"This room has always been my favourite in the house. The huge bay window fills it with light from morning onwards, and the double doors at the centre open straight onto the garden, so I can sit and watch the birds and the occasional squirrel wander past. The high ceilings, with their delicate moulded cornicing, give it a wonderful sense of space, and the generous proportions mean it never feels cramped, however you choose to use it. When winter arrives, it transforms into the cosiest spot in the house: the original fireplace, with its beautiful tiled surround, comes into its own, and a fire crackling away while the garden turns frosty outside is hard to beat. It’s a room that feels bright and airy in summer and warm and inviting in winter, and I’ll miss it more than any other."

High Barnet High Barnet is a suburban town in North London, located within the London Borough of Barnet. Known for its rich history, green spaces, and strong community atmosphere, High Barnet combines the character of a traditional market town with the convenience of modern London living. The town's origins date back to the medieval period, when it developed as an important market settlement along the Great North Road. One of the most significant events associated with the area is the Battle of Barnet, a decisive conflict during the Wars of the Roses that took place near the town. Today, High Barnet is known for its attractive high street, which features a mix of independent shops, cafés, restaurants, and well-known retailers. The area is also home to several parks and open spaces, offering residents and visitors opportunities for recreation and relaxation. Nearby green areas such as Hadley Green contribute to the town's pleasant and semi-rural character. Transport links make High Barnet a popular residential area. High Barnet Station serves as the northern terminus of the Northern line, providing direct connections to central London and making commuting convenient.
