I enjoyed the results, but I feel a bit anxious this week because some teachers are rushing their lessons and many school works to accomplish. There are both negative and positive impacts. In terms of the former’s impact, it’s the increased stress and for both students and teachers. There might be limited time for proper lesson planning— another stress.

In my opinion, if truth be told, as a teacher it is really a dillema ‘cause every activity conducted by the school was necessary for the students holistic development.

All we ever wanted was freedom of expression and uncensored news–non sugarcoated unrevised
news, but while desperately wishing for that, social media gave us a different form of uncensored content
The internet has revolutionized generation Z It all happened in one blink of an eye: how we communicate, share information and express ourselves in every way– modernized by the internet; which with uncensored videos, is a bad thing
These videos are circulating the media, making it very easy to reach the eyes of children which is heartbreaking They could be innocently laughing at a cartoon then the next second being too
Such content can have detrimental effects on us viewers, particularly children as well as students or vulnerable individuals due to people’s irresponsible use of freedom of expression This should now be within our worries because if this keeps on going, then I don’t know what to say to the future generations Social media was supposed to be wholesome and sugarcoated And although it is

A report from Institute for Family studies shows that although it doesnt quickly shift and mold our personality, uncensored content is slowly and genuinely influencing our behavior and our morality But how?

melody of progress in the symphony of life " One such change that's been gaining attention is implementing a noerasure policy in classes This policy might seem like a big shift, which means no more erasing mistakes on assignments and tests Constantly seeing mistakes without the chance to correct them, is cruelly inhuman
If we deem erasures unacceptable, it implies that making mistakes is not permissible in our world, which is unrealistic We view our mistakes as an opportunity for growth, they shape us into the people we are now However, with this policy, how can we balance the desire to avoid mistakes with the need to learn from them?
Students might become fixated on their mistakes, leading to frustration for not having the ability to change their previous answers which can harm their overall confidence in their academic abilities Just think about knowing the answers but can’t do anything to make
Wit right We should acknowledge the importance of the potential concerns that have been raised about its implementation This policy might inadvertently increase student stress and anxiety, especially among those who already feel pressure to perform perfectly
This method teachers use, where students can't erase mistakes during tests, is just one way to prevent cheating
But there are many other ways to stop cheating while still letting students answer questions honestly
To prevent cheating teachers can take several steps They should be clear about what behaviors are considered cheating and what the consequences are
Teachers can encourage honesty and respect, design tests that focus on understanding that needs critical thinking instead of memorization, and timed tests and tools that check for plagiarism can also help
A classroom where students feel safe to ask for help and where honesty is
Smartphones: Thieves of Independence
oke up, checked my phone; Prepared for an errand, charged my phone; I need to learn
more about this Searched my phone;’ It’s basically technology’s world and we’re just living in it
The prevalence of smartphones in our lives has undoubtedly made things easier and more convenient However, it has also led to a shift in our priorities and a loss of human independence
How did we lose sight of this? Maybe it was back to the medieval times where they didn’t have to check their phones every minute waiting for messages to send and arrive We have become so reliant on our devices that we feel lost without them, constantly checking for notifications that somehow makes us feel ‘seen ’
It is quite haunting how lives are slowly starting to fully revolve on smartphones, as thermites on dead wood, technology is slowly creeping up the universe – eating it up day by day
My father always mentions ‘It wasn’t like this back in the day We had to actually put effort to complete a task ’ But now tasks don t even have to cross our minds becauseof AI “It’s 2023
Phones are life now ” Oh really? Oh really
It is important to remember that technology should be a tool to enhance our lives not control them We must be mindful of the impact it has on our daily routines and relationships It is pivotal to take a step back and appreciate the simple joys of life without reaching for what’s inside our pockets
Maybe it s about time that we
Constantly seeing mistakes without
the chance to
correct them is cruelly inhuman
.
Technology should be a tool to enhance our lives, not control them

"In the quivering silence of the digital age, writers whisper, haunted by the looming specter of AI's encroaching pen " A statement by Ed Lingao, a veteran broadcast journalist had gained attention when he said that, “By the end of 2022, we were discovering that, unfortunately, machines were writing better than many humans. If machines were writing with excellent mediocrity, how come they write better than humans? [Perhaps that means] we lost the skill of writing.” If this continues, this will lead to nothing but an inkblot on a paper
Originally, artificial intelligence was limited to back-office tasks like transcription, subtitling, improving search engine optimization, and other forms of analysis But the role of journalists as writers has been called into question by the emergence of GenAI chatbots in recent years
Skilled writers may not find AI as a total threat rather than a valuable tool As they possess a unique blend of creativity, intuition, and emotional depth that cannot be replicated by artificial intelligence alone. While AI may excel at generating text based on patterns and data, it lacks the human touch that distinguishes truly remarkable writing.
The ability to craft compelling narratives, evoke genuine emotions, and offer profound insights stems from the rich tapestry of human experience, is something that AI struggles to emulate Skilled writers
have honed their craft through years of practice, developing a nuanced understanding of language, style, and storytelling techniques that surpasses the capabilities of any machine.
However, AI presents a significant obstacle to the success of mediocre writers. As AI becomes more adept at writing because they believe that their incompetence will make them defenseless against artificial intelligence These writers are concerned that as AI technology develops, machines may surpass them due to their skill set The idea that your works won't be as valuable or needed in the future is depressing. AI presents a significant obstacle to their success as writers
It possesses a multifaceted threat to mediocre writers, increasing their existing challenges and amplifying their shortcomings With algorithms favoring content produced by AI for its consistency and optimization, mediocre writers struggle to compete for audience attention and recognition
If
machines were writing with excellent mediocrity, how come they write better than humans?
Moreover, AI's capacity for content generation raises the bar for quality expectations As readers become accustomed to the polished prose and errorfree output of AI, they grow increasingly intolerant of mediocre writing This dynamic further marginalizes mediocre writers, pushing them to the fringes of relevance and diminishing their opportunities for growth and advancement in an increasingly competitive landscape.
Additionally, the boost of AI tools for writing tasks, such as grammar checking and content generation, threatens to erode the already limited skill set of mediocre writers Rather than honing their craft through practice and refinement, these writers may become overly reliant on AI solutions, further stagnating their development and perpetuating mediocrity
In order to prevent this, Campus Journalism should provide a platform for young writers to develop their skills and amplify student voices –preparing young writers to face the ultimatum of realworld journalism The future of campus journalism lies in the hands of those who are willing to navigate this evolving landscape with care and dedication to journalistic values It will bring great challenges, but we cannot let campus journalism be captivated into the hands of AI
Rather than viewing AI as a rival, writers should embrace it as a collaborator, leveraging its capabilities to augment their own skills and produce work that is truly extraordinary In essence, while AI may be able to mimic certain aspects of writing, it cannot replicate the depth of thought, passion, and originality that defines the work of a skilled writer even when their ink runs dry
Unlocking the Power of Unity
becomes evident that the successful execution of these initiatives can substantially contract or even eradicate instances of bullying It’s authoritative for both the school and the students to actively engage in these programs for them to yield the results. However, with the emergence of cyberbullying in the new learning space, we would need to adapt to a more comprehensive and concrete approach to tackle bullying in school
Well-designed programs focusing on education, awareness, and support are more likely to produce favorable results
According to Dr Dan Olweus, a Swedish-Norwegian psychologist comprehensive anti-bullying campaigns based on empathy, resilience, and safety concepts have proven to be highly effective in reducing bullying protecting victims, and promoting a welcoming school atmosphere hen we criticize the prospect of preventing bullying and spreading awareness in schools, it
Furthermore, these programs go beyond simple prevention by providing children with essential life skills Their influence continues into maturity benefiting individuals schools, and communities in subtle ways
Based on the research of Dr Dorothy L Espelage, it emphasizes the necessity of a comprehensive bullying prevention plan Early intervention, comprehensive programs, educational efforts, We need a more comprehensive and concrete approach to tackle bullying in school. empathy building, bystander empowerment, inclusivity, teamwork, understanding long-term effects and the use of evidencebased techniques are all included in this strategy The ultimate goal is to reduce bullying so that all students may learn in safer and more caring environments Striking a healthy balance, supported by evidence-based measures, is critical in our joint effort to reduce bullying in schools This adaptability is the key to establishing safer and more inclusive learning environments Preventing bullying is a demanding task, but It s not impossible To succeed we need the dedication of all involved, both students and the school administration It s a partnership that multiplies the impact and equips us to tackle the ever-evolving nature of bullying effectively
A Man that Miguel Dominado: into the Delves
Drawing in the empty pages of life exists a teacher who helps students see a pencil through Miguel Karlo D Dominado, a 33-year old US peace corps volunteer assigned in Pili National High School, believes that students must remain curious and discover who they really are as their true self, focusing on what they are in their innermost and he does that through creativity
For others, art could be a hobby or a talent, some may say, everything is art, but for him, art embodies something special – an immaculate form of life. Then and there, a seed was planted
It rooted from the corners of an art store that he worked for When they started offering art classes, he was inspired to apply as a commercial art teacher He finds joy every time he shows his friends how he draws, saying that it feels just like telling a story and sharing knowledge that helps others understand who he is, what he does, and why he does it And that motivated him to teach students how to tell their very own stories.
“I wanted to find something that challenges both myself and the people around my community I found out about PeaceCorps through news articles and friends,” he said when asked about how he became a volunteer.
animations, video games, or TV shows that help them understand and appreciate the value of art
Branches were formed when he got assigned in Pili NHS He discovered that the art education in he Philippines is almost similar from the US but only a very few people and a few communities are exposed to different techniques, styles, disciplines, and functions of art. That, aside from that, only a few communities are given exposure and can afford the time to watch various media, movies,
I have a very simple set of principles: art is subjective, and rules are to be learned so we know how to break them.
MiguelDomnado
Despite the short span of time he is given, he achieved more than what a teacher could do He has helped students, with initial interest in art, optimize inner form of it
Dominado is a native English speaker, which tends to bring language barriers into lessons and when communicating with students. But he doesn’t let that stop him share the beauty He said that he had to find certain words to match the context in Bicol language and that he sometimes finds a student that can help translate his points into Bicol since Tagalog is also a barrier sometimes But regardless of that, and of all the difficulties, he flourishingly executes his role as a teacher
And we know by now that art is subjective it manifests from the most worldly and mundane, to the most sporadic and
transcendental A universe encapsulated in its thoughts
It helps a person express their feelings and thoughts creatively and helps as a type of therapy that soothes people and helps with their problems It works from being a coping mechanism to being an instrument to freedom of expression
Even though not all may appreciate art, art has its own way to our hearts
Miguel Dominado is an example of what art stands for His imagination had intertwined with passion: to show the world what art really is

Building a prayer room is not as easy as it looks, especially when it comes to funding the construction "It's really hard constructing this project because we don't have a stable fund building this prayer room and it's hard to find a proper laborer " said Ma'am Marrieta adding, “Though, our fund isn't enough for construction, we still continue it little by little” Ma am Amelia emphasized that "This prayer room is for all regardless of what religion you are on We will not force someone to get inside and pray but we

Welwiltschia,

FrancesVincentDecena By
he minute Friedrich Welwitsch was cruising through the burning grounds of Africa’s Namib Desert in 1859, his eyes caught something, and his head jammed wondering whether what he saw
an illusion or not and all he could do was stoop down and marvel at its perfectly disastrous display of two leaves that may have been as old as a millennia. That thing he saw that day was the undying plant named Welwitschia.
Welwitschia (Welwitschia mirabilis)
a very long-lived gymnosperm plant (Welwitschia mirabilis) of the Namib desert with a short woody stem and two strap-shaped leathery leaves that grow continuously throughout the plant's life
Belonging to a tiny family of cone-bearing gymnosperms called genetophytes, the Welwitschia grows as separate male and female For the rest of its lifetime, it grows only two leaves down an area called the Basal Meristem that, according to an article from the New York Times, “supplies fresh cells to the growing plant ” With its two-leaf feature, the Afrikaans named it Tweeblaarkanniedood that means “two leaves that cannot die ”
The Welwitschia, however, is not immortal; it just lives really, really long. So long, in fact, that
carbon dating shows Welwitschia can remain living for as long as 500600 years while the larger specimens have shown to live up to 2000
What’s more? The Namib Desert the place it calls home is no suitable place for ordinary plants to live This barren land rains only two inches of water per year (which is hardly enough water tosustain even cacti), making its soil poor in nutrients
In order to withstand these deficiencies, the Welwitschia, according to the BBC, absorbs the moisture from the desert’s
fog through millions of tiny stomata in its leaf, which it then transfers and reserves at a large tap root underneath
Moreover, just recently, scientists have uncovered the genetic secrets highlighting how Welwitschia can preserve its DNA and proteins for millenniums

January to November 2023 when the Department of Health (DOH) reported four confirmed cases of walking pneumonia among recorded influenza-like illness (ILI)
Walking pneumonia is a mild lung infection also known as Atypical Pneumonia that is caused by certain molds (fungi), viruses or bacteria; often by a common bacterium, Mycoplasma pneumonia Its symptoms include sore throat, sneezing, chest pain, low-grade fever, mild chills, persistent cough (dry or mucusproducing), fatigue, and headache
The term "walking" refers to the fact that most symptoms can be managed to the point where you can resume your regular activities without
the need for bed rest or hospitalization
According to DOH, the four cases were identified among those who contracted ILI and clarified that mycoplasma is a common pathogen “It is one of the influenza-like illnesses, which presents as fever, sore throat, and cough,” the agency said
Who does walking pneumonia affect?
The DOH stated that the walking pneumonia affects and targets all ages, someone who have a weak immune system, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, emphysema, near in crowded places, like schools, dormitories,
or nursing homes, uses tobacco products and regularly use inhaled corticosteroids
Is walking pneumonia contagious?
It's true that walking pneumonia spreads quickly
Like any other airborne disease, this one spreads through tiny droplets that are released into the air when a patient coughs, sneezes, talks, sings, or breathes close to you
How long does walking pneumonia usually last?
Walking pneumonia often last four to six weeks Walking Pneumonia frequently manifests as a cough, fever,
This study, published in Nature Communications, states that the Welwitschia’s genomes have doubled 86 million years ago which, during that time, the whole Namib Desert was just beginning to take shape, engulfing it in immense droughts and dryness
According to lead author of the study and botanist at Shenzhen, China’s Fairy Lake Botanical Garden Dr Tao Wan, sudden genome duplications are often likely to happen when a subject is exposed to “extremestress” for long, long periods of time; but with its genomes doubled, what would it cost the Welwitschia?
According to Dr Wan, the plant would have to consume heavier energy due to a bigger genome, which ultimately makes it
hard for it to live To make the matter worse, a bulky amount of the plant’s genomes are retrotransporons, which are just “junk” arrangements of selfreplicating DNA, according to Dr Andrew Leitch, a co-author of the study and a plant geneticist at Queen Mary University of London But: The Welwitschia is able to hinder these junk retrotransporons (from taking all its life-force) with a process called DNA methylation As made clear by Dr Wan, DNA methylation helps minimize the total energy consumed by the plant’s doubled DNA, giving the Welwitschia a capable and inexpensive genome
Using the knowledge attained in the Welwitschia’s DNA, scientists are figuring out a way in improving agriculture that would adapt in our ever-sowarming climate. Says many botanical researchers, studying this plant’s chaotic DNA may also aid us in producing crops that are more robust and selfintegrating
chest pain, moderate chills, headache, and can still be quite painful It is compared to the feeling of a severe cold and taking care of yourself is the best road to recover
In order to stop respiratory infections from getting worse, the public is urged to conduct personal self-evaluations, use layers of protection (masking, making sure there is enough ventilation, isolating when ill, getting vaccinated, booster shots), wash their hands frequently, and cover nose or mouth when coughing or sneezing Although there is no need for concern, the DOH emphasizes the significance of awareness and prevention

The Fast And Furious of Harnessing A.I. in the Academe
change the future. Its establishment proved that it can write essays at sonic speeds, ace tests, and produce lesson frameworks in seconds that, ultimately, could shift the academe off its track--augmenting the landscape of education forever
While merging A I with education appears revolutionary, the truth sets things differently: that overreliance to it can, in fact, become disastrous
A I is a technology that was first introduced in the 1950s, but had only risen in 2022. It is plied to simulate human intellect in a digital modem, and, in the forefront of the academe, its roots have already seeped in The further these roots entangle through the misuse of it, however, the more it alienates students from the very purpose of the academia: to manufacture a generation who are critical and aware
In fact, according to an article from the New York University (NYU) School of Professional Studies, the overdepency that students have in
A I could lead to the "loss of critical thinking
Chatbots, grammar tools, essay makers, and image generators current systems go by What would excellence mean if an essay produced by ChatGPT produces higher marks than the student could ever achieve? Being not a speciest, A I does have benefits when utilized responsibly It can help make frameworks of our academic projects more efficiently, and it is only up to us to refine it in a way that does not compromise our integrity as a member of the academe This, however, is more of a fever dream than a plausible vision. We can never guarantee that students would use it ethically, after all.
A I is power in the modern age, yet too much of it becomes poison The antidote? Upholding responsibility Artifical Intelligence and pure human capacity can coexistently intertwine if both are used safely and properly, without compromising the integrity and ethical considerations of both sanctions

From the beginning of industrialization to the present, there has occurred substantial advancement in energy improvement
We still have a long way to go in terms of achieving sustainability in our energy usage For example, Pili National High School’s (PiliNHS’) monthly electricity bill last school year 20222023 has ballooned to P150,000. This highlights the need for more sustainable energy sources and efficient usage of energy in school facilities
The high cost of electricity can be a major burden for schools and
power outages can be a major disruption to schools and can negatively impact the learning experience of students This is particularly true for classes that rely on electricity for teaching and learning Fortunately, integrating solar panels in schools can be a great solution to this problem
Solar panels have become increasingly popular over the years as a renewable energy source, and they offer numerous benefits for schools
Integrating solar panels in our schools is a great way to not only reduce the carbon footprint but also provide an opportunity for students to learn about sustainable energy sources One of the primary benefits of solar panels in schools is the cost savings they can provide By generating

their electricity, our schools can significantly reduce their dependence on the grid and avoid the impact of power outages This can free up funds that can be used for other important educational needs
Overall, it's difficult to say whether we are energysufficient or not without considering various factors such as population growth and consumption patterns. However, it's undeniable that there has been a significant improvement in energy technology and usage over time, we need to continue working towards a more sustainable future in terms of our energy usage, to meet our energy needs while also protecting the environment, maybe not for us now but for the betterment of our school
