Teressa Lantz Fitness Specialist We would love to hear from you!
Would you take a moment to fill out a short survey for us?
Let’s be honest: we all know we should be moving more and eating better, but sometimes the couch is just so comfortable, and those potato chips practically beg to be eaten. But here’s the thing getting off that couch and onto your feet could be the secret to living your best life, no matter how many candles were on your last birthday cake
Remember when you were a kid, and running around was as natural as breathing? Somewhere along the way, many of us swapped playgrounds for office chairs. But our bodies are designed to move, and they love it when we do Whether you’re 7 or 70, staying active keeps your muscles strong, your heart happy, improve mood (thanks, endorphins!), reduce stress, and enhance overall well-being
Engaging in regular physical activity offers numerous benefits for people of all ages. For children and adolescents, it aids in the development of strong bones, muscles, and joints, and promotes mental health by reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression As we age, maintaining an active lifestyle becomes even more critical Regular movement helps to manage weight, reduce the risk of chronic diseases like diabetes and heart disease, and maintain mobility and balance, which are essential for independence in older adults The experts recommend aiming for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise per week. That’s just a fancy way of saying you could go for a brisk walk, ride a bike, or even dance around the living room for about 30 minutes, five times a week And if you can’t find 30 minutes in one go, don’t sweat it 10-minute bursts work, too You might just find that you feel so good, you can easily exceed 150 minutes The important thing is to keep moving!
Now, let’s talk food. We’re not saying you can never have that slice of cake or your favorite comfort food, but balance is key Imagine your body as a high-performance sports car (sweet, right?) You wouldn’t fuel it with low-grade gas, would you? Same goes for your body Eating a diet full of fruits, veggies, whole grains, and lean proteins is like giving your body premium fuel It keeps you energized, helps your brain function at its best, and can even keep those annoying doctor visits to a minimum. And here’s a pro tip: eating well doesn’t have to be boring. Love pizza? Try topping a whole grain crust with a rainbow of veggies Craving something sweet? Fresh berries with a dollop of yogurt might just hit the spot It’s all about finding what works for you and having a little fun with it
Often
Here’s where the magic happens combine moving more with eating well, and you’ve got the ultimate recipe for a life that’s not just longer, but fuller and happier, too Whether you’re dancing in your living room, playing tag with your kids (or grandkids), or enjoying a colorful salad, you’re doing more than just taking care of your body You’re investing in a future where you feel good, look good, and have the energy to do whatever makes you smile. It’s never too early or late to consider what you want your quality of life to look like one year, 5 years, and even 20, 30, or 40 years from now. What do you physically want to be able to do? So, next time the couch calls your name, remember you’re one brisk walk away from feeling fabulous And when you reach for a snack, think about how great you’ll feel after fueling up with something nutritious Life’s too short not to move, eat well, and laugh a lot so let’s get to it!
Schedule your one on one with Teressa, Fitness and Wellness Specialist today!
She is available for nutrition and workout plan consultations as well as individual training, stretching, and mobility work.
“I'm not a licensed therapist, but I can always help with mindset and behavior change when it comes to helping someone become healthier and happier! I just want people to start connecting moving, eating healthier, and breaking bad habits to a better quality of life! Always happy to answer any questions anyone has as well.”
