Years of Hand Craftsmanship From creating fine glass mirrors for the old royal courts of Europe to making sturdy glassware for the modern-day hospitality trade, Spiegelau has a history of high performance. For five centuries, we have combined hand craftsmanship with the latest technology in glass-making techniques.

1521

1521–1845

The first recorded mention of the Spiegelau factory is in the last will and testament of Erasmus Mospurger.

In the 16th century, the factory produced glass mirrors, beads and decorative bottles that were popular among the royal courts. In 1845, Spiegelau made intricate snuff bottles, which were considered highly fashionable at the time.

1911–1926

2004

2016

In 1911, the factory was rebuilt and modernized. In1926, owner Fritz Pretzfelder gave the company the name Kristallglasfabrik Spiegelau GmbH, or The Spiegelau Crystal Glass Factory.

Riedel Glass Works acquired Spiegelau, adding to their collection of brands that includes Nachtmann and Riedel.

Spiegelau partnered with True Brands™ in 2016 as their exclusive distributor across the US.

GLASS COMPOSITION The quality of the glassware depends greatly on the type of glass used and the characteristics of its ingredients. Standard glass consists of sand, lime, and sodium or potassium oxides. Spiegelau crystal glass has the same ingredients, plus a certain percentage of metal oxide. These ingredients are melted at approximately 2732°F and formed into the desired product. All Spiegelau glasses are made of lead-free crystal glass. The highest quality crystal ingredients make Spiegelau products more durable, dishwasher safe, break-resistant, and more brilliant than glasses made with cheaper compositions.

To ensure an enduring quality standard, Spiegelau employs modern technology and optimized machinery to create high-end products at affordable prices. QUALITY MADE IN GERMANY To ensure a high standard of quality, Spiegelau has a strong commitment to its production sites in Germany. Modern technology and optimized machinery enable us to offer premium quality products at affordable prices. We take pride in the effort and passion that we put into creating the perfect glassware.

The Secret to a Great Beer Glass:

Passion

& Science

The Spiegelau Craft Beer Glasses have been approved by an expert tasting panel of master brewers and industry professionals. Through workshops focusing on beer enjoyment, the experts agreed that the custom-shaped glasses deliver complex aromas to the nose while demonstrating the optimum beer texture, balance, and flavor intensity on the palate.

“ The shape of the glass pulls the hop upward, releasing the natural aroma and heightening the tasting experience.” Sam Callagione, Dogfish Head Craft Brewery

INDIA PALE ALE GLASS American IPAs stand out because of their bold, hops-driven flavor. A common woe for the IPA drinker is head retention and loss of fizz. Spiegelau's IPA glass addresses both with a series of ridges, which re-carbonates the beer as you sip and promotes better head. STANDOUT FEATURE: Ridges that assist with head retention by re-carbonating as you sip. DEVELOPED WITH: Dogfish Head, Sierra Nevada

AMERICAN WHEAT GLASS American wheat beers are a well-known gateway brew: they're light and refreshing, which makes them accessible to a wide range of palates. But sometimes, the delicate aromas of wheat beer can be lost altogether. Spiegelau's American wheat beer glass has a wide bowl that preserves the beer's fragrances, while its smooth interior and angled lip delivers those fragrances straight to the nostrils. STANDOUT FEATURE: Capacious bowl retains wheat beer aromas. DEVELOPED WITH: Bell's Brewery

STOUT GLASS Stouts have a lot going on. Their flavor profiles are deep and complex, spanning notes like cocoa, espresso, cherries, prunes, and even tar. Spiegelau complements stouts' richness with a carefully angled rim, which focuses the beer's aroma to heighten appreciation of its flavor. It's a simple, but crucial design choice that puts the smallest distance possible between you and the stout. STANDOUT FEATURE: Angle of the rim consolidates aroma to maximize the enjoyment of a stout's complex flavor profile. DEVELOPED WITH: Left Hand Brewing Company, Rogue Ales

“... it’s almost impossible to go back to a more standard pint glass.” Brett Joyce, Rogue Ales

Developed in collaboration with master brewers from leading American Craft Beer Breweries

Anatomy of a Craft Beer Glass

LASER CUT RIM allows crisp, clean delivery in every sip.

WIDE MOUTH OPENING delivers beer evenly across your palate. This enhances mouthfeel and offers a harmony of sweetness and acidity.

THIN WALLS maintain proper beer temperature longer. Thick walls can transfer more heat into the beer, and lose fizz faster.

BOWL amplifies aroma through slender, bowed shape.

REFRESHER aerates beer in and out of the glass with wave-like ridges to balance flavors as you drink.

CRYSTALLINE CONSTRUCTION offers purity and clarity. Thinner than glass, crystal allows for greater flexibility in shape.
