16th Annual PumpkinFest One of the most anticipated fall festivals in Franklin is PumpkinFest and 2012 will make its 16th year with hopefully many more to follow! It is one of the bigger festivals that Franklin produces each year and is fun for the entire family. Be sure to take in all the entertainment downtown , October 19th and 20th. There will be food, games, vendors, live music, costumes and the famous Pumpkin Roll. It’s B.Y.O.P. (Bring Your Own Pumpkin) or you may buy one at the festival. Franklin this Fall

With cooler air blowing through the Autumn leaves, this is the time of year to get out and about in the Franklin area! With so much going on, it is one of our favorite times of year. From football and festivals, to hiking and leaf peeping, there is something for everyone to enjoy! In the next two pages, we want to highlight a few of the unique happenings taking place this Fall in downtown Franklin, NC.

Downtown Franklin is on the rise. With new shops added over the past few years, and new renovations happening as we write this article, we expect to see bigger and better things happening in Franklinâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s downtown. Apart from the shops, the downtown area plays host to several of Franklinâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s festivals like the Appalachian Trail Days in the spring, the Franklin Folk Festival in the summer, PumpkinFest in the fall and Winter Wonderland in the winter. No matter the season, there is something for both visitors and locals to attend and enjoy. But there is a new happening that has been introduced to downtown as of late. StreetFest! StreetFest has been


described as a ‘Friday night block party’ by some and a festival by others. It doesn’t really matter what you call it, StreetFest is changing the culture of Franklin’s downtown on Friday nights. The local movement, ‘Venture Local Franklin’ and the non-profit organization ‘Streets of Franklin’ (Downtown Merchants) have teamed up to produce this fun and exciting new event that has been bringing anywhere from 600 to 900 visitors and locals to the downtown area, for a three hour period, over the past few months. The focus of StreetFest is to promote the shop local movement while showing our visitors and local folks that downtown Franklin is a happening place that they can come out and enjoy in the evenings. The visitors can go home and share this with their friends and family, and the locals can invite friends and family out to the next one. What can you expect at StreetFest? Expect to have fun! At the last StreetFest in August, there were four bands playing on two stages, food being sold on the streets and inside of shops, a kids zone with arts and crafts and most importantly, folks were socializing, shopping and having a good time! If you haven’t made it out to one yet, we highly recommend coming to check it out and to have a good time with the rest of Franklin! If you have already experienced it, keep coming back! We have feeling that these two motivated groups have something very cool planned for the next StreetFest and beyond.
