A NOTE FROM THE PRESIDENTS
What a year 2026 has been for the Barbarians and Barbets!
Across rugby and netball, this season has been filled with plenty of laughs, hard work, great wins, tough losses, a few sore bodies and, most importantly, plenty of memories. Our Barbets netballers started the year with an “anyone can join” attitude, bringing together mums, friends, new players and familiar faces. What started as a team getting together to play netball and have some fun quickly became a great group of friends and a little Barbets family. Through the wins, losses and close games, they continued to turn up, support one another and enjoy being part of the team. On the rugby field, our 1st Grade side started the year incredibly strong before facing a challenging run of injuries. Despite this, the team continued to show resilience and determination throughout the season. Our 3rd Grade side finished fourth and secured a well-deserved place in the finals, narrowly going down in the minor semi-final after a great season. Our Women’s 10s also had plenty to celebrate, finishing second in the regular season before going on to claim the Challenge Cup Championship — a fantastic achievement and reward for their hard work and teamwork. A huge thank you to every player who represented the Barbarians and Barbets this year, along with our coaches, volunteers, committee members, families, supporters and sponsors. Your contribution, whether on the field, court or behind the scenes, is what makes our club what it is. Congratulations to everyone on a fantastic 2026 season. We can be proud not only of what was achieved, but of the friendships made, memories created and the way our club continued to come together throughout the year.
