These may be a few of the things on your tick list when searching for your new home, and you can find them all under one roof at Stronghold Climbing Centre.Located a five-minute walk from Tottenham Hale Retail Park, Stronghold is London’s largest bouldering only centre offering climbing for all ages, as well as a gym, café and event space.

Climbing is an accessible sport that challenges you both mentally and physically, encourages teamwork, builds confidence and promotes a healthy lifestyle.

Bouldering does not require ropes and harnesses, instead participants climb short, but tricky, routes on brightly coloured holds over safety mats. The sport is physically challenging, requiring balance, technique and strength, but also tests the brain’s ability to solve problems. When professional climber Patrick Hammond realised there was a need for a modern, world class climbing facility suitable for both professionals and families alike in North London, he set about creating just that and Stronghold Climbing Centre opened on Ashley Road in March 2017.

With a young family of his own, Patrick made sure the wall was built with all ages in mind and he included a dedicated children’s area where even the smallest tots can discover the joy of climbing. Experienced climbers will find both modern and classic training boards, a climbing-centric gym, a fresh set of boulder problems every week, and bespoke training plans.

The team of instructors are central to the social, inclusive environment that Patrick envisioned, and they are on hand seven days a week to support the community and encourage the Stronghold lifestyle.

The wide range of instructor-led sessions on offer include inductions, children’s classes, adult improvers’ courses, school and youth group sessions, birthday parties, and corporate or charity events.

Patrick wanted the centre to be more than just a place to hone climbing skills but also part of the local community which is why the café is open to passers-by to pop in for coffee and cake and for those looking for a workspace, it offers a calm environment with fast Wi-Fi and charging points. The centre has also hosted film premieres and community events.

Stronghold Climbing Centre is just a short walk from Tottenham Hale tube, train and bus stations and customers are encouraged to use public transport where possible. There is on-site bicycle parking and a few parking spaces for those who chose to drive.
