Tenafly Community Garden celebrates 10 years of bloom and bounty
BY JOHN SNYDER OF NORTHERN VALLEY PRESS
From rescue raptors and native gardens to moonlight hikes and Meadowlands advocacy, Flat Rock Brook Nature Association is leaning into its role as both an environmental preserve and a community classroom. The nonprofit preserve recently welcomed Bergen County Audubon Society President Don Torino for a talk on New Jersey wildlife, the Meadowlands and environmental advocacy. According to Flat Rock Brook, Torino reflected on a lifetime spent observing the Meadowlands and how that appreciation evolved into a commitment to protecting open space and teaching others about the regionʼs ecological importance. GROOMS
Mary and Timothy OʼShea of Englewood Cliffs were among 209 couples celebrating milestone anniversaries honored by Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin at the Archdiocese of Newarkʼs annual Wedding Anniversary Mass on May 3 at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark. The OʼSheas, parishioners of Holy Trinity Church in Fort Lee, are celebrating 60 years of marriage. During the Mass, couples marking five, 25, 50 and more than 60 years of marriage renewed their vows and received a blessing from Cardinal Tobin. Following Mass, Tobin personally congratulated each couple and presented commemorative anniversary pins. “Your marriage is not only a gift to each other, but also a gift to the Church,” Tobin told the couples. “May your hearts never be troubled because Christ walks with you. May your homes always
