KIT TEN THINGS ABOUT ME
1 I have been playing the bagpipes since I was nine years old Although that might seem weird for someone with a surname like Federico, my mother is actually from Scotland My father’s side has been in Canada since my greatgrandfather immigrated before the First World War
2 I am the oldest of six children — three boys and three girls — and there are 24 years between me and my youngest sibling
3 I like to dress up — like really dress up I love ties and vests and cufflinks: think Roger Sterling from Mad Men or Nucky Thompson from Boardwalk
Empire
4 I also like to sew Not only do I do a lot of my own alterations (see above), but I also make costumes and historical reproductions Some of my War of 1812 uniforms have been displayed in local museums
5 I love to travel I especially love the atmosphere of cities like London, New
York, Hamburg, Milan, Hong Kong, Tokyo …
6 I have eclectic tastes in music and really enjoy listening to vintage records
Among my favourites are an extended version of Donna Summer’s I Feel
Love that I brought back from Berlin, and Miles Davis’s soundtrack to the
French film, Ascenseur pour l’échafaud, that I came across in Vienna
7 I attended Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama, when I was in 10th grade
8 I have a thing for vintage cars, especially little British and European sportscars I own a 1970 Triumph Spitfire Mark 3 that I refurbished a few years ago with considerable help from my wife, son, and daughter
9 I am a real film buff While I enjoy movies from a range of genres and eras,
I do tend to come back to clever and/or gritty pictures with snappy dialogue, like The Maltese Falcon, The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (the 1974 version), Alien, Margin Call, and Quai d’Orsay Tunes of Glory is a film of a different kind altogether, but also one I have watched so many times I could recite it by heart
10 I was a fan of Kate Bush long before Stranger Things … and of the White
Stripes long before I moved to Detroit F
