LaTeka Starnes-Council is an author, speaker, and Navy veteran who uses her past experiences to empower others LaTeka has faced various traumatic life events, leading her to suffer from mentally taxing hardships Despite these hardships, she was able to use her experiences to write books that provide support and understanding for those facing similar situations LaTeka is an inspiring example of how even our most complex challenges can be turned into opportunities for growth and healing She will embark on a book tour entitled "Picking Up the Pieces" on June 17, 2023, in Sugar Hill, Georgia, to continue her mission of empowering others

You are a Navy veteran. Can you share how your time in the military impacted how you lead today?

My time in the Navy dramatically impacted my life in more ways than one I lead with transparency, integrity, and honesty Granted, I am a blunt person However, I am heartfelt I lead by example and not the motto do as I say, not as I do We learn together on this journey

You have endured many obstacles in your lifetime Can you share how you overcame and empowered other women facing similar hurdles?

Obstacles! Whew Yes, I've had my fair share It took me some time to fully overcome a few, but as I began to heal and understand my mindset, I told myself when I could guide others through, I would.

I am now in the position to be that guiding light, and I speak more to women about ways to overcome those challenges I had to take a step back and put my focus back on myself, and now that I empower women

Who would you say is your ideal reader for this project?

Picking Up the Pieces is a book that guides you on how to get your life back on track from an abusive relationship The ideal reader is anyone who has to start over no matter the reason and is unsure where to begin

Tell us about your upcoming tour. What can women expect when attending?

They will learn about my 1st Guiding Light Healing Retreat Cruise. I am about to start my speaking book signing tour on June 17th.

I will share my journey in dealing with military sexual trauma, domestic violence, narcissistic abuse, mental health, and finding the willpower to live again Women can expect to cry, laugh, and network My goal is to be the guiding light for those going through their own storms

What message do you hope women take away from your platform?

That you are bigger and stronger than any trauma you might have faced Find your tribe and begin to heal

Where do you hope to see your brand in the next 3-5 years?

In the next 3-5 years, I hope to find my skincare brand and books on the shelves of stores, me speaking worldwide and empowering women.
