This exhibit booth was inspired by the song Kanlungan by Noel Cabangon.
Kundiman, opera, tribal, zarzuela, novelty, Pinoy pop – the Philippines has a rich musical history showcasing various genres and styles. This is the highlight of “OPM: Obra Para sa Musika” the graduation exhibit of the Philippine School of Interior Design (PSID) Advanced Class of 2013.Marking the 46th anniversary of PSID, and co-presented by Glorietta mall, Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mangaawit (OPM), and the Filipino Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (FILSCAP), this year’s exhibit aims to marry the interrelated fields of design and music by translating popular Filipino songs into aesthetically and functionally designed interior spaces.

with the man who composed and sang the song, Mr. Noel Cabangon
The song Kanlungan talks of a place that holds the memories of a love and a woman. It talks of a place that can be considered the focus of their love where the various trees and flowers around the area hold a sense of importance before the man and woman. In reference to the meaning of the word itself, which roughly means: A place to rest, the song asks the question if the place in its own, with the beauty of its memories, are enough to spark a love that was lost in the past. This song speaks about a love that was had, lost and remembered. It speaks of longing, invokes nostalgia, and recognizes regret. This design attempts to capture memories and treasures that the couple may have shared in the time they spent together.
