Welcome to the 2025 Rashi Annual Dinner, celebrating the close of the RISE Campaign!
Tonight we gather in a new venue to mark the successful completion of Rashi’s very first campaign to establish a significant endowment for Rashi’s future. For the past three years we have been overwhelmed by the unwavering support this community has demonstrated through their time and generosity. Together, we have built the scaffolding that will allow Rashi to Reach even more students, Innovate to drive academic excellence and support our exceptional faculty, Sustain our vibrant Jewish community, and Envision a strong, financially secure future.
Thank you for helping us celebrate Rashi: a school that fosters excellence in academics, grows responsible global Jewish citizens, nurtures curious learners, and develops leaders that live our timeless values. At its core, Rashi is a lifelong community for your family and serves as an engine of Jewish leadership in Boston and the world.
As always, we recognize and appreciate our dedicated Rashi faculty and staff who enable our students’ success and inspire them to be their very best.
We proudly celebrate this year’s recipient of The Stephanie Rotsky Tikkun Alum Award, Maxwell Long ’11. Max is an IDF reservist and Co-Founder/ Executive Director of Growing Wings, which ensures that Lone Soldiers in the IDF have access to essential support during and after their service. In 2024, Max was also recognized as one of JUF’s 36 Under 36, highlighting his dedication to advocacy and community leadership, and underscoring his mission to ensure the safety and future of the Jewish people worldwide.
We are also humbled and honored to welcome Omer Shem Tov and his parents to our community. Omer, 23, was kidnapped from the Nova music festival on October 7, 2023 and held hostage in Gaza for 505 days, spending 450 of those days alone in the underground tunnels. We share Omer’s Jewish pride and are grateful that he brings us his message of hope and healing.
We are grateful to have you as part of our kehillah (community), and for your generous support of The Rashi School.
Emily Charton
David Grossman Head of School President, Board of Trustees
Dear Friends,
It’s a privilege to congratulate the students, staff, and families of The Rashi School on another remarkable year of Jewish learning, community, and academic excellence.
We’re so inspired by the successful completion of Rashi’s comprehensive $30M RISE Campaign. For the past three years, Cindy and Andrew Janower P’12, P’15, P’18, and Jessica and Chuck Myers P’20, P’21, P’24, along with your Campaign Cabinet and community of Rashi Champions, have worked tirelessly to engage leaders across Rashi and the greater Jewish community.
The RISE Campaign ensures Rashi can reach more students, create meaningful learning opportunities, and build a strong, vibrant future for years to come. This investment ensures that Rashi continues to meet each moment with compassion, resilience, and vision — celebrating Jewish life and ensuring every student is seen and supported from pre-K through eighth grade.
It’s no surprise that Cindy and AJ Janower and Jessica and Chuck Myers were the RISE Campaign Co-chairs, as they have been vital partners to CJP for over two decades, enriching our work and strengthening our community. They exemplify leadership, generosity, and a deep commitment to sustaining our Jewish future. We’re so grateful for their partnership and all that they do for the community and beyond.
We would also like to recognize and celebrate Maxwell Long, this year’s Stephanie Rotsky Tikkun Alum Award recipient, for leading bold, valuesdriven advocacy for Israel and the Jewish People.
Mazel tov to our honorees and to the entire Rashi community. May you go from strength to strength!
Sincerely,

Max Long is the founder of Growing Wings, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing affordable housing, mental health services, and a supportive community for Lone Soldiers serving in the Israel Defense Forces. His dedication to social justice and advocacy was shaped by the values instilled in him at Rashi, where he developed a deep connection to Israel and an understanding of the importance of standing up for truth and justice.
After graduating from Rashi, Max moved to Israel and enlisted in the IDF, where he served in a special forces unit and participated in countless missions to protect Israel. As a Lone Soldier, he experienced firsthand the challenges faced by young immigrants who commit themselves to defending Israel. Recognizing the lack of resources available to Lone Soldiers, Max established Growing Wings to ensure they have access to essential support during and after their service.
Max believes Israel’s right to exist is a fundamental truth, and he continues to fight against misinformation and antisemitism by amplifying the voices of those directly impacted. The lessons he learned at Rashi—compassion, justice, and resilience—continue to guide his work. Receiving the Stephanie Rotsky Tikkun Alum Award is both an honor and a testament to the profound impact Rashi had on shaping his path.
