UN POYO ROJO
In an empty locker room, two men play with movement, an analogue radio and tiny shorts. The athletic bodies of Luciano Rosso and Alfonso Barón move fluently from wrestling to dance, acrobatics to physical comedy in an irresistible distortion of the expectations of manhood. A funny, raw, playful hour interspersed with competitiveness and camaraderie as well as seduction and sabotage, that showcases the best of Argentinian contemporary dance.
This crossover between dance, sport and sexuality is a provocation and invitation for us to laugh at ourselves and accept ourselves entirely. While playing with the naive, kitsch, and cliché it remains a striking show of the array of man’s physical and spiritual possibilities.

ABOUT THE TEAM
ALFONSO BARÓN (Argentina, 1984), Interpreter
Actor, dancer, choreographer and director. After practicing extreme and impact sports, he devoted himself to the performing arts, discovering dance through theater. He has been a member of various research groups and dance companies, such as the theater troupe of the National University of Cuyo, the Contemporary Ballet of the San Martín General Theater, the UNA Contemporary Dance Company, the National Contemporary Dance Company, the Combinado Argentino de Danza and the “KM29” group, among others. He has directed numerous plays, dance pieces, performances and films. He also gives courses and seminars on dance, composition and stage and physical performance, notably at ESCA (école supérieure de comédien.ne.s par l’alternance), in France and abroad. He devotes himself to blending the languages of the stage, and tours the world with renowned, award-winning works such as “Un Poyo Rojo” (physical theater), with which he is currently touring America, Europe, Asia and Oceania.
LUCIANO ROSSO (Buenos Aires , 1982, Argentina), Interpreter
Dancer, actor, director and choreographer, trained in classical, contemporary, Afro, jazz and hip-hop dance. He also trained as an actor with Osqui Guzmán, Daniel Casablanca, Hermes Gaido and Paco Redondo, among others. As a musician, he has worked on his voice with Magdalena Fleitas, Alberto Alonso and Tom Viano, and percussion with Gabriel Spiller, Santiago Ablin and Maria Zoppi.
In 2000, he joined the Nandayure company, directed by Analía González, as a dancer, actor and choreographer. In 2001, he joined the renowned percussion group El Choque Urbano, with whom he participated in two shows: Fabricando Sonidos and La Nave. In 2009, he created Urraka, a percussion performance with objects, and the same year he created, together with Hermes Gaido, Alfonso Barón and Nicolás Poggi, the company Un Poyo Rojo with his physical theater show that even today continues to be represented on stages around the world after 15 years.
In 2020, during the first COVID lockdown in France, he created the virtual show APOCALYPSYNC. Together with Maria Saccone, they premiered the play in the theater at the Off Avignon Festival in July 2021. In 2022, his company Un Poyo Rojo premiered its second show, “Dystopia”, in Madrid, with which they toured Europe since then. In 2023, he is preparing his second cycle at the Théâtre du Chêne Noir for the month of July within the framework of the Avignon Off Festival, with his one-man show APOCALIPSYNC.
HERMES GAIDO (Buenos Aires, 1975, Argentina), Directory and Lighting Designer He studied at the prestigious argentinian Municipal School of Dramatic Art, EMAD, to continue acting studies with the teacher Pompeyo Audivert; Clown with Ricky Behrens; Sainete with Cristina Moreira and aerial dance with Brenda Angiel. Between 1989 and 2008, he participated in more than 14 projects including theater, cinema, dance and the Fabricando Sonidos project, which made an important national and international tour that included Brazil; Holland; Korea; Syria; Costa Rica; Nicaragua; Colombia; Guatemala; Panama and Peru. From 2006 to 2009, he worked as a teacher of Experimentation Scenic Movement and Body Percussion at the Cultural Center “Laburatorio” in San Fernando, sponsored by the Municipality of San Fernando. He was a member of the physical theater research group “[despobladores]”, being invited to the 2008 Liverpool Festival, England. In 2009, he directed and interpreted in the URRAKA group, a theater and music company with objects, together with Luciano Rosso, performing in Buenos Aires and various cities and provinces throughout the country, as well as in Brazil and Uruguay. That same year they founded the physical theater company UN POYO ROJO, subsidized by PRODANZA in 2009 and selected by the Alternative Theater Network to tour four cities in Spain in 2010 (Madrid, Valencia, Barcelona and Tenerife), within the framework of the 1st Ibero-American Network Circuit. To later become an international success that is continuously touring Europe and the world. In 2021 he joined the creative team of the play Apocalipsync, by Luciano Rosso, as lighting designer and codirector.In 2022, his company Un Poyo Rojo premiered its second show, “Dystopia”, in Madrid, with which they are touring Europe since then.
