“The most memorable takeaway from that event was that cleanup drives and tree planting activities are not the best solution to better the environment. Indeed, such activities would help manage the waste disposed of, and that it fills up the number of trees that had been cut off for the sake of modernity. But the solution does not solely rely on these, nor on the practice of proper waste disposal. I realized, the moment that I saw how hundreds and thousands of waste come through the shoreline, that the issue is mainly on the consumption of such products that contribute to the overall waste at the dumpsites and such. I do agree that clean-up drives, tree planting activities, and proper waste disposal are good to the environment, but I realized that these are all secondary measures. The ground zero of caring for the environment begins at the moment you pick a product at the grocery or buy something at a local store and you decide your 'after-consumption-practice' . ”

“This was the first time that we had to host an event like this. As it was well received by the participants, it became a way for us to host more district events. ”

“My most memorable experience during WRW was about our launching of The RACME Pod, a Spotify podcast of the Rotaract Club of Mega Edsa. In our first episode, we were able to tackle one specific issue which is about the saving mothers and children. With our guest speaker, Miss Jaira Marie Del Mundo from The Sanctuary Project - UPD, she was able to share some of her insights about genderbased violence and the stigma about it. I learned that it is very important that we take action regarding the issues we are facing in the country. No matter how big or small your initiatives, it will be a help to make our community live a better and safe environment for all. ”
