Fettler Design
Fettler Design creates minimal, functional lighting inspired by Scandinavian and Japandi design. Each piece is handfinished and thoughtfully made, with work featured in homes, galleries and hospitality spaces across the UK, as well as regularly at Tynemouth Market.
"I’m Mike, the founder of Fettler Design. I first started making lightshades years ago at the very beginning of my design career, after being commissioned by a Danish designer to develop Scandinavian-style lighting while working for a machining company. After leaving that role, I spent several years in consultancy specialising in fabrication and machining, before eventually going self-employed and setting up my own workshop. I decided to revisit lighting as a way to generate income, but it quickly became clear that the lightshades were more popular than anything else I was making. Originally from the Lake District and now based in Newcastle upon Tyne, the designs are calm, functional and minimal, drawing on a Japandi influence. Each piece is carefully hand-finished and assembled, and my work can now be found in bars, restaurants, galleries and homes across the UK. You can also find us in person at Tynemouth Market most weekends."
