Kim Lowings & The Greenwood

The Carpenters Songbook

Big Girls Don’t Cry

Inspired by the folk tradition, Kim Lowings and The Greenwood perform their songs with a contemporary twist.

Described by Richard Carpenter on national TV as a “very accurate and a faithful portrayal”, Wendy Roberts’ performances of chart-topping hits like Top of the World, We’ve Only Just Begun and Goodbye To Love are critically acclaimed worldwide.

10th Anniversary Tour Celebrating a decade of Big Girls Don’t Cry featuring The East Coast Boys

Their live shows are an energetic blend of original compositions and traditional songs. Kim Lowings, Andrew Lowings, Tim Rogers and Dave Sutherland bring together their multi-instrumental skill and individual experience resulting in an innovative and sensitive approach to arrangements. The group began as a collective in 2011 with Kim and her Dad, Andrew. Since then the Greenwood has become an established four-piece on the British folk scene. Their new album, Wild & Wicked Youth, will be released this Autumn. “British folk music continues to remain in very good hands” Folk Radio UK

At the height of her popularity, Wendy hung up her microphone to begin a family. Since then few shows have offered the depth and authenticity of Wendy’s incredible voice. Tempted out of retirement for one final tour, it’s a chance to genuinely relive the timeless quality of Richard and Karen’s music. “Wendy’s voice is very accurate and a faithful portrayal” Richard Carpenter

Dublin Legends

Luke Daniels

Faith: The George Michael Legacy

(Formerly of The Dubliners) Following the sudden death of founding member Barney McKenna in 2012 and John Sheahan’s decision to retire it was agreed that The Dubliners, as a touring band, would come to an end and The Dublin Legends were born. The Dublin Legends (Sean Cannon, Paul Watchorn, Gerry O’Connor and Shay Kavanagh) have over 100 years of performing experience between them and Sean was the lead singer with The Dubliners for over 30 of them. They will, of course, continue to play all the classic songs and ballads known the world over; Whiskey In The Jar, Dirty Old Town, The Wild Rover, Seven Drunken Nights, The Rare Auld Times, Molly Malone, The Irish Rover, Black Velvet Band and many more.

Monday 23 April 7.30pm

The BBC award-winning singer, folk musician and composer is described by critics as “a genius” for recent work with his ‘polyphon’; combining 19th century music technology with acoustic and digital sounds, all on large rotating steel discs with which he sings, plays melodeon, guitar and piano. Original songs and tunes sit alongside masterful acoustic reworkings of popular songs by Nic Jones, Jerry Rafferty and Stevie Wonder. Luke’s latest album Singing Ways To Feel More Junior was featured on Folk Radio UK as “classic contemporary folk that encompasses humble woodnotes to syrupy synthesized twists”.

As seen on TV’s Stars In Their Eyes, Wayne Dilks portrays the late superstar George Michael in this outstanding tribute show. This amazing show is a celebration of 35 years of hit records and will take you on a journey from George’s early years with Wham through to his successful solo career, with hits such as Club Tropicana, Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go, I’m Your Man, Faith, Fast Love and Outside and timeless ballads like Careless Whisper, A Different Corner and Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me.

Luke is a former member of both the Cara Dillon Band and Riverdance Orchestra. He also set up a series of folk academies providing free folk music and instrumental tuition to hundreds of children in Cumbria, Glasgow, Argyll & Bute and Aberdeen.

A Brave Face Afghanistan: 2009. Under bright blue skies, a small girl stands and watches the soldier. She smiles, just like his sister… Ryan is there to see the world, learn a trade, get a life. Training is complete, combat is a buzz; he’s part of a team, and knows his job. But on one particular hot and desperate tour of duty, Ryan sees things he can’t talk about, to anyone. And then, when he returns home, the trouble really begins. Created from two years of research with ex and serving soldiers, families and health professionals, A Brave Face explores PostTraumatic Stress, an unseen and often unrecognised injury of war, and the impact it can have on even the closest of families. With compassion and fearlessness, Vamos brings its trademark, wordless, full mask style to a story that needs to be told.

From The Eagles‘ first charttopping single Take It Easy to their final History of the Eagles tour, enjoy an evening of non-stop hits including faultless performances of Peaceful Easy Feeling, Tequila Sunrise, One of These Nights, New Kid in Town, Life in the Fast Lane, Heartache Tonight, Desperado, How Long and solo hits The Heat Is On and Boys Of Summer. Walk Right Back

Magic: A Kind Of Queen

Walk Right Back tells the story of the most successful duo of all time - The Everly Brothers. Featuring hits such as Bye Bye Love, All I Have To Do Is Dream and Cathy’s Clown, this unique concert-based musical entwines the wonderful, sad yet glorious story of The Everly Brothers around those trademark “harmonies from heaven”.

Magic, the first and still the best tribute to Queen, perform all of the iconic band’s greatest hits plus some you may not have heard for a while, in their latest show.

Chicago Blues Brothers: Back In Black

Follow the brothers’ rise from humble country beginnings to the biggest act the world had ever seen, then their inevitable split and decade-long feud, to the magnificent reunion that gave them back to the world, and back to each other.

Magic perform completely live. With five vocals to back up the powerful lead vocal of the dynamic Taylor Payne, Magic recreate all the complex harmonies that are Queen’s trademark recording sound. This, along with two guitars, bass, drums and the brilliant piano and keyboard skills of Dave Chapman, produces a sound that is second to none. While not attempting to emulate Queen visually, Magic creates all the excitement of a Queen live show.

Infectious, dazzling, riotous, exuberant and spirited, the legacy of Jake and Elwood has been jump-started for a new generation with an energy that’s impossible to resist. The Chicago Blues Brothers are on a mission once again – in a high-octane, on-stage party you can’t afford to miss.

Determined to pursue her love on to the shore she makes a bargain with an evil Sea Witch, but it comes at a heavy price. With powerful virtuosity and stunning pas de deux, the dancers display an exuberance almost too big for the stage.

An American In Paris This breathtakingly beautiful Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, inspired by the Oscar-winning MGM film, tells the impassioned story of discovering love in the ‘City of Light’. Featuring the gorgeous music and lyrics of George and Ira Gershwin (including the classic hits ‘S Wonderful and I Got Rhythm), stunning designs, and showstopping choreography. Jerry Mulligan is an American GI striving to make it as a painter in a city suddenly bursting with hope and possibility. Following a chance encounter with a beautiful young dancer named Lise, the streets of Paris become the backdrop to a sensuous, modern romance of art, friendship and love in the aftermath of war...

Giselle

Sun 8 Apr 7pm | 2hrs 20mins | Pre-recorded Prima ballerina Svetlana Zakharova personifies this ultimate ballerina role in the classical repertoire, alongside the sensational Sergei Polunin as Albrecht, in this chilling, yet luminous ballet that continues to captivate audiences for over 150 years at the Bolshoi.

Coppelia

Sun 10 Jun 4pm | 2hrs 45mins | Live broadcast The Bolshoi’s unique version of Coppélia exhibits a fascinating reconstruction of the original 19th century choreography of this ebullient comedy involving a feisty heroine, a boyish fiancee with a wandering eye, and an old dollmaker.
