Entering the Naveen Jindal Young Global Research Fellowship feels like stepping into a realm where intellect merges with adventure and becomes a journey of discovery. An initiative by Jindal Global University (JGU) unites young Ph.D. scholars and faculty members into a dynamic network of collaboration across disciplines. One of those is our very own Ms. Airah Murielle Antonio, the Division’s Coordinator in Languages and Social Sciences. During this one-year journey, fellows join a global network of scholars and partake in online research workshops led by experts. These sessions cover research methods, academic writing, and crossdisciplinary discussions supported by mentors and leaders who sharpen their ideas and challenge their intellectual prowess. This adventure extends beyond virtual learning. With the support of Ms. Airah’s institution, she embarked on an international expedition. This became a reality for a select few, including those from JRU, who earned their slot through an intensive selection process. Signing their fellowship contract marked the beginning of workshops and, eventually, a life-changing two-month experience in India. Ms. Airah pictured herself boarding a flight from Manila to India, her luggage packed with anticipation for the months ahead. It was initially difficult for her to adjust to a new diet, but she satisfied her food cravings through online delivery alternatives. Since the campus she attended abroad was mostly deserted for the winter break, she embraced the quiet—but she could not help but miss the hustle and bustle of her home university. Then, the experience took an unexpected turn. Eager to break free from the routine of campus life, she and her fellow researchers set out for the north, seeking a change of pace and a breath of fresh scenery. Under the guidance of Dr. Trivedi, they explored the stunning landscapes of Dehradun, Rishikesh, and Mussoorie. The crisp mountain air, the spiritual ambiance of the Ganges, and the genuine warmth of the locals reshaped her SEEK STORIES. WRITE LEGACIES.

She and her peers wandered through the vibrant chaos of New Delhi, traced the royal echoes of Jaipur’s past, and even arranged a meaningful meeting with Philippines Ambassador to India, Josel Ignacio—an inspiring testament to how the fellowship nurtured connections that crossed continents. But perhaps the most soul-stirring revelation arrived when she beheld the ethereal winter line of Mussoorie, a rare celestial marvel that mirrored her journey: unforeseen, awe-inspiring, and deeply transformative. Her time in India unfolded as more than just an academic chapter; it became a rich understanding of curiosity awakened and cultures intertwined. It was a lesson written not in textbooks but in shared stories, kindred spirits, and the quiet beauty of discovery. As the fellowship neared its end, she couldn’t help but wonder—what might have unfolded had the journey been longer? Could extended days nurture richer research, forge stronger bonds, or carve greater paths? Though fleeting, its echoes linger. She departed India carrying more than just a portfolio of scholarly work; she left with a heart expanded by global perspectives and a newfound admiration for the limitless growth that lies ahead for those daring to step outside the familiar. The Naveen Jindal Young Global Research Fellowship is far from just an academic pursuit—it is an invitation to the curious, the bold, and the open-hearted. It calls to those who long to explore new horizons, grow through learning, and build relationships between cultures.
