THE SKINNY: pioneers
Tyler Johnson comes out of the 2024 class, and he has a lot to prove. Recently picking up an offer from Texas Tech, Johnson’s list will drastically as he is just a sophomore. Johnson stands at 6-foot-8 and offers up the ability to defend four positions. His versatility should provide Oak Ridge with a dangerous weapon in the frontcourt, and his role should continue to grow as he gets more comfortable at the varsity level.
THE STAR:
Fabio Basili had himself a stock rising summer playing with E1T1 United on the EYBL circuit. The 6-foot-5 guard is one of the most exciting players to watch from the state of Florida, and arguably the most underrated player in the state. Basili’s high-energy and intense style-of-play often gives him an extra boost over the opposition, and it was on full-display to close out the 2021 circuit season; Basili averaged 26.7 points, 7.0 assists, and 5.0 rebounds in five games at The Circuit Championship, earning 2nd-team All-event honors. When the ball is in his hands, be ready for a show. Basili can make defenders miss and pass the ball at an extremely high level. Holding offers from schools such as TCU and SMU, Basili’s list should continue to grow as he progresses through his senior season.
