their way into the EYBL, and you can expect them to make a deep run in late July. 61
H/T Dawsoncrtv
THE STAR The bruising abilities of 2023 Brandon Gardner (247 No. 39). A 6-foot-7 power forward hailing from Gray Collegiate, Gardner will have one of the best motors in North Augusta. 6-foot-6 rising senior Justin Morgan was injured for most of the spring, but Team Thad could definitely use shooting prowess on the wing. The x-factor in the lineup is defensive-stopper Solomon Washington, a 6-foot-7 versatile athlete that doesn’t need the ball in his hands to make an impact. Expect 6-foot-8 Malik Dia and Tyler Byrd to play minutes in a deep rotation.

EMONI BATES PLAYER SPOTLIGHT Just like the Bates Fundamental program, Emoni Bates is set to make his 17U Nike Elite Youth Basketball League debut, and he’ll be doing so under his father’s program after a brief stint with top-ranked Team Final. Bates is a generational talent, and all eyes will be on him as he sets to lead Bates Fundamentals against a treacherous July schedule. Bates 24.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game during the 2020-21 high school season, pitting himself against national talent on a game-by-game basis. Bates will be joined by a talented roster, one that includes 6-foot-1 point guard Paul McMillan (247 No. 126) and 6-foot-10, 250-pound big man Shawn Phillips (247 No. 108). Bates flourished when surrounded by elite talent during his stay with Team Final, and by the looks of it, Bates should have a formidable supporting cast as they attack their first EYBL regular season slate of games. 63

OVERVIEW Russell Westbrook’s Team WhyNot has enjoyed a massive amount of success in their first two Nike EYBL seasons, advancing to the Peach Jam championship game in each of their first two seasons in the league (2018, 2019). Head coach Reggie Morris is one of the best coaches in grassroots basketball, and he’ll have another roster fully capable of making a deep run in July. The supporting cast also keeps it in the Prolific Prep family, as 4-star junior PopPop Isaacs (247 No. 34) will operate at the point guard position. Isaacs recently transferred to Prolific, so the four games at the LV Royalty live period event were the first games he’s played with his new teammates since coming over from Vegas Elite. 3-star guard DJ Dudley (247 Comp. 155) should pair nicely with Isaacs, and 6-foot Junior Barrington Hargress has earned raved reviews from west coast scouts. Expect Hargress to play a big role for WhyNot, and don’t be surprised if he picks up a bunch of offers in the process. The same can be said for 7-foot big man Dok Muordar, who should be a difference-maker alongside Bona. COVID ruined Team WhyNot’s attempt at getting the traditional three-peat of championship appearances, and they’ll have to gel as a unit very quickly if they plan to get their third trip to Peach Jam bracket play. There is a lot to like about the lineup, and judging by their 1-3 showing in Las Vegas during the first live period, defense is where it 65 is going to start.
H/T teamwhynot
THE STAR The star power of WhyNot can be split right in two between two high school teammates. 2022 4-star wing Kamari Lands (247 Comp. 37) heads up an impressive looking rotation, and the 6-foot-8 Syracuse commit will be tasked with scoring the basketball at a high rate for Team WhyNot. Lands stars at national powerhouse Prolific Prep, so he should be properly battletested even though this WhyNot squad has only played four games together. Same goes for 2022 Adem Bona (247 No. 9), a 6-foot-10 forward who earned 5-star status recently after a strong season at Prolific alongside Lands. The Nigerian-born Turkish product has the look of a star, and we expect him to have a big July.

OVERVIEW Winners of 14 straight dating back to April 24th, Brad Beal Elite (MO) enters North Augusta as arguably the hottest team in the country. They earned a top-five ranking in the latest Top 25 rankings volume, thanks to a 10 wins over shoe-circuit teams; E1T1 United, UPLAY, KC Run GMC, Nebraska Supreme, Indy Heat Gym Rats (twice), Georgia Stars, Illinois Wolves, D1 Minnesota, and Wisconsin Playground Club. Also worth noting - two of their three losses came against the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the country (Team Final and MeanStreets). To put it simply, Brad Beal Elite has one of the strongest supporting casts at peach jam. 2023 point guard Jeremy Fears (247 No. 23) has earned tons of valuable experience at national high school powerhouse La Lumiere (IN), and the 6-foot1 floor general has high-major offers across the board. 6-foot-4 combo guard Christian Jones recently committed to Missouri, capitalizing on a super-strong spring. 6-foot7 wing Tavion Banks will see big minutes in a cleanup role, as will Saint Louis commits Nick Kramer and Kellen Thames. 6-foot-9 big man Connor Turnbull gives the BBE supporting cast four total commitments, as the Butlerbound Frazier is one of the best coaches in the EYBL, and as far as he’s concerned, the BBE program is already firing on all cylinders: “We have four guys committed. What I’m most fond of is we’ve had four local kids committing and getting it done before we get to July,” Frazier told Tyler Coleman of Elite Team Sports. “And that says a lot about what we’re doing with our program.” “The kids have earned it.”
67
THE STAR Head coach Corey Frazier has a talented core - one that doesn’t necessarily depend on a single “star”. 6-foot-4 guard Nick Smith is a budding superstar, operating as a threelevel scorer equally capable of beating you off the dribble or off catch and shoot. Smith is the prime contender to lead them in scoring, while 5-star swingman Brandon Miller will be relied upon to do a bit of everything. Miller (247 Comp. No 15) is supremely-skilled at 6-foot-8, and the athleticism of the reigning Tennessee State Gatorade Player of the Year could be accurately described as ‘eye-popping.”

KOREN JOHNSON PLAYER SPOTLIGHT For the first time in three seasons, Seattle Rotary Style will not have the services of Duke-bound future lottery pick Paolo Banchero. The keys to the Rotary car will be handed over to Koren Johnson, the 83rd ranked recruit nationally by 247 Sports in the 2022 graduating class. The 6-foot-2 Wasatch Academy-bound combo guard will be relied upon tremendously on both ends of the floor by head coach Jamaal Williams. Johnson is a defensive menace, and his activity and flair on that end of the floor definitely resonates with his teammates. With the ball in his hands, Johnson is dynamic. He has a noticeable, confident flow to his handle, one that leaves every defender susceptible to getting embarrassed. Johnson was widely-regarded as the number one player in Washington before transferring to Wasatch for his senior season, and after missing the 2020-21 season due to COVID cancellations, Johnson will look to improve on his 2019-20 high school averages of 14.0 points and 6.0 assists per game. 69

OVERVIEW The New York Lightning and New Heights merged in the off-season, creating a New York City power team at the 17U level called the New Heights Lightning. The program is still directed by Dana Dingle and coached by Shandue McNeill, two pioneers who have built the Lightning into one of the toughest programs in the country. Similar to Lightning squads in the past, this Lightning squad plays a gritty, hard-nosed styled of basketball perfectly suited for the rigors of Peach Jam. The rotation keeps going but the talent doesn’t drop off. 5-star sophomore forward Akil Watson (247 No. 26) will be present . The entire Lightning rotation will run 11-deep, and includes Tarik Watson - a second sophomore and the brother of the aforementioned Akil Watson. While their 8-5 record isn’t terribly impressive, they likely have their best basketball in front of them. McNeill is one of the best coaches in the EYBL, and you can be assured he will have his troops prepared for Peach Jam battle. Consider the Lightning a favorite to qualify for Peach Jam, and a dark horse for bracket play.
71
H/T Dawsoncrtv
THE STAR Villanova commit Mark Armstrong lead a balanced, deep rotation that will come at the opposition in waves. Armstrong (247 No. 33) is tough as nails, and his ability to score and play-make will be on full display as he will have the ball in his hands frequently. 5-star 2024 point guard Elliot Cadeau (ESPN No. 7) will also have the ball in his hands often, and the Bergen Catholic product has shown flashes of absolute brilliance operating in the Lightning system. The coaching staff is in love with Cadeau, and he may turn heads quickly as he’ll like slip past most team’s scouting reports.

OVERVIEW All Ohio Red put up an 21-7 record during the spring and summer, landing on their optimal rotation recently as they’ve won 12 of their past 15 games. Longtime director Jerry L Watson always puts a competitive product on the floor, and this year should be no different. They hold three wins over shoe circuit programs, including an early May statement-win over the Indy Heat Gym Rats. All Ohio rosters 12 players, and they’ll likely ride the hot hand as the Peach Jam schedule unfolds. 6-foot-2 guard Jamal Sumlin gives them another junkyard dog in the backcourt, and the Ypsi Prep product is accustomed to performing on the national stage after running alongside Emoni Bates in 2020-21. Harris’ high school teammates Preist Ryan is a strong candidate to open some eyes, as is 6-foot-3 Brush product Elmore James and 6-foot-1 shooter Michael Bova. The lack of size within the All Ohio Red roster is noticeable, and they’ll look to make it a moot point with an abundance of talented guards. They kick things off with a regional battle against Bates Fundamentals, and things don’t get easier as they face back-to-back ranked opponents in the Oakland Soldiers and Houston Hoops in games two and three. It is imperative that All Ohio Red gets off to a strong start, and that responsibility will fall on the shoulders of Jones and Harris.
73
H/T ZachFleer270
THE STAR 5-foot-11 point guard Sean Jones (ESPN No. 91) and 6-foot-7 West Virginia commit Josiah Harris are the two horses in the rotation, and both have been outstanding thus far for All Ohio Red. Jones holds high-major offers across the board thanks to his overwhelming toughness and motor on offense and defense. Jones sets the tone and his energy is infectious, and we expect him to have a big spring. Harris (247 3-star) is a versatile forward who will be relied upon to score and rebound at a high clip. Harris will be playing freely as he is already off the board to Bob Huggins and WVU, and we expect him to have a solid July.

OVERVIEW BABC will enter North Augusta with one of the EYBL’s youngest core rotations, but don’t be fooled - this squad is capable of making plenty of noise. They have only had their entire group available to play a handful of times this spring, but from what he’s seen, BABC founding director and head coach Leo Papile is a big fan of his current group. It’s a safe bet that Papile will ride the hot hand while staying in their offensive flow. Do they have sky-high expectations? Of course not. But a group playing freely with something to prove can definitely equal a recipe for success. You can bet the house that Papile will have his staple fullcourt press in action, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see it give the opposition fits. If they have goals of qualifying for Peach Jam, they will need to start quick as their schedule is a borderline bloodbath.
75
THE STAR BABC will take a star-by-committee approach, which should ultimately act in their favor. Iowa commit Dasonte Bowen will man the floor for Papile, and the 6-foot-3 Brewster Academy product could have a special Peach Jam after returning to his “home” grassroots program after a brief stint with Expressions Elite. Bowen (247 No. 99) is an electric guard who should excel alongside his youthful running mates. Three 2023 products - 4-star forward TJ Power (ESPN No. 51), swingman Reid Ducharme, and point guard Tre Norman will each see Major minutes at the top of the rotation. Rising senior big man Luke Hunger is a name to watch in the BABC frontcourt, as the 6-foot-10 Northfield Mount Hermon product has garnered interest from tons of colleges recently.

OVERVIEW The Georgia Stars have built one of the most storied grassroots basketball organizations in the world, and their 2021 unit stacks up nicely. Led by guards Dillon Hunter and Robert Cowherd, the Stars enjoyed a rock-solid spring and summer, culminating with a 6-1 pre-Peach Jam live period at On The Radar Hoops Elite 32 and Prep Hoops’ The Platform. Hunter (247 Comp. No. 84) and Cowherd (247 No. 158) make the stars tick, and they should have some of the best backcourt chemistry at Peach Jam after spending the entire spring operating alongside one another. Hunter operates in a traditional point guard role, while Cowherd has been counted on to consistently get buckets for the Georgia EYBL representative. Both of them are capable of stuffing the stat sheet in multiple categories, and Hunter will be counted upon to dish out assists to his talented supporting cast. The Stars have an impressive spring resume and have more than enough talent to make a splash in North Augusta. They will need Hunter and Cowherd to play the best basketball of their young careers, as they face a variety of difficult matchups in the regular season. Longtime program Director Norm Parker has a lot to like about his 2021 unit, especially defensively; the Stars were 17-0 when allowing fewer than 60 points.
77
THE STAR The Stars will be deep, and there’s a lot to like about the supporting cast. 6-foot-11 big man Mady Traore (247 No. 102) joined late and the National Christian Academy product should be a difference-maker on the interior for the Stars, as will Esra Ausar. A talented wing who recently reclassified to 2022, Ausar (247 3-star) will be attending Liberty Christian. 6-foot guard Damani Claxton plays major minutes and has turned into a valuable member of the top of the backcourt rotation. The Stars’ roster goes 10 strong, so you can expect the stars to ride the hot hand between Bretner Mutombo (247 3-star), Nate Brafford, Daeyon James, Evan Hurst, TJ Grant, and Maduk Deng.

OVERVIEW The Indy Heat Gym Rats continue to set the bar in the Midwest, and they have another talented 17U group on their hands. Head coach Jason Delaney always gets the most out of his group, and he’s working with plenty of pieces capable winning at grassroots basketball highest level of play. They currently sit with an 18-4 record and own notable wins over the City Rocks, Illinois Wolves, Bates Fundamentals, and Expressions Elite. The Gym Rats go just eight deep, and they split responsibilities across the board. The backcourt is triggered by a pair of Big 10 commits; Indiana commit CJ Gunn (247 No. 123) and Purdue pledge Fletcher Loyer (247 No. 137). Gunn has good size at 6-foot-5 and has turned himself into one of the best scorers in the class. Loyer is the younger brother of Michigan State guard Foster Loyer, and like his older sibling, Fletcher is a lights out shooter. The younger Loyer set the Homestead high school single-game scoring record in December, dropping a cool 50 while scoring in a variety of different fashions. Fatigue is a worry, but these two at the tip of the rotation should keep Delaney’s squad competitive over the six day stretch of games. On paper, the Gym Rats have one of the lighter session one schedules, and they need to capitalize by getting off to a good start. It is imperative that they stay healthy during the trip, and the bench will need to be productive in order to prolong the energy level of Loyer and Gunn. The Gym Rats are definitely Peach Jam contenders, and three massive fanbases will be able to watch their recruits in action for the first time. 79
H/T DeJuanMarrero
THE STAR A third commit - Louisville bound Tae Davis - leads the way on the wing. 6-foot-6 dual-forward could very well end up upstaging everyone in North Augusta, and his ability to defend multiple positions and switch on defense will be a valuable asset. Davis (247 No. 147) is the younger brother of Louisville star Dre Davis, and he’ll be assisted in the frontcourt by Kenna Njie (ESPN No. 87) and Antwon Woolfork - a 6-foot-7, 250-pound dual- sport athlete who doubles as 3-star tight end prospect on the gridiron. Owen Dease supplies some depth on the wing, while 5-foot-11 Tyshawn Comer (247 3-star) and 6-foot-5 Chrishawn Christmas will see impactful minutes in the backcourt.

OVERVIEW Boo Williams Summer League is on the short list for most prestigious grassroots basketball programs of all time. Their current 17U squad has the makings of being something special, evidenced by their 19-3 pre-Peach Jam record. The 12-man roster has plenty of talent across the board, and head coach Boo Williams should have fun coaching this unit throughout month of July. Tyrell Ward is the highest-ranked recruit on the Boo Williams roster, and the 6-foot-7 wing committed to Xavier moments before this magazine published. A product of DeMatha Catholic, Ward (247 No. 52) loves getting up and down the floor and has a smooth stroke from the perimeter. He will be a key cog in the rotation, as will big man Jerome Beya. A 6-foot-9 rising senior from Teays Valley Christian (WV), Beya (247 No. 138) is a load on the interior, and his presence provides Boo Williams with an elite rim-protector and rebounder. There is a lot to like about the top of the Boo Williams rotation, and if their second unit shows up to play, we could be looking at a contender for bracket play. If Ward plays like he’s capable of and Johnson continues to lift his production, they should be competitive in each and every game. Lack of size is a worry, but an x-factor could be 6-foot-9 forward Perry Smith (247 No. 167) from Legacy Early College. Smith started his career as a top 100 prospect, and he’ll have a major role in Boo’s front court. 6-foot-11, 260-pound rising senior Christ Essandoko (247-star) announced the day before Peach that he would be running with Boo Williams, a pleasant surprise to Boo’s frontcourt. The addition of Essandoko definitely fills a need, and they are even more dangerous heading into pool play.
81
H/T official_teamdurant
THE STAR 6-foot-4 rising senior Efrem “Butta” Johnson is a prime candidate to break out in North Augusta, as the slick-shooting guard from Grissom (AL) high school is starting to garner attention from high-major coaches. Point guard Kanye Clary already caught the attention of a high-major program, as the 5-foot-11 spark-plug has already committed to Micah Shrewsberry and Penn State. Clary sets the pace for Boo Williams, and his speed, quickness, and solid decision-making figure to create some problems for opposing defenses. Four guards and three forwards round out a deep rotation that will come at you in waves.

OVERVIEW Team Durant spent the entire spring ranked in the Top 25, thanks to a deep and talented rotation led by the star power of 5-star junior Dariq Whitehead. Head coach Osman Bangura enjoyed a standout 18-3 record in spring and early summer action, and his group has gelled nicely - and in perfect time. Rodney Rice and Judah Mintz lead the backcourt alongside Whitehead, employing Bangura with a pair of 4-star guards who have displayed complementary skillsets. Rice (247 No. 77) can get a bucket with the best of them, and his scoring bunch will be sorely needed for Team Durant. Mintz (247 No. 85) - who will play for legendary head coach Steve Smith at Oak Hill Academy for his senior year - is a defensive ace. The versatile rising-senior - currently committed to Jeff Capel and Pitt - will be responsible for the toughest defensive assignment each game, and we like his chances to create havoc in pool play. 6-foot-7 Darren Buchanan Jr and 6-foot-9 Khalif Crawley will man the frontcourt in a relatively smaller Team Durant rotation, and both have “breakout” written all over them as they get the opportunity to play in front of college coaches. History tells us that guard-heavy rotations tends to find the most amount of success in grassroots basketball, a theory that bodes well for this Team Durant unit. They will need Whitehead, Mintz, and Rice to turn into a 3-headed monster on the offensive side of the ball, and they will try to dictate the pace and tempo to their liking stylistically. Expect this group to make a run at bracket play, and expect plenty of fireworks from 83 Whitehead.
THE STAR The aforementioned Whitehead (247 No. 6) is a nightmare to defend, and his efficiency and production will ultimately dictate Team Durant’s success level in North Augusta. The Montverde Academy product does a little bit of everything on the court, but his bread and butter is playing fast and attacking the basket. Whitehead has displayed a vastly-improved ability to beat his defender off the ball, and his jumpshot looked better than ever in May and early July. Whitehead projects to be a pro, and he is certainly capable of a special mid-July in North Augusta.

OVERVIEW JL3 has waited over a year to make their Nike EYBL debut, and they’ll be coming in with a rock-solid rotation that evolved over the spring and summer. The John LucasSponsored program is coached by Richard Law, and he has a rotation that should compete with anyone in the pool. JL3 tuned up at GASO Live and the George McClellan Invitational, turning in a 3-1 record to put them at 20-6 for the spring. Griggs and Arceneaux will need to be lights out, but JL3 proved during the spring and early summer that they are more than capable of winning against elite competition. They have a favorable schedule in North Augusta, but will need to come out of their corner swinging in their first two pool play games against Boo Williams and Team CP3.
87
THE STAR The talent in this rotation is fairly evenlydispersed, but their go-to-guy in the backcourt is 4-star guard Bryce Griggs. A 6-foot-2 product of Hightower High School in Houston, Griggs (247 No. 46) has proven to be a scoring dynamo during his prep career. He tends to play his best when the lights shine the brightest, so it is a safe bet that he comes out and plays his best basketball of the year. 6-foot-6 swingman Terrance Arceneaux will also be featured in the JL3 offensive game plan, but the Beaumont United product does a lot more than just score. Second in command is 6-foot-6 rising senior Terrance Arceneaux. The reigning state champion is one of the fastest-rising wings in the country, and he’ll have his work cut out for him against the swingmen in JL3’s pool. JL3 will eventually be forced to play small, and Arceneaux will be depended on to guard forwards and centers - a task fitting for his versatile game. 2022 products Chris Marshall (247 No. 125 football), Sam Bradford, Jordan Williams, and Isaiah Barganier all play crucial minutes for Law and company, and they’ll be aided by the recent addition of 6-foot-8 2023 swingman Jacolb Cole.

OVERVIEW Drive Nation enters the season’s biggest event after a busy pre-Peach Jam schedule, one that saw them rack up an impressive 18-7 record. It took a couple weekends for Head coach Brandon Espinosa to figure out his rotation, but since he has, his team has progressed into a contender. Drive Nation holds wins over 3D Empire, Louisiana Elite, Utah Prospects, and Team Spartans, has played one of the more difficult schedules in the country. They have star-power at the top of their rotation, and their strength of schedule should have them battletested before a rigorous slate of games in mid-July. This group needs their stars to show up, as they will likely go as far as Walsh and Iwuchukwu take them. 7-foot junior Vincent Iwuchukwu is the Robin to Walsh’s batman, and the recent Montverde Academy (FL) transfer will need to lift his game to another level in North Augusta if Drive Nation wants to advance out of pool play. Iwuchukwu looked terrific at the Pangos All-American camp, and will look to build on that momentum to have a game-changing July. TJ Caldwell assumes point guard duties for Espinosa and company, and the 6-foot-4 combo guard has shown massive developments in his handle and three-point shot. Speaking of three-pointers, 6-foot5 junior Dorian Finister will be depended on to be a consistent threat from deep. Finister has shown flashes of brilliance this spring, and it would not be a surprise if he has a string of big performances at Peach Jam. Juniors V’Zarion Roberson, Cole Reid, Jourdyn Grandberry, and Alec Zambie round out the 8-man rotation - one that will need to remain healthy and out of foul trouble if they want to find success. 89
H/T Dawsoncrtv
THE STAR Jordan Walsh leads the Drive Nation rotation, and the 6-foot-7 wing provides Espinosa with the “star” power at the top of his rotation. Walsh - recently ranked 12th by ESPN’s 2022 rankings - is one of the most versatile players in the country. His athleticism and strength is noticeable off the bat, and his offensive game has been refined to be a 3-level scorer. Walsh will transfer to Southern California Academy for his senior year, and will look to close his grassroots career with a deep Peach Jam run.

OVERVIEW The New Jersey Scholars will be making their Nike Elite Youth Basketball League debut as a program, and they’ll be doing it with one of the nation’s biggest stars in the holster. 2023 No. 1 prospect DJ Wagner stars for the Scholars, and he’s surrounded by a young albeit supertalented supporting cast. The Scholars put up a 13-2 record this spring, but they’ll have their work cut out for them as they’ll play half that many games over the course of six days. Wagner (247 No. 1) is a generational talent quite literally. The descendent of NBA players Milt Wagner and Dajuan Wagner, DJ has carved his own path with a dynamic offensive skill set that is well-ahead of his years. His father Dajuan had one of the greatest high school careers of all time at Camden high school, so it’s saying quite a lot that pundits already consider DJ to be miles ahead at the same stage. The majority of their roster is underclassmen, a trait that doesn’t necessarily bode well for extended success at Peach Jam. That being said, Clark is an older rising junior, and his experience at FIBA should pay huge dividends in July. Wagner is an absolute superstar and it wouldn’t surprise anyone to see him completely take over the 6-day regular season.
91
H/T timlangphotos
THE STAR 5-star forward Dajuan Wagner is a physical specimen on the interior, and the 6-foot-8 rising junior has steadily improved over the past year. 4-star point guard Quadir Copeland (247 No. 141) will star alongside Wagner in the backcourt, and there are several national recruiting analysts who believe the 6-foot-6 point guard is massively underrated nationally. Copeland will be a key cog, as will 7-foot, 215-pound rising junior Aaron Bradshaw (247 No. 40). Aaron Clark (247 Comp. No 79) is the x-factor in the rotation, as the 6-foot-6 lefty is fresh off leading the 2021 FIBA U19 World Cup in scoring at 24.0 points per game.

OVERVIEW The Nightrydas consider themselves to be “the show”, and they did not disappoint this spring and summer. Head coach Boobie Francis and company tested themselves early and often, making two trips to Dallas and three to Georgia to complete their spring schedule. Francis and company compiled a 14-5 record, and while there were a couple headscratching losses, the overall lineup is still mighty impressive and should contend heavily in North Augusta As mentioned before, the entire lineup is talented, but it wouldn’t feel right not to mention Jazian Gortman off the bat. A 6-foot-1 point guard from Keenan high school in Columbia, South Carolina, Gortman has made the biggest recent rise of any prospect in the 2022 class. Gortman (247 No. 13) ascended to 5-star status earlier this summer, and he provides Francis with a heady, dynamic point guard that truly loves the game of basketball. Jett Howard - the son of longtime NBA veteran and current Michigan head coach Juwan Howard - definitely has some star power to his game, and he will be relied upon heavily in July. Howard (247 No. 44) attends IMG Academy for high school, and spent the past year refining different aspects of his game. The Nightrydas will bring the energy to North Augusta, and we expect their fan section to be one of the loudest in an otherwise fan-less gymnasium. Francis has been coaching in Peach Jam for ages, and he’s looking to get his second Peach Jam title after winning his first with E1T1 in 2013 - a group that featured D’Angelo Russell, Grayson Allen, and Joel Berry. 93
THE STAR Malik Reneau and Jaylen Martin could certainly be listed as stars, and both are pivotal to the Nightrydas’ overall success. Martin (ESPN No. 44) is one of the most gifted scorers in the class, while Reneau (247 Comp. No. 53) provides a rebounding athlete that loves to get up and down the floor. 6-foot-6 Arkansas pledge Barry Dunning (247 No. 74) sees major minutes in the rotation, as do Milton forward Kendall Campbell (247 3-star) .

OVERVIEW Team Melo enters Peach Jam after a solid spring, one that saw them be consistently competitive en route to a 21-6 pre-July record. They hold three wins over adidas 3SSB programs (Wildcat Select, Mass Rivals, K-Low Elite), a one-point win over Team CP3, and played No. 11 NY Renaissance down to the wire. Team Melo tuned up at Hoop Group, turning in an impressive 5-0 record before heading to North Augusta. The supporting cast includes two players who also lit up the DeMatha summer league. Tyson Commander (22.7 PPG) was second in scoring for John Carroll (MD), while Deon Perry averaged a league-high 27.7 PPG (6 games). Both play important roles in the backcourt, as does 6-foot-3 point guard Bryce Lindsay. Fellow 6-foot-3 rising senior Toby Nnadozie and Trey Thomas round out the guard rotation, with 6-foot-6 Robert Davis Jr operating on the wing. 6-foot-8 forward Barry Evans Jr could be the x-factor for Team Melo. Evans recently picked up an offer from UMass, and the skilled big man should see plenty of attention from college coaches in July. Team Melo head coach Jaxon Taylor has a tall task ahead of them, but if they can channel performances like their aforementioned win over Team CP3, they have a major chance to play the underdog role at Peach Jam. With his physicality and athleticism, Whitmore is one of the more entertaining players in North Augusta. Can they make a run? It will depend on their defense; Taylor’s crew only lost twice this spring when allowing 60 or fewer points. 95
THE STAR Cam Whitmore is the goto-guy in the Team Melo rotation, and the 6-foot-7 rising senior has developed into a force. Whitmore (247 No. 33) oozes athleticism, and has turned himself into a threat from the perimeter this spring. Whitmore averaged 22.9 points per game for Archbishop Spalding at the DeMatha/ Capitol Hoops Summer League, and he hit a leaguehigh 72 field goals in eight games. Whitmore is constantly around the ball, and will be asked to do a lot for head coach Jaxon Taylor.

OVERVIEW Vegas Elite Basketball Club had a strong spring, riding the star power of 5-star point guard prospect Dior Johnson and the ever-rising talents of AJ Storr to a strong overall resume entering Peach Jam. VEBC went through a bit of a roster change-up in June, but the top of the lineup remains strong, evidenced by Vegas Elite’s 4-0 showing in the LV Royalty Live period event in which they took out EYBL challengers UPLAY Canada and Team WhyNot. The supporting cast for VEBC is relatively unproven, and there are several rotational guys in contention to step up in a big way. 6-foot-6 wing Darrion Williams is one of those guys, as is 6-foot-9 big man Daniel Röuzän. A 6-foot-10 recent transfer to Balboa School, Röuzän is a tank down low, using his frame to bully people around inside. 6-foot-10 Henri Adiassa will play minutes at the center position, while Aaron Price and James Freeman will see time on the wing. Ryan Abelman, Caden Flowers, and unsigned senior TJ Wainwright round out the backcourt - with the latter being a major contender to break out after a strong spring with Belmont Shore. Lack of size may hinder them, but guards tend to win in July, and there’s no reason to think VEBC can’t effectively play small. Dior Johnson will need to be the leader that he’s proven to be, and Storr will likely need to be scoring at will. Regardless of Johnson & Storr showing up offensively, VEBC will need to hunker down on the defensive end as they face a bevy of difficult games. They won’t enter North Augusta as a favorite, but it wouldn’t be surprising if they scored a couple of upsets and wound up in bracket play. 97
H/T Dawsoncrtv
THE STAR It seems like Dior Johnson (247 No. 14) has been in the grassroots spotlight for ages - and that’s because he has. Now a rising senior, Johnson first hit the national scene when he was 13 years old. He’s managed to keep his game at the same level as the early hype, and it’s his competitiveness and on-court tenacity that separates him from his peers. He’s flashy yet composed, and his leadership will go a long way towards success in July. Storr (247 No. 122) is going to be Robin to Johnson’s Batman, and the 6-foot-6 4-star IMG Academy-bound guard has turned himself into an elite scorer. Storr took home offensive player of the session at The Circuit League IV, and his ability to put the ball in the bucket will be crucial to VEBC’s overall success.

ALEX KARABAN PLAYER SPOTLIGHT Alex Karaban turned himself into a star this spring, helping lead Expressions Elite to a 22-12 prePeach Jam record while displaying a rapidly-evolving overall skillset. Currently slotted at 45th in ESPN’s 2022 recruiting rankings, Karaban has taken visits to UConn, Penn State, Northwestern, and recently picked up an offer from Notre Dame. Karaban is a fluid athlete, and his ability to score from all over the floor is impressive. He never gets too sped up, and his perimeter jumpshot is a thing of beauty. He provides versatility on defense, and he will likely need to guard both the 3 and 4 at Peach Jam. If Karaban gets cruising early, Expressions will definitely be dangerous in Pool Play.

OVERVIEW The Oakland Soldiers are one of two programs to win Peach Jam twice (MOKAN being the other), and director Lo Leath and head coach Marshall Collins think they have something special brewing with their current roster. California high school basketball was backed up due to the ongoing pandemic, which means it took a while for the Soldiers to finally assemble as a group. In three pre-EYBL events, the Soldiers put up an 9-1 record. 7-foot-1 Adrame Diongue and 6-foot-11 Duke Brennan form a massive frontcourt duo for Collins and company. Diongue (247 3-star) spent the high school season helping AZ Compass Prep qualify for the GEICO National championship, and the rising senior looks to be playing the best basketball of his young career. Brennan (247 3-star) is a tank in his own right, and the two big men should complement each other well in the frontcourt. 6-foot-5 swissarmy-knife Alpha Chibambe (247 3-star) is the x-factor of the group. The 6-foot-5 athlete doesn’t need the ball in his hands to impact a game, and his hustle and nonstop motor should lead to some major productivity in a cleanup role. The Soldiers will need to gel quickly. If they do, their lineup features more than enough talent to play winning basketball in North Augusta. It will be interesting to see how their rotation plays out, but you can expect a heavy dose of Lloyd on offense. Defensively, you can be sure that Collins will have his group locked in and ready to frustrate their opponent. 101
THE STAR There isn’t an unabashed “star” in the Soldiers’ rotation, but they feature pieces that complement each other very well. Ramel Lloyd (247 Comp. 91) will have the ball in his hands frequently, and the 6-foot-6 point guard has plenty of options at his disposal. With Lloyd in the backcourt, and other tandem figures allow plenty of success playing at a breakneck pace. Sharpshooting guard Jordan Pope (247 No. 184) will play important minutes for the Soldiers, as will budding high-major prospect Ben Sholtzberg.

OVERVIEW The Mac Irvin Fire got off to a somewhat slow start to the season by their standards, struggling out of the gates with a relatively newly puttogether rotation. Head coach Mike Irvin stuck with it, and his patience paid off, as the Fire are playing their best basketball of the season heading into Peach Jam. Irvin doesn’t depend on a single player to handle the star duties, instead relying upon a 9-man rotation that has meshed nicely. The backcourt is led by 6-foot-4 rising seniors Jaylen Drane and Trey Pettigrew. Drane (247 3-star) is a product of Chicago high school powerhouse Simeon, and his playing style embodies Chicago basketball. Pettirgrew transferred out of state to Arizona for his junior season, and he parlayed a strong 202021 high school season into a standout spring and summer, including multiple strong showings at Pangos camps. Leonte Lilly, Tye Banks and Terrance Ford Jr. round out the 5-man backcourt for the Fire. Winners of 12 of their past 13 games, Mac Irvin looks to be gelling at the perfect time. The nineman rotation took some time to present itself to Irvin and the rest of the coaching staff, but it appears they’ve landed on a nice blend of talent. Also worth noting - if the Fire advance to Peach Jam play, they will have the chance to pull up 5-star rising junior JJ Taylor to the 17U roster. 105
H/T shotsbyjmoe
THE STAR The frontcourt is led by 6-foot10, 240-pound forward Danny Wolf, a developing high-major prospect who has been playing excellent basketball this spring. Wolf has great footwork and is very skilled for a player of his size and stature, meaning he will garner a lot of attention from college coaches in North Augusta. 6-foot-9 big man Kyle Thomas provides some major athleticism alongside Wolf, and the rising senior has improved his skillset noticeably over the past 18 months. 6-foot-7 rising senior Grant Newell has put up some impressive numbers this spring operating in his stretch-four role, and 6-foot-8 forward Sincere Malone provides versatility and athleticism.

OVERVIEW The New York Renaissance spent the majority of spring and summer ranked in The Circuit Top 25 rankings. Led by several highly-ranked recruits, there are only a handful of teams able to match the Renaissance’s talent level top to bottom. Head coach Andy Borman has an embarrassment of riches, and it will be Peach Jam or Bust for the budding powerhouse. Simply put, the Renaissance features too many talented players to pick just one “star”. Matter of fact, the New York City-based EYBL affiliate rosters seven players with a ‘star’ ranking, including five 4 or 5 stars. 6-foot-11 big Kyle Filipowski (247 No. 40) has looked better than ever recently, and he will be operating as one of the top big men in all of North Augusta. Filipowski runs the floor with ease, is an impressive interior defender, and fits perfectly in head coach Andy Borman’s offensive scheme. 6-foot-4 Ohio State commit Roddy Gayle (247 No. 49) definitely has some star power in his game, and the same can be said for recent Hillcrest Prep transfer Chance Westry (247 No. 39). Westry took home Defensive Player of the Session at The Circuit League IV in Dallas, showcasing a two-way game that will fit perfectly at the highmajor schools recruiting him. Borman usually has his teams playing well in July, and the Renaissance come in winners of four straight at the Hoop Group Atlantic City Jam Fest. They currently sit with an 11-2 record, dropping their season opener to the EYBL’s Albany City Rocks and one more to top-ranked Team Final an opponent they beat in by 15 in the second game of the season. An anonymous national pundit firmly believes the Renaissance are the best team in the country, so don’t be surprised if they start to turn into a favorite by the time the 6-game regular season is completed July 19. 107

THE STAR 2023 point guard Simeon Wilcher (247 No. 7) is the highest-ranked prospect on the roster, and while he’s more than capable of scoring the basketball, he will take on more of a facilitator role for Borman and company. Wilcher is every bit worthy of his lofty ranking, and it will be exciting to watch him lock in on the defensive end. 6-foot9 Dominick Barlow (3-star) is getting rave reviews from both his coaching staff and national scouts, and he should earn at least 10 offers simply by displaying his elite motor. 6-foot-1 3-star guard Denver Anglin (247 No. 131) is the best shooter on the roster, while 6-foot-7 swingman Chisom Okpara (247 Comp. No. 89) has high-major offers across the board.

OVERVIEW Team CP3 has the best regular season record of any Nike EYBL team since debuting in 2012, and their 2021 group should be counted on for a similar amount of success. CP3 played a super tough spring and early summer schedule, testing themselves against several shoe circuit teams en route to a 14-5 overall record, including out-of-EYBL circuit wins over Team Durant, Expressions Elite, Team Takeover. De’Ante Green is one of the best bigs in North Carolina, and he is on the short-list of perennial breakout contenders in North Augusta. Green (247 No. 91) is effective on both ends of the floor, and his versatility at 6-foot-9 allows CP3 to filter the offense through him. Rising senior guard Michael Zanoni will be one of the best shooters to lace ‘em up in North Augusta, and the 6-foot-4 Providence Day star will be relied upon to hit a couple triples every game. CP3 has several talented players to round out their supporting cast, starting with underrated combo guards Kheni Briggs and Donovan Atwell. 7-foot-1 big man Christian Reeves plays a vital role for CP3 defensively, and he provides much-needed size in a rotation that otherwise only has one player over 6-foot-7. 6-foot-6 wings Elijay Gray (247 3-star) and Anthony Sellars excel in transition and the fast and chaotic playing-style of the EYBL should be conducive to their best skills. They’ll need one or two of them to step up their production in mid-July.It’s not wise to bet against Team CP3, especially if they’re in somewhat of an underdog role. This program wins, and wins a lot. They have plenty of talent spread across their roster, and if they play cohesive team-defense, they should qualify for Peach 109 Jam with ease.
H/T _maxx_
THE STAR 5-star point guard Jaden Bradley (247 Comp. No. 17) will trigger things on both ends of the floor for CP3, and while his offense has been long considered elite, his defense has improved leaps and bounds over the past calendar year. Bradley’s decisionmaking will be key, as the IMG Academy product will definitely need to pick and choose when he looks for his own offense.

SHAEDON SHARPE PLAYER SPOTLIGHT Shaedon Sharpe used the spring to cement himself as one of the best prospects in the 2022 graduating class. The 6-foot-4 Dream City Christian (AZ) product is currently ranked 8th in the 2022 player rankings by 247 Sports, validating his explosive and consistent play over the course of the past calendar year. Sharpe is a walking highlightreel, and while he’s capable of jumping over you, he has a bag of tricks offensively that allows him to beat you from all over the floor. He is fresh off a 27-point performance in a win over Team WhyNot, and exploded for 47 points in a mid-May game against E1T1 Elite. Sharpe ia a heck of a lot of fun to watch, and he’ll be the go-to-guy on a UPLAY squad that put up an 8-4 record this spring/summer in limited action.

OVERVIEW LivOn heads into North Augusta playing the best basketball of their season. Head coach Randy Livingston is depending on a committee approach to attack the opposition at pool play, bringing forth an 11-man rotation that is adept at shooting and controlling the boards. They don’t have the star power of other teams at Peach Jam, but Livingston will definitely have them competing at a high level. Kyran Ratliff (247 No. 162) is the most promising recruit in the rotation, and the 6-foot-9 big man has proven to be efficient around the basket. They probably don’t use Ratliff’s services enough offensively, but he is more than capable of imposing his will and taking over a game on the boards. Ratliff will transfer to Dream City Christian for his senior season, a move that should help him take the next level in his game. If LivOn has any intention of remaining competitive in their pool, Ratliff will have to be big. Head coach Randy Livingston is one of the best Xs and Os guys on the circuit, and he’ll have his work cut out for him as he doesn’t have the typical star power on this roster. They sport a 12-8 record for the season, and hold wins over the Atlanta Celtics and Game Elite, meaning they are more than capable of playing at a high level. This team will be extra-dangerous playing with zero expectations, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see them ruin a couple days in North Augusta. 113
THE STAR 6-foot-2 rising senior Bryce Weinmunson has turned himself into a sure-fire Division I recruit, and he will be relied upon to score consistently. 6-foot-5 guard Garrison Powell showed well for himself during the first live period, as did Jordan Decuir. Both will see big minutes, and LivOn could desperately use one of them to make a big jump. 6-foot8 forward Aidan Bevrotte joined the fold late, and should provide some nice front court depth alongside Ratliff.

KYLER VANDERJAGT PLAYER SPOTLIGHT The Family Detroit is known for pumping out talented guards, and Kyler Vanderjagt looks to be the next in line for the Michigan-based Nike EYBL affiliate. Recently committed to become a Belmont Bruin, the 6-foot-4 Vanderjagt is a gifted shooter from the perimeter, and his ability to attack the basketball has improved exponentially over the past year. Starring at Grand Rapids Northview during the high school season, Vanderjagt earned a First Team All State Selection before making his way into grassroots action. He helped lead The Family Detroit to an 11-9 pre-Peach Jam record, operating as the go-to-guy in a guardheavy lineup. The Family Detroit is in the toughest regular season pool, one that includes match-ups against Team Final, The City Rocks, Team Durant, and the Nightrydas. Expect Vanderjagt to come out firing, and his squad will need every bit of offensive firepower that he provides. 115

OVERVIEW Strive For Greatness (CA) has one of the more complete rosters from top to bottom throughout the whole EYBL. Currently holding a 12-5 overall record, this star studded team has picked up some quality wins. At the Juneteenth Invitational, SFG went 3-1 with wins against ranked opponents in Southern Assault (TX), Drive Nation (TX), and Sheed Wallace Select (NC). Most recently, they competed in The Battle’s Summer Showcase, held at St. Vincent-St. Mary high school alma mater of LeBron James. Strive played four consecutive shoe-sponsored teams, finishing with a 2-2 record including wins against C2K Elite UAA and All Ohio Red EYBL. The players completing the SFG roster have never been on stage quite like Peach Jam, so it will be interesting to see how this unit responds. UCLA commit Amari Bailey is a borderline generational talent. The 3rd ranked player from the 2022 class can do so many things on the court that benefits his team, but when it comes to scoring, Bailey is a natural. The lefty guard is one of the more crafty finishers around the rim, but he’s fully capable of throwing down some thunderous dunks. Bailey is a great ball handler who can play off or on the ball, and his versatility on defense will be valuable. This will be Bailey’s debut with Strive For Greatness this summer, and the people should be ready for a show. 2022 4-star Jaxon Kohler is the ideale stretch four that any team would want to have. Standing at 6’8, Kohler has some of the best footwork in the nation. He has the ability to score with his back towards the basket or facing up. Kohler catches everything that is thrown his way. He is a huge part of the team, Kolher is willing to do the things on the court that others won’t, he is their glue guy. 117
H/T Dawsoncrtv
THE STAR Bronny James enters the Peach Jam with a lot of hype, simply due to the name on the back of his jersey. James is currently ranked 30th overall in the class of 2023, and he returned from a knee injury in June that kept him out all spring. Bronny is an elite athlete, and just like his father, his game is very smooth. In transition, James flourishes, especially if he’s able to get a rebound and go. Filling lanes and attacking the basket is what he has shown he is best at during the few games he has played in.
