As we finally see the back of January, this month’s edition of The Review Smiths feels like a small but welcome shift in pace. The longest weeks of the year are behind us, and with Valentine’s Day and Pancake Day on the horizon, there’s a renewed sense of comfort, indulgence and small moments to look forward to. This issue is all about products that make everyday life a little more enjoyable. We’re featuring Loop earplugs, designed to bring calm and focus back into busy moments, alongside the KitchenAid blender, a kitchen staple that turns simple ingredients into something special. For those who work or create in louder environments, we’ve also included a range of ISOtunes ear protection, blending safety with sound quality. And for coffee lovers, Wacaco returns with a selection of portable coffee products that prove great coffee doesn’t have to stay at home. As the year begins to find its rhythm, we hope this edition feels like a gentle reset, a reminder that good design and practical ideas are always worth making time for.

KITCheNaId Pure POwer bleNder
We have been fans of KitchenAid for a long time, functionality and beauty are always perfectly blended and speaking of blending the Pure Power Blender is no different. This capable everyday blender handles everything from smoothies to soups without fuss. It has a solid BPA free base with a choice of matte black, satin white or grey and Glossy Empire Red finishes.
Right out of the box you’ll find a sizeable 2 litre BPA‑free jug with clear measurement markings and a comfortable handle, ideal for batching up family‑sized smoothies or soups. The jug’s lid includes a vented section to release steam safely when blending warm ingredients, so you can go straight from pot to blender without worrying about pressure building up.
The variable speed control dial offers ten settings, letting you fine‑tune texture from chunky salsas to smooth purées. There are also dedicated modes for smoothies, ice crushing and cleaning, and the latter is great, just add a drop of soap and water, switch on the cycle and it does most of the work for you, plus most removable parts are dishwasher safe. The 360° asymmetrical blades are designed to pull ingredients down and blend thoroughly, so tough bits, ice and frozen fruit don’t get left behind. The 1200W motor gives enough power for most tasks, including crushing ice to slush for drinks or blending fibrous veg into a silky smooth soup.
It is easy to use with clearly labelled physical buttons and speed dial, no complicated menus or apps to fuss about with. The only thing we could find to pick on was that its solid build means it heavy to pull out of cupboard, but its attractive design means you will probably want to leave it on the counter anyway.
As expected, the KitchenAid Pure Power Blender is a practical and dependable appliance for families or anyone who blends regularly. It won’t overwhelm you with fancy extras, but it delivers the features and power (and good looks) most people need day to day.

FOreO bear 2
The Foreo Bear 2 is not only a cute looking beauty gadget but is the only anti aging device to feature four revolutionary types of microcurrent and Anti Shock System. It has been designed to lift, firm and tone the face and neck for a tighter and more contoured complexion. The Bear 2 comes must be used with a conductive serum which is not included, they recommend their own brand obviously but there are cheaper options on the market if the price puts you off.
It comes in three colours, Lavendar, Evergreen or Fushia, it fits comfortably in the palm of your hand. Up to 680 uA of microcurrent is used to tone and firm the face and neck by stimulating the muscles underneath the skin. There are 69 facial and neck muscles in total, and the idea is that regular use helps improve firmness elasticity and overall definition.
One of the main features of the Bear 2 is its range of microcurrent intensities and massage patterns. It offers four different microcurrent types Advanced Microcurrent, Lifting Microcurrent, Tapping Microcurrent and Sculpting Microcurrent. There are also five T Sonic massage modes which help boost circulation and support lymphatic drainage. In real terms this means skin looks a bit fresher and less puffy after use especially in the morning. The device also has an Anti Shock System 2.0 which adjusts your microcurrent treatment to perfectly suit your skin in real time, ensure treatments feel smooth and comfortable rather than sharp or unpleasant. Using it is straightforward and quick, there are three video guided treatments to target different areas of the face and neck, on FOREO app. A full routine takes only a few minutes and the device glides easily over the face when paired with a conductive serum. The shape fits nicely along the jawline cheeks and neck, and it feels sturdy but lightweight in the hand. It is also waterproof which makes it easy to clean and store in the bathroom. As a selfcare act it feels soothing and invigorating at the same time.
In terms of results, there may be a subtle lift around my cheeks and a bit more definition along my jaw with consistent use however I think we need to use it for longer before we can really judge the results. The Bear 2 is definitely an investment but if you are into non invasive skincare tools and are willing to stick to a routine it feels like a solid well designed piece of beauty tech that actually earns its place on the shelf.
GOOlOO GT6000
My car doesn’t get used all that often which means I have had a few occasions when I go to use it only to find the battery has died. So, having a reliable jump starter in the car became a must. The Gooloo GT6000 is a high capacity portable jump starter that’s designed to cover a wide range of vehicles and double up as a handy power bank for everyday tech.
The GT6000 delivers 6000 A of peak current, which is enough to start most 12 V petrol and larger diesel engines, from family saloons to bigger SUVs, vans, or even light commercial vehicles. Gooloo claims on a full charge you can get 70+ jump starts, which sounds impressive but in reality, one or two is all you need in a crisis.
The unit also functions as a 27,000 mAh power bank with versatile outputs. There’s a 100 W USB C port with Power Delivery, which can fast charge laptops and modern devices, alongside USB A ports for phones, tablets and accessories.
A 15 V/10 A DC output adds flexibility for powering things like inflators or inverters.
Gooloo hasn’t overlooked safety, the jump starter includes a 10 layer protection system with safeguards against reverse polarity, over current, short circuits and overheating, making it easier to use without worrying about damage to the car or yourself.
Practical touches include a 3.2 inch SmartView display showing battery level, output and temperature readings, which helps you monitor the status of the battery at a glance. A built in 400 lumen LED light with steady, SOS and strobe modes is handy for roadside emergencies or working under the bonnet in the dark.
The unit’s IP65 rating means it’s dust and splash resistant, important if you’re storing it in a car boot or using it outdoors. Recharging is relatively quick too, with fast charging bringing the internal battery back up in about 1.4 hours. Overall, the GT6000 is a capable and multi purpose device. It’s especially suited to owners who want more than just a jump starter, the combination of strong jump power, device charging and emergency lighting makes it a useful part of a car emergency kit.

ePOMaKer Th108 PrO
The EPOMAKER TH108 PRO is a full size mechanical keyboard that aims to cover both everyday typing and gaming needs with a broad set of modern features. It’s a substantial board with a robust feel and plenty of connectivity options, so it works well whether you’re at a desk or switching between devices. At first look the colour scheme is a little mismatch but we found we fell in love with the pastel chaos.
Back to the things that really matter, the tri mode connectivity allows you to use wired via USB C, wirelessly with a 2.4 GHz dongle, or connect over Bluetooth, which makes it easy to jump between a desktop, laptop or tablet without unplugging anything. It also supports multi device pairing, so switching between up to five devices is smooth.
The power comes from a 10,000 mAh rechargeable battery with long life between charges, which is ideal if you prefer keyboard freedom without being tethered to a cable. The keyboard also includes a smart TFT display and multifunction knob. The screen can show useful info like time and battery level, and you can control volume or RGB backlight settings via the knob without digging through menus.
Typing on the TH108 PRO feels comfortable thanks to its gasket mount structure and factory lubed switches, which give a softer, cushioned feel under the fingers and help dampen noise. It sounds like soft rain drops on the window; it’s a lovely experience. The hot swappable PCB lets you swap out switches without soldering, so you can tailor the feel to your needs. Double shot PBT keycaps are durable and resist wear over time.
RGB backlighting with south facing LEDs brightens up the setup and offers plenty of visual customisation. There’s also an adjustable kickstand with multiple typing angles for ergonomic comfort.
It’s a solid choice if you want a super versatile, full sized mechanical keyboard that handles both work and play with ease. It certainly packs a lot into its price bracket, though some may find software customisation a bit basic and the plastic heavy build a little flexible compared with more premium boards.

The Navitel RS985 GPS is a dual‑camera dashcam that aims to give you a clear picture of your journeys and added peace of mind on the road. It records the view in front of your vehicle in 4K resolution with a wide 160° field of view via the Sony STARVIS sensor, while the included rear camera captures Full HD footage with a 120° angle. That combination makes it easier to catch important details from both directions, whether you are driving in town or on motorways.
The built‑in Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) can warn you about lane departures, potential collisions and changes in traffic flow, helping you stay alert to hazards. There is also a GPS sensor that alerts you to speed cameras, bus lanes and other restrictions, and a digital speedometer to show your speed on the dashcam screen. The footage is recorded in a continuous with loop, and a G‑sensor automatically protects footage if it detects a sudden impact or sharp turn. There is a parking mode that can capture activity around your car when it is parked, though this works best when the dashcam is connected to a constant power source.
You can control settings either with the buttons on the unit or through the Navitel DVR Centre app over Wi‑Fi, which also lets you share videos to your phone without removing the memory card. A clear 3″ IPS screen makes navigation simple and the support for cards up to 512 GB means you can store many hours of footage. If you want a compact dashcam with high‑resolution front and rear recording plus driver alerts, the RS985 GPS covers lots of bases without being complicated to use.
TOzO hT3
The TOZO HT3 wireless over ear headphones pack a lot into an affordable package, they also come in seven soft pastel colours. They feel light and comfortable on the head thanks to soft leather ear pads and an adjustable headband that doesn’t press too hard, even during longer listening sessions.
Sound quality was a pleasant surprise, the large 40 mm dynamic drivers with TOZO’s SDLC driver technology and Hi Res Audio tuning, help deliver clear highs, detailed mids and a strong bass to suit a wide range of music. Spatial audio support adds a sense of space around tracks, which can make films or gaming more immersive than basic stereo alone.
They offer adaptive noise cancellation that adjusts to your surroundings and can reduce a lot of background noise, there is also a transparency mode if you want to hear the world around you without taking the headphones off. The battery life is nice and healthy with up to around 90 hours of playtime with ANC off and around 55 hours with it on, so you can easily get through a week of use between charges. The USB C charging is straightforward, and you can even plug in a 3.5 mm cable if you want wired listening in a pinch.
Connectivity is up to date with Bluetooth 6.0 for a stable link and low power use, and you can pair to two devices at once, which is handy if you switch between phone and laptop during the day. There are also app features for EQ customisation and ANC modes.
Overall, the HT3 deliver a well rounded experience with strong battery life, effective noise control and sound quality that punches well above what you might expect at this price. They are versatile enough for daily use, travel and watching films, and you won’t empty your bank account to buy them.

This time of year, it can be really tricky to get your clothes dry after washing, and damp clothing hanging around your home can quickly lead to a damp house. The TCP Smart 20L Dehumidifier is a solid choice if you want to tackle damp, condensation and musty air in medium to large rooms without too much fuss. It can remove up to 20 litres of moisture a day, which is useful for spaces like kitchens, living rooms, utility areas or basements where moisture can build up and cause problems like mould and odours. It features smart connectivity which allows you to control the unit via the TCP Smart app on your phone wherever you are, and it also works with voice assistants such as Alexa and Google Home, so you don’t even have to move from your chair if you don’t feel like it. You can set target humidity levels, timers or schedules becomes with this remote control, and the digital display keeps you informed of progress. The dehumidifier has a reasonably large
4.3–4.5 litre water tank with a transparent indicator so you can see when it needs emptying, and an auto shut off feature stops the machine when the tank is full. If you want continuous operation without pausing to empty the tank, there is also an option to connect a drainage hose. Daily use is straightforward thanks to two fan speeds, an adjustable humidistat and a built in timer. It runs fairly quietly for its size, so it won’t be too intrusive in living areas. It also has an auto defrost and auto restart features that add reliability, especially if the power cuts out or the temperature drops.
It’s worth noting the smart control can take a bit of time to set up and the unit is not the quietest on the highest setting, however the TCP Smart 20L does balance performance and convenience well. For anyone looking to reduce indoor humidity, prevent damp or speed up laundry drying inside, it provides capable day to day humidity control without breaking the bank.

Our office gets really cold in the winter, to the point where woolly hats remain on all day. If you have to deal with similar environments and need a way to heat a room without digging into central heating, the TCP Smart Glass Panel Heater is worth a look. It’s a smooth, black 2000 W panel can blend into contemporary living spaces nicely (or tatty offices) and can either be used as a freestanding heater or a wall mounted unit, with all the fixings included. The smart control options let you hook it up to your Wi Fi and manage it from the TCP Smart app on your phone, meaning you can turn it up or down without getting out of your chair, always a plus. If you’re an Alexa or Google Assistant user, voice control works too, which is surprisingly handy on cold mornings if you are walking in with an arm full of products to review. The panel itself also has an LED display and touch controls, so you’ve got physical options if your phone isn’t handy. It’s also quite clever with scheduling and energy
management. You can programme weekly timers so it only heats when you need it, and there’s even open window detection to cut the power if a sudden chill hits. That’s a nice touch if you’re trying to be careful with bills or have work mates you seem to have the internal body temperature of the Sahara.
The safety features include overheat protection, a child lock, and splash proof IP24 rating mean it’s fine for bathrooms or kitchens as well as bedrooms or living rooms. Despite the 2000 W output providing solid warmth for spaces up to about 20 m², it runs quietly, no noisy fan rattling away in the background.
On the downside, you’re still paying standard electric rates for heat, so it isn’t exactly cheap to run at full tilt all evening. But for targeted, controllable warmth with a smart twist, this TCP panel hits the mark for most everyday rooms.
VTOMaN FlashsPeed1000 aNd 200w PrO
POrTable sOlar PaNel
Countryside living means countryside infrastructure and therefore a squirrel’s sneeze can result in a power cut. The Vtoman FlashSpeed 1000 Portable Power Station could be a handy back up plan as a solid all in one energy solution. It sits in the mid range category of portable power stations and packs a good mix of capacity, output and flexibility without being overly complicated.
At its heart the FlashSpeed 1000 has an 828 Wh lithium iron phosphate battery, which offers a cycle life of over 3000 charges with around 80 per cent capacity retained, meaning it should last for years with regular use. It delivers a 1000 W continuous output with a peak of up to 2000 W, so it can run multiple everyday devices like laptops, kitchen appliances, small tools or lights during a power cut or while camping.
The unit supports fast AC charging from zero to 100 per cent in about 70 minutes, which is faster than many rivals in this class. You can also recharge via solar panels (more on that in a bit) or through a car charger, which adds flexibility if you are off grid or on a long trip.
There is a wide range of output ports including multiple AC sockets, USB A, USB C (with up to 100 W output), DC ports and even a car style output, so, you can power several devices at once, from phones and tablets to fridges or power tools. A small front display makes it simple to check remaining power and how much you are using at a glance. The UPS mode will keeps critical equipment running without interruption if your mains power fails, really useful if you have medical appliances or other important devices. The unit also doubles as a jump starter for vehicles with a compatible cable, for another useful emergency feature.
On the downside some users note that, like many battery power stations, it can be bulky and heavy to move around regularly, yes, it is portable, but you won’t want to be lugging it too far to the campsite.
Along with the FlashSpeed we received the 200W Pro Portable Solar Panel as a mains free power supply. It uses monocrystalline solar cells with up to about 25 per cent conversion efficiency, which helps turn sunlight into usable electricity effectively even when conditions are less than perfect.
This panel is designed to fold up neatly for portability and relatively easy to carry, it comes with built in kickstands so you can angle it towards the sun for better output.
You get a universal MC4 connector and a three in one adapter for compatibility with many power stations, and it is water resistant with an IP67 rating, so it can handle light rain or splashes. The panel feels sturdy and well built, and folding it up for transport is straightforward. As with all solar panels, the actual output will vary with the angle of the sun and weather, but this model generally delivers solid performance for charging power stations or 12 V batteries while you are off grid.
The combination of the FlashSpeed 1000 and Solar Panel is a practical and versatile portable power supply that is a capable and versatile. It is comforting to always have a backup supply when the mains is unreliable plus it’s handy for campers or anywhere outdoor energy is needed.

ThINK TaNK FOCusPOINT 30l rOllTOP
The Think Tank FocusPoint 30L RollTop is a versatile backpack that works well as both a dedicated camera bag and a day pack for travel or commuting. It strikes a good balance between organisation and carry comfort, and suits anyone who wants quick access to gear without fuss. It comes in four attractive designs, Asphalt Black, Greenway, Golden Hour and Urban Rust.
The roll top design has a parachute style quick release buckle means you can adjust the capacity depending on what you are carrying, which is handy when you need extra room for jackets or personal items. Inside there is a padded camera insert that can be removed entirely, so the bag can transition smoothly from camera pack to everyday use. You can access your gear from both the rear panel and side openings, so retrieving is possible without having to set the bag down first. The insert will comfortably fit a full frame body with two zoom lenses or several prime lenses, and there are ten pockets both inside and out to keep accessories, batteries and personal items sorted.
Tech gear is well catered for, there is a padded laptop sleeve that fits up to 16 inch devices and additional zipped compartments for tablets, cables and smaller bits. Back on the outside there are side pockets that expand for a tripod or water bottle, a dedicated quick access phone pocket, and a hidden pocket for a tracker like an AirTag.
Comfort has been considered in the design, thanks to the breathable mesh and cushioned foam on the back panel with air channels help keep you cool on longer treks, and adjustable straps and a removable waist stabiliser strap make it easier to carry heavier loads without strain. Be warned however on warmer days and continuous wear you might still end up with some sweat patches.
The bag has been thoughtfully constructed from sustainable, bluesign certified and PFAS free materials. There is a seam sealed rain cover included, for extra protection from the elements.
The FocusPoint RollTop will easily become one of your go to bags for all occasions. It is protective and considerate with your camera gear but can then be switched out day trips, work or the gym. It isn’t a cheap investment but with plenty of organisation and comfort features packed into a practical design it is worth every penny.

waCaCO PIxaPressO
We have been fans of Wacaco ever since we learnt we could have decent coffee halfway up a mountain with zero interaction with other humans, bliss, now we have had a chance to look at the Picopresso, Wacacos smallest and most compact portable espresso machine. This dinky little device is just 4.15 inches and weighs only 0.77lb, the perfect travel companion, it comes with the Picopresso, double filter basket, tamper, scoop, brush, distribution tool, funnel, protective case, multi languages instruction book, warranty card, and a Wacaco sticker because why the hell not. It features a naked portafilter, to produce delicious creamy espresso that flows directly from a standard 52mm 18 grams stainless steel filter basket. The water tank has an 80ml capacity that’s enough for a double shot. Now this isn’t a coffee machine for those lazy brewers, this can take a little time to master but it will be so worth it in the end. Saying that, it isn’t complicated to use, just a matter of perfecting your grind, tamping, and pulling technique, once you have that down it becomes very easy, pop in your coffee, release to press handle and pump for up to 18 bar/261 psi pressure. You don’t have to worry about damaging it on your travels this thing is robust, made from metal and durable plastic it can withstand some impact and will last for years to come. When it comes to cleaning it’s worth enjoying your coffee first and allowing the metal components to cool down before getting your hands on the interior parts. For the coffee aficionados out there preparing the perfect brew is more of a science than simply throwing some granules in a cup. This compact set of digital coffee scales designed to give you precision in your brewing, whether at home or on the move. It is small enough to slip into a bag, it feels sturdy and well made, with a grippy surface that helps keep cups and brewers stable during use. The scales measure from 0.1 grams up to 2 kilograms, which makes them suitable for everything from weighing coffee beans to monitoring water flow during pour over brewing. The built in timer is handy and easy to use, allowing you to track extraction time without juggling extra equipment. The display is clear and easy to read, even in low light, which is useful for early mornings or travel setups.
The Exagram Pro is USB C rechargeable and offers 15 hours battery life (with an auto off feature to save energy), it also has a water resistant and heat proof design, which gives peace of mind when dealing with splashes or steam around hot brews. The Smart Weight Memory allows you to record your weight, so you get it right every time. It also includes a unique pour over program and a step by step recipe inspired by a world champion barista, making it feel like having a coffee guru by your side.
We also managed to get our caffeinated hands on the Wacaco Exaflow whilch is a clever upgrade for anyone who already uses a compatible insulated cup and wants more control when pouring coffee. Rather than being a brewer itself, it replaces the standard lid with a push button flow system that lets you switch between a fast pour and a slower more precise stream. This is especially useful for simple pour over brewing or serving without spills. The lid also improves heat retention and seals well, making it suitable for travel. An integrated carry handle and leak resistant design add everyday use, making it a small but thoughtful improvement for coffee on the go.

deVOlO wIFI 6 rOuTer 3600
With so much of our lives reliant on the internet, it is essential we have a reliable connection that isn’t patchy. The Devolo WiFi 6 Router 3600 5G LTE ensures you get the best signal. It is essentially a mobile 5G and Wi Fi 6 router that turns a nano SIM from your mobile provider into a fast, stable home or office network with no phone line or fibre required. You just plug it in, insert the SIM and you’re online.
You get dual band Wi Fi 6, which can deliver theoretical speeds up to 3,600 Mbps across the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. That’s plenty for modern usage like UHD streaming, online gaming or multiple video calls at the same time, provided your mobile signal supports it. The router also uses 4×4 MIMO on downloads and 2×2 MIMO on uploads to make better use of the mobile network capacity.
The tri mode connectivity, aside from mobile 3G/4G/5G, offers you the ability of using it as a conventional router by plugging in a fixed broadband line via the 2.5 Gbps WAN/LAN port. There’s an extra 1 Gbps LAN port too for wired devices, and a USB C port for management or network access. The inclusion of a FXS telephone port means you can even hook up an analogue handset for VoIP services if your plan supports it.
Setting up and managing the network is straightforward with the Devolo Home Network app or the web interface, and WPA3 encryption keeps things secure. The router is said to support over 100 simultaneous connections, so it’s fine for homes with lots of devices or small office setups.
On the downside, the number of wired ports is quite limited compared with some rivals, and like all mobile routers, real world speeds depend heavily on the strength and quality of the 5G/4G signal in your area. But if you’re after a robust all in one solution for areas without broadband or as a backup for outages, it’s a solid pick.

The main problem with wearing hearing protectors in a loud environment is that they are usually large and bulky on your head and when moving around can be rather inconvenient, especially if moving around in a tight environment where the tendency is to knock them loose or restrict your head movement, not to mention they can sometimes be a little too good at blocking out noise, leaving you unable to detect essential sounds and possibly compromising your safety as a result. Isotunes latest offering does away with these problems as these Bluetooth enabled bad boys are in ear! No more big, bulky headsets for you, time for a more streamlined hearing protector. The sound that gets through to your ears is capped at 82dB’s max but you can adjust the amplification level to suit your needs meaning you’re still able to hear everything around you, just at a lower volume. In this respect it works in a similar way to a hearing aid, transferring outside noises to your ear at a volume that works for you and, with a transference speed of just 2 milliseconds, there is no noticeable lag. As well as this, if the noise level reaches 85dB’s or higher, the protectors just block it out, ensuring your hearing safety. The battery life is good at about 10 hours and the charging case is good for 2 full charges before it needs recharging itself and you get 6 ear bud tips included in the box. Fairly standard stuff but you also get a removable boom mic that stores neatly in the charging case so you can ensure your voice is clearly heard when making calls. It does reduce the IP rating to 56 from 67 when in use but this should hardly be a problem for the short period of time you’re likely to be using it.

These kits from Metalkitor (love that name) are just so sick, they look so good. The 3D Metal Mechanical Mantis is no different, it’s a fun and engaging build kit that blends puzzle solving with hands on construction. If you enjoy models with moving parts and like taking your time over a project, this little mantis fits the bill. It arrives as a set of laser cut metal sheets with all the pieces held in place ready to pop out, and the experience feels more satisfying than a simple plastic snap together kit.
Assembly is straightforward but thoughtful, it allows you to get into a mindful flow without it being too taxing on your skills. You follow numbered steps to bend and slot parts together, and there is no need for glue or special tools beyond the ones included. As you work through it you begin to appreciate how the design allows the body, legs and head to articulate in a way that mimics a real mantis stance. When it is complete the model stands on its own with a poised look that makes it nice to display on a shelf or desk.
The Mantis has a series of gears and linkages built into its frame so that when you turn a wheel or lever the legs and head move in coordination. It is simple enough that you can see how each piece contributes to the movement, it’s fun to give it a little fiddle and change the position. The metal construction gives it a solid and tactile feel that is a step up from cardboard or plastic kits, and the shine of the stainless finish catches the light attractively. However, the daylight alone isn’t what makes this deadly insect shine, the integrated magnetic induction light add another level charm and can be controlled through magnets.
This is not a quick activity you power through in an hour. It asks for patience and a bit of concentration, and the instructions sometimes take a moment to interpret, but that is part of the appeal for anyone who likes a slower paced project. Once built it provides a quirky talking point and a sense of achievement. If you enjoy mechanical models or want a hands on challenge that results in a neat collectible figure, the Metalkitor Mantis is worth considering.
reOlINK TraCKMIx POe
After a recent spate of break ins in our local area, we were looking to upgrade out home security and as if by magic the Reolink TrackMix PoE landed on our desk. This outdoor PoE (Power over Ethernet) camera combines strong image quality with smart tracking features and flexible recording, making it a capable all round choice for monitoring driveways, gardens or entry points.
The dual lens system gives you both a wide angle view and a zoomed in perspective at the same time. The wide angle lens covers broad areas, while the telephoto lens offers up to 6× hybrid zoom, so you can catch fine details without sacrificing overall coverage. The camera records in 4K Ultra HD (8 MP), which keeps footage sharp and helps with identifying faces or number plates, both day and night.
The built in spotlights and infrared LEDs, ensure the image at night is as solid as it is in the daytime. The smart detection algorithms can tell the difference between people, vehicles and animals, letting you reduce unwanted alerts. Two way audio means you can listen and speak through the camera whether you’re at home or away, I particularly enjoy freaking out my parents before they get a chance to ring the doorbell.
Installation is straightforward but be warned there are wires involved. However, thanks to PoE, a single Ethernet cable carries both power and data, so there’s less wiring to worry about. The unit is weatherproof, rated for outdoor use in a range of conditions. You can set it to record continuously, on a schedule or only when motion is detected, and store footage locally on a microSD card or to a compatible NVR or Reolink hub via the app.
The camera’s auto tracking tries to follow moving objects, keeping them centred in the frame which can be useful in busy areas. That said, it isn’t always consistent or sensitive to setup, the software quirks around zones and presets also be frustrating.
Overall, the TrackMix PoE delivers a lot of capability for the price, with clear imaging, smart alerts and solid outdoor durability, though you may need patience fine tuning settings to get the best performance. I feel better already having it keeping an eye on our property we are unable to.

I’ve always been a light sleeper but since having my children it’s definitely become worse, any nice has me bolt upright even though both children have slept through the night for over a year. I’m already an owner of two sets of Loop earplugs and Dream completes my collection. The Dreams have been designed specifically for sleep and aim to provide comfort and effective noise reduction throughout the night.
The earplugs have been tailored for side sleepers and feature a super low profile that sits flush against the ear, minimizing discomfort when your head is on the pillow. They come with four different sizes of oval shaped ear tips made from a hybrid of memory foam and silicone, ensuring a snug fit that conforms to the natural shape of your ear canal. This combination not only ensures a precise seal but also reduces pressure, making them suitable for extended wear overnight.
With a noise reduction rating of 27 decibels (SNR), the Loop Dream earplugs effectively muffle common disturbances such as snoring, traffic, and other ambient sounds. While they don't block out noise entirely, they significantly diminish it, allowing for a more restful sleep without completely isolating you from important alerts like alarms or baby monitors.
These earplugs are reusable and built to last, offering up to 100 nights of use per set of ear tips. They come with a compact, non slip carrying case, making them convenient for both home use and travel.
Priced at approximately £45, the Loop Dream earplugs are an investment compared to disposable alternatives. However, their durability and comfort may justify the cost for those seeking a long term solution.
The Loop Dream earplugs offer a blend of comfort and effective noise reduction, without completely blocking out your environment. Their design caters especially to side sleepers, and the quality materials used ensure durability. While they come at a higher price point, the potential improvement in sleep quality may make them a valuable addition to your nighttime routine, as I am already a Loop convert, it was a no brainer for me.

What better way to start off the new year than to protect yourself from sensory overload and engage your focus skills without distraction. When you want to take the edge off everyday noise without losing the ability to hear what’s going on around you, these earplugs could be just what you need. The Loop Engage 2 Sublime are designed to filter background sound while keeping speech clear, making them good for social settings like cafes, family meals, work meetings or busy public spaces.
The core technology centres on an acoustic filter that reduces noise by about 16 dB, enough to soften distracting sounds while still letting conversations come through naturally. That balance is the point of the Engage 2 Sublime, you are not blocking everything, just lowering the volume of the background noise so you can stay present without being overwhelmed.
The Sublime collection comes in three attractive colours Golden Hour, Denim Dream and Sugar Plum. It also comes with four sizes of silicone tips so you can find what suits your ears best, and the redesigned fit aims to feel secure even during longer periods of wear. The ring shape makes them easy to insert and adjust so they sit discreetly and are barely visible.
They are reusable and straightforward to clean, and the keychain carry case means you can pop them in your bag or on your keys so they are always to hand. If you spend a lot of time in busy environments, parenting noisy kids or juggling work in open plan spaces, this combination of gentler noise relief and clear speech can be calming rather than isolating. We appreciated the comfort and ease of use, though be prepared that your own voice can sound louder when wearing them which might takes a short adjustment period. For those who want a simple way to reduce background noise while staying engaged with the world, these earplugs do a good job without fuss. COMFOrTable reusable ear PluG s T haT sOFT eN eV eryday

So, we have had over ear, in ear, on ear headphones and now we have ear clips. Rather than sealing the ear canal like traditional buds, these use a clip on, open ear design that sits around your ear. This allows you to hear what is happening around you while listening to music or podcasts making them well suited for busy commutes, outdoor exercise and remaining aware of your environment.
These earbuds are super light at just about 5g whilst the N Flex Arch memory wire gently conforms to the shape of your ear, so they stay in place even if you are moving around a lot. They are also compatible with glasses, helmets or masks without feeling bulky.
Sound quality is good this type of open format, it hasn’t been designed to compete with more immersive headphones but allows you to hear the detail in your audio AND your environment. The Clip1 use 12 mm dual magnet drivers and support LDAC and Dolby Audio, which helps deliver a fuller sound across different genres. Together with SoundPEATS’ DynamicEQ Pro technology there is a reasonable balance however as might be expected the bass is quite reserved. You can personalise the sound via the PeatsAudio app, choosing EQ settings and switching between different audio modes.
Battery life is respectable, offering around 8 hours of playtime on a single charge and up to roughly 40 hours with the charging case. A quick 10 minute charge can add a couple of hours of playback, which is handy if you forget to top them up before heading out.
Smart features include AutoSense detection that automatically adjusts left and right channels based on which ear they are clipped to, and wear detection that pauses playback when you take them off. The IPX5 water resistance rating gives peace of mind in light rain or sweaty workouts too.
They do have a few limits common to open earbuds. There is no active noise cancellation, so in loud settings the sound can feel thin, and you may need to raise volume more than you would with sealed buds. Also, the charging case is slightly larger than some rivals. The fit maybe a deal breaker for some, my ears are on the smaller side, and they became uncomfortable after an hour. I did enjoy the open ear experience without the neckband and they were comfortable enough for a jog around the countryside. The touch controls are a little temperamental which can be frustrating but is easy to avoid by using your phone to control the volume.
Overall, the Clip1 offer a safe and versatile listening experience, ideal for everyday wear and outdoor use, with plenty of features not usually found at this price, although the fit might not be suitable for every earshape.
