Welcome I have recently taken over as Chair of The Roses from Peter Cottingham, so I thought I should introduce myself! I joined the Board of Trustees nearly 3 years ago and am a frequent visitor to The Roses. I was closely involved in the refurbishment that took place in 2015. When finances permit, we shall press on with the next phase so that all of the theatre is up to the same high standard. The Roses is a very special venue, and we love rising to the challenge of putting on a wide variety of high quality events for you. This season’s highlights include some truly electrifying performances from companies such as Motionhouse, Blackeyed Theatre and Ballet Cymru; some very exciting live music including Blake and Steeleye Span alongside many popular tributes; a film programme packed to the rafters with new releases and of course, The Roses’ 2017 Pantomime, Sleeping Beauty, which runs from 2nd to 31st December. Everyone loves a good pantomime, so make sure you book early - you can save £2.50 per ticket if you book by the end of September! We could not do any of what we do without the tireless commitment of our staff and volunteers, and I would like to thank them here for all their efforts to make your visits a pleasure. The truly amazing eleven piece band, which includes the ‘And Finally Horns’, faithfully re-create all the classic hits from the Phil Collins and Genesis timeless back catalogue. The Roses Youth Theatre The Roses Youth Theatre is a great way to get involved with one of Gloucestershire’s most active theatres. Each week we deliver 5 workshops for children and young people aged 5 – 21, developing skills in acting, improvisation, script work and acting for stage and screen. Alongside our team all Youth Theatre members develop confidence through drama, voice coaching and movement. The Roses hosts the youth theatre’s main performance each year, affording members the opportunity to experience first-hand the inner workings of a professionally run venue. We also offer nationally recognised Arts Award qualifications and are regular participants in the National Theatre’s Connections festival, Strike A Light Theatre Festival and the Edinburgh Fringe.

Geoffrey Rush turns in a typically charismatic performance as eccentric Swiss artist Alberto Giacometti in this illuminating biopic. Paris 1964, and following a chance encounter, Giacometti persuades critic James Lord to pose for a portrait, promising it will take just a couple of days. Weeks later, the painting shows no sign of completion and Lord realises his entire life has been hijacked by this erratic genius.
Combining nerve shredding suspense with a deeply human story of compassion and forgiveness, this Oscar nominated drama tells the little known story of a group of young German POWs in Denmark, who were forced to clear a beach of thousands of landmines under the command of fearsome Danish Sergeant Carl Rasmussen. The season opens with a new production of Bellini’s bel canto tragedy Norma, starring Sondra Radvanovsky in the title role, which she has sung to acclaim at the Met in 2013. Joyce DiDonato co-stars as Norma’s colleague and rival, Adalgisa, opposite Joseph Calleja as Pollione.

An exciting young cast stars in Franco Zeffirelli’s classic production of La Bohème, the most performed opera in Met history. Sonya Yoncheva stars as Mimì opposite Michael Fabiano as the passionate writer Rodolfo.
Angela Meade makes her Met role debut as the title character in Semiramide. Rossini’s opera, which has not been seen at the Met in 25 years, will be conducted by Maurizio Benini and features Elizabeth DeShong as the Commander of the Assyrian army Arsace.

Phelim McDermott returns to the Met staging Mozart’s comedy, led by David Robertson. Set in the 1950s on Coney Island, the cast features Amanda Majeski as the conflicted Fiordiligi and Serena Malfi as her sister, Dorabella.
Met Music Director Emeritus James Levine conducts a revival which has not been seen at the Met since 2006. Starring Sonya Yoncheva as Luisa opposite Piotr Beczala as Rodolfo in Verdi’s tragedy about a young woman who sacrifices her own happiness in an attempt to save her father’s life.
Massenet’s enchanting opera Cendrillon, based on Cinderella, premieres at the Met conducted by Bertrand de Billy and directed by Laurent Pelly, whose Met credits include staging Donizetti’s La Fille du Régiment and Massenet’s Manon.

Fees And Charges
A postage charge of £1 per booking applies if you wish to have your tickets posted to you. You can avoid this charge by collecting your tickets from the Box Office. A voluntary contribution will be requested with each transaction to help secure the future of The Roses.
Reservations & Refunds
Reservations: Payment is required for reserved tickets within 3 days of the reservation, or 3 days prior to the date of the event, whichever is the soonest. Any reserved tickets not paid for by this time will be released. Exchanges: At our discretion, tickets can be exchanged for a different performance of the same event. An administration fee of £2 per ticket applies. We do not offer exchanges on tickets for different events. Refunds: We do not offer refunds on any tickets unless the event is cancelled or postponed. If you are unable to attend a performance, and the performance is sold out, we will offer to resell your tickets and credit your account. Members may be credited on performances that they are unable to attend provided we are notified prior to the event.
Only food and drinks purchased on the premises can be consumed whilst at The Roses. We reserve the right to refuse admission to intoxicated or disorderly people. Age guidance stated for live shows (where applicable) is provided by the visiting companies. The Roses is unable to accept responsibility for accuracy.
Ticket Types Full price: Adults Concessions Available (where specified) to children aged 3 – 15, to people receiving a state pension, those in receipt of Disability Living Allowance, Job Seekers Allowance or other documented benefits. You may be required to prove eligibility. Under 3s go free, provided they sit on a parent or guardian’s lap. Concessions are £2 off tickets for live events (excludes Band C on banded events) and £1 off for film. Families £2 off adult tickets for all parties of 3-9 when the group includes at least 1 child. Each party must include at least 1 person under the age of 16 and 1 adult. We do not charge for children under the age of 3, provided they sit on a parent or guardian’s lap. 16-25s A limited number of seats are available at £5 off the advertised price across any live event that offers concessions (excludes Price Band C on banded events).
