Hello everyone and welcome to our first issue of the Real Magazine June 2024. We are excited for you to see the photos and articles we have created and developed over the 2023-2024 school year. Being the first fashion magazine at Bothell High School was not an easy task. From the first meeting to our final meeting before release, We have persevered and created a product we are thrilled to share. We hope you enjoy it and stay tuned for future releases.

How 90's music inspired fashion by: Jazmine Cole Many cool styles come and go, but some, like biker shorts and overalls, keep reappearing. Recent years saw biker shorts in everyday wear, just like the 80s and 90s.

Overalls, popularized by Rosie the Riveter in the 60s, are back with teens. Baggy clothes, rocked by TLC and Destiny's Child, are a big deal again, with teens and adults sporting them: fashion trends cycle, each generation leaving its mark while reviving past styles. The future holds more comebacks, keeping fashion exciting!

Jhene Aiko's impact on music by: Alaiya Onesy Mental health issues and an unplanned pregnancy almost derailed Jhene Aiko's music career. Her brother's death plunged her deeper into depression, but motherhood and self-discovery offered a path to healing. Through albums like "Souled Out," she explored her struggles and growth. Years later, she shared on Instagram the importance of inner peace and spirituality in overcoming life's challenges.

My favorite style is definitely baggy pants with tight tops. I love to wear baggy jeans or sweatpants with a tank top and a baggy sweater. I think it suits me very well

What are your least favorite fashion styles and themes?

I am not the biggest fan of the “preppy” style. I don’t like normal leggings because I don’t like how they feel on my skin. I also don’t like jeans from Zara as they are very high waisted and it’s just not my style

Where do you find inspiration?

I get inspiration from my friends or on social media. If I see something my friend is wearing and I like the style, I’ll ask them where they got their clothes from. I also get inspiration from social media platforms such as Tiktok, Instagram, and Pinterest. I like to buy clothes from Hollister, Garage, H&M, Old Navy, and the website called Edikted. I think they have very cute clothes and I love to shop there!

Who’s your favorite Music Artist? Why?

I would have to choose Drake because he has a huge variety of different music styles within hip hop/r&b/rap: unique within the rap industry

How does their fashion sense help yours develop over time?

My fashion has been impacted since he wears more baggy/dark tones - I wear more cool tones and outfits with hoodies, cargo, etc. it’s developed from being more basic like wearing a hoodie and leggings to more authenticity through jewelry, shoes, etc.

This powerful music became a soundtrack for the Civil Rights Movement, uniting communities through backyard cookouts filled with soulful melodies and anthems demanding change. Even today, the legacy of soul music lives on, inspiring new generations of Black artists like Alicia Keys and John Legend. These contemporary artists carry the torch, keeping the spirit of soul alive with modern productions infused with the genre's signature rhythms and raw emotions. Soul music remains a powerful force, reminding everyone of its enduring power to unite, uplift, and inspire.
