1 in 5 people are neurodivergent, meaning their brain functions differently in one or more ways than is considered standard or typical. Their unique traits are often characterized as "neurodiverse conditions". The idea is that people experience and interact with the world around them in many different ways; there is no one “right” way of thinking, learning, and behaving, and differences are not viewed as deficits. Theyare“unique”andhavealottooffertheworldifonlygiventheopportunity.

Managing the care and unique needs of these individuals can be daunting and sometimes leaves one feeling very isolated with no idea where to turn. You are not aloneandsupportmaybecloserthanyouthink.

July
Professionalism Respect Integrity Dedication Excellence

With the recognition that numerous county employees are struggling with these issues, a support group is being formed where we can share knowledge, ideas, and sometimes just provide an understanding friend to lean on. In addition to learning from each other, there also will be speakers and other resources that may introduce available assistance. While working with the full support of County Administration, this is an employee driven group, which is in the beginning stages and can be developed as need be.

Join us on August 11, 2023, for our inaugural meeting (location information to follow in upcoming Roundabout). As this involves protected information, we cannot identify impacted employees to issue individual invitations for membership. All are welcome. If you think you may benefit from participating, please join us. Don’t struggle alone when support is available.
