INTERNATIONAL GUIDELINES FOR

P R O B L E M S O LV I N G

Reminiscing about International Night (11 April), we thought it fitting to explore some of the different ways of solving problems around the world ...

the relationship between words and their meaning is fascinating, and there are so many feelings and ideas that we cannot even put words to — in English at least. INTER-COLLEGE

Water Polo & Swimming 30/03/14

Correspondant Molly Goudie (sports

We Came. We Floundered. We Polo’d.

Upper hand RMC showed off strong College spirit both on the sidelines and within the pool (a.k.a. arena-of-death) Big moment Joce Bartram’s super-human prowess in goals; also, Menzies Women’s & Men’s Relay Teams (coming 1st and 2nd, respectively) Could’ve changed when ... The Julia Jelbart and Molly Gouldie attack combo pommelled the opposition’s goal with shots

committee)

Things went swimmingly for ... Visually impaired players – namely, Roger and Aaron #DemAznGenetics – who played without glasses ... there was some concern that they’d mistake short, tubby opponents for the ball, however both soldiered on! Not so swimmingly for Team structure, which, at times, verged on ‘Chaos Theory’ (10 points for effort, though!) What does it all mean? This ordeal round of Inter-Coll Sports sees Menzies staying in the Top-3 of the ladder!

Whilst the Men didn’t fair too well against the Village, they managed to score one goal against DLC (credit to Timmy Pearson). The Women’s Team held their own, 2 – 3 to DLC, and, quite impressively, 7 – 0 to Menzies!!  • –––––––––––––––––––– UP NEXT: NETBALL (SAT 3RD MAY, MQU GYM)

RMC’S GREEN INITIATIVES Although the 10 Ways to Save Energy campaign may have ended last month, it doesn’t mean your energy-saving efforts should too – after all, isn’t this a great habit to maintain?

TOP-DOWN: Ivana washes her clothes in cold water and dries them in the cold – 10 points to Gryffindor! // Leon can teach you not only how to Dougie, but also how to turn off your plugs at the mains // Livia – SVF Rep 2014 – chilling with her new enviro-friendly clothes drier

Congratulations to all our Member’s who participated in our campaign throughout March by turning off unnecessary power outlets and/or lights, and becoming more energy conscious. Here are but some of our favourite RMC contributions to the MQ Sustainability Facebook Page (www.facebook.com/macquariesustainability) ...

.......................................... The next of RMC’s Green Initiaitves is ‘Keeping it R-Rated’ ... (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, that is) — stay tuned!  •

{ XOXO }

gossip goat introducing menzies’ newest guru:

here to answer your questions about College, Uni, and life’s other conundrums

THE FIRST LAD(D)Y Ever since I laid eyes on her at Awkward Lunch, I’ve been bessoted with our Leading Lady Taylor Anderton. I would gladly be the sound block to her Presidential Gavel, but how do I let her know my true feelings? Infatuated Fresher, N-Block Ahhh, a classic case of the Fresher Pheremones... To match her standing within College, I would recommend emulating the strategies of prominent world leaders: —in this case, Gladimir Putin’s Three-Point Plan to Success: 1. Go outdoors and show her your adventurous side. Some goat-to options include feeding baby elk, swimming with dolphins, and wading through Siberian Lakes 2. Declare your love in a Manifesto – it’s been tried-and-tested by Engels and Mao, it’ll work for you! I’ve sourced a template for your reference: TODAY, WE WRITE A MANIFESTO TODAY, OUR SECOND SENTENCE STARTS WITH THE FIRST WORD OF THE FIRST SENTENCE. WE WRITE A SHORT SENTENCE.

THE VOICE  10

THEN A SHORTER ONE. THEN A REALLY LONG ONE THAT MAYBE DOESN’T MAKE SENSE BUT IS IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWED BY ONE. WORD. SENTENCES. THEN WE MAKE OUR POINT EVEN CLEARER. BY USING FRAGMENTED PREPOSITIONAL PHRASES. BY REPEATING THAT FIRST PREPOSITION. BY DOING IT A TOTAL OF THREE TIMES. AND THEN WE HAVE ANOTHER REALLY LONG SENTENCE THAT BUILDS UP EXCITEMENT FOR OUR OVERARCHING CONCEPT THAT IS SUMMED UP IN A WORD THAT MAKES ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE: KUMQUAT.

3. Invade a small neighbouring-territory and claim it in her honour (I hear the Freshers in A-Block have been pairing up faster than chromosomes, and may need your help in ‘restoring order’) Should things fall through, there’s always Sadimir’s Contingency Plan: 4. Retreat, and listen to Yegor Timberlake’s smash hit: Crimea River whilst your recover ~ xoxo G g —————————————— Dear Gossip Goat ... Email your question (max. 80 words) to: thermcvoice@gmail.com and we’ll forward it on to Gossip Goat

EWE-GINA GEORGE’S DIARY: AN EXTRACT Let me tell you something about A-Block. We were best of Blocks last year. I know, right? It’s soooo embarrassing. I don’t even – whatever. So then this year, like, if we would blow them off to hang out with the other blocks, they’d be like, “Why don’t we get invited to hang out?” and then we’re like, “A-block we can't invite you, because you’re all together” I mean I couldn't have 20 couples showing PDA at my party! There were gonna be needy singles there – I mean, right? So then their RT called my RT and started yelling, it was so retarded. Now nobody sees A-block. Only at dinner where they all sit together – totally weird I know. So now I guess they’re all in ‘love’ or something...
