Flexible Working for all The University has extended the statutory flexible working scheme (for parents and carers) to all University staff. To be eligible, the individual must have worked for the University continuously for 26 weeks if they qualify under the statutory right, or 1 year for all other employees at the date the application is made.

Discounted Bus Travel Alternatively employees have the option to sacrifice the agreed amount for a monthly bus ticket (for First Bus or Stagecoach) for the purposes of travelling to work (although it can also be used at weekends). Bike to work scheme Employees can sacrifice part of their salary for a period of 12 months to pay for a bike and accessories for the purpose of travelling to work. No tax and national insurance is payable for the amount sacrificed and you can therefore acquire the bike of your choice at around two thirds of the normal price. Voluntary Health Benefits The University has agreed discounted rates for Private Healthcare, Health Cash Plans and Dental Plans for its staff.

Health Cash Plan You choose a level of premium (which has been heavily discounted for RGU), which provides cash back for you and your family for everyday health expenses like dental and optical costs as well as specialist consultations/treatments, personal accident benefits, hospital admissions and much more.
