The Whale Bold explorers squeeze into the belly of an enormous inflatable Sperm Whale where they find themselves in the depths of the bubbling, kelp-swirling ocean. They encounter an acrobatic diver who leads them swimmingly through the age old journey of the life of an ancient Leatherback Turtle. With the use of exquisite puppets, comedy and music, Circo Rum Ba Ba explore the tale of sea creatures and their battle to survive in an ocean full of rubbish. The audience help to save the turtle and the Whale from a deluge of plastic and travel from the Indian Ocean to a coral reef, leaving feeling empowered that everyone can make a difference. This event takes place at Tewkesbury Town Hall & Gardens.

When we were planning the season you see in this brochure over a year ago, while still in the depths of the pandemic, we knew we wanted to focus on one thing: fun. We could not have predicted the economic and political times we are now in, and that without a doubt joy is just what the doctor ordered.

Our season delivers this on all fronts. From drag queens to line dancing to sexy circus to murder mysteries, we have an autumn full of fun ahead of us culminating in the epitome of Christmas joy, our Panto, Snow White! We also have some very exciting changes happening at the Roses. This October we launch Roses Young Creatives, an ambitious revamp of our renowned youth theatre, that will give young people the opportunity to make and/or star in theatre and film. Alongside this there’s so much you can get involved in: the Feel Good Festival is back to get your creative juices flowing with painting, dance, sewing and much more; a new series of choirs that use singing to promote health and wellbeing, and a creative club for children on the autistic spectrum. A huge thanks to our supporters for making this possible! Here's wishing you light and joy, through the dark days of winter.

Snow White, the palace orphan, is horrified that her evil queen Malvinha is stripping Tewkesbury’s natural resources to fund her desperate bid to be the fairest in the land. She sets out to save the county with the help of her buxom Nanny, the palace IT guy and some very strange small people. Little does she know that the queen is out to get her with a dodgy magic apple and a very talkative mirror … Back for another bite of the apple this Christmas are the creators of King Arthur: The Panto!; the BAFTAwinning writer Maurice Gran (Birds of a Feather) and local playwright Nick Wilkes (the Almost series). Our 2022 pantomime is another classic tale brought bang up to date with a sharp, witty script that the whole family will love. Come and join the fun!

Cate Cody “I’m old-fashioned...” sings Cate Cody in a hauntingly beautiful voice that has been compared to a young Peggy Lee. She might well be describing herself, because these days it’s very rare to find a jazz chanteuse with such authentic phrasing, who genuinely understands the nuances, and is capable of capturing the idiomatic gradations and modulations required to swing. For this special session, Cate is delighted to be accompanied by Tom Kincaid (currently pianist for Elkie Brooks) and double bassist Tom Mark, both the first choice of many musicians. Talk Dr Richard Shepherd: Unnatural Causes
Dr Shepherd has performed over 23,000 autopsies, including some of the most high-profile cases of recent times; the Hungerford Massacre, the Princess Diana inquiry, and 9/11. He has faced serial killers, natural disaster, 'perfect murders' and freak accidents. His evidence has put killers behind bars, freed the innocent, and turned open-and-shut cases on their heads. Yet all this has come at a huge personal cost. Join Dr Richard Shepherd for an evening which promise to be utterly fascinating. Unnatural Causes will tell the story of not only the cases and bodies that have haunted Doctor Shepherd the most, but also how to live a life steeped in death.

Comedy / Drama Dirty Dusting Gladys, Olive and Elsie are three “vintage style” cleaning ladies who, threatened with redundancy, chance on an ‘unconventional’ way of earning some extra cash. A wrong number requiring a Sex Chat Line rings into the office and gives them a great idea... why not start their own Sex Chat Line? After all, their age and appearance won’t matter on the telephone and providing they can keep this a secret from Dave, their boss, they could be onto a winner! What could possibly go wrong?! Written by Ed Waugh and Trevor Wood, this production is directed by Leah Bell who injects this hilarious play with a fresh and lively approach coupled with her own unique comedic style.

Meet the forensic pathologist, Dr Richard Shepherd. A detective in his own right, Dr Shepherd has solved the mystery of sudden and unexplained deaths and now continues his hugely successful 2021 theatre tour in 2022.

The Nutcracker Moldova's Crown Ballet comes to the UK to enchant you with their delightful production of The Nutcracker. This charming and kindly fairy tale is one of the jewels of Tchaikovsky's repertoire. The original Christmas story is based on The Nutcracker and the Mouse King written by E.T.A. Hoffmann. It tells the story of Marie, a sad little girl, whose godfather, Drosselmeier, gives her a Nutcracker doll as a present on Christmas Eve. In her lively imagination it turns into a prince and the magic starts… This eternal seasonal favourite will be an unforgettable journey in the run-up to Christmas and an ideal introduction to audiences of any age to the magic that is classical ballet.
