A WORD FROM OUR ARTISTIC DIRECTOR The energy is palpable as we step into our 97th season! We are quite literally building toward our future as the reimagining of Payne Park Auditorium begins! Later this season, we look forward to opening the doors to our new home. This long-awaited moment will allow us to grow and continue serving our community, meeting our mission at its most basic level and beyond. During these moments of change, it has required us to be thoughtful and conscious about the choices we make today. As we invest in Payne Park we are also making sure we step into that new home strong, responsible, and ready for what comes next… But being responsible does not mean losing The Players flair that makes our work feel like us. You will still see vibrant costumes brought to life by Jill and our incredible costume crew, Brian’s imaginative set designs carried out by Scott and Logan. You will still walk through the doors and be welcomed by a box office staff who probably already knows your name and the section you like to sit in, and you will see a Board of Trustees who are not simply sitting around a table, but are present and integrated into nearly every aspect of what we are building together. That is The Sarasota Players. It is the people behind the work just as much as the work itself. We may have made some different choices, but different does not mean bad. It means being intentional about where we put our resources while continuing to create the kind of theatre our audiences have come to expect from The Players: bold, colorful, creative, with a tremendous amount of heart. A few things I hope for this season… I hope you see a performer you have never seen before, discover a story you did not expect to love, or leave the theatre still talking about what you just experienced (and tell your friends about it). I hope our stage reflects the many people who call Sarasota home and continues to create opportunities for artists and audiences of all different ages, backgrounds, and experiences to find something here that speaks to them. The heart of The Players remains exactly where it has always been, with our people. So as you experience our 97th season, I hope you see it for what it is: an intentional step forward. We are continuing to create something meaningful that will be around for years to come, especially as we continue on this path to 100 years. Later this season, the lights will come up at Payne Park, and we will welcome audiences to their seats (we promise they will be more comfortable). Our performers will take the stage, and we will continue to build the future while honoring our past so that Sarasota has a place to create forever. Thank you for continuing to show up, for trusting us through the changes, and for believing in what this theatre can be. We are building something special, and I am incredibly grateful that we get to build it together!

As You Like It BIOS Amelia Valery (Rosalind) is excited to be in her first production at The Sarasota Players with this amazing and talented cast. Earlier this year, she starred in The Rainmaker at Venice Theatre and has loved getting to be involved in the theatre community in Sarasota. Amelia would like to thank Kelly, and all her friends and family for their support. Vera Samuels (Celia) Alas, Vera has appeared in the following Sarasota Players productions: Cabaret (Fraulein Kost), Into the Woods (Baker’s Wife), American Idiot (St Jimmy) and Proof (Catherine). ‘Tis true she has been seen even more recently at Venice Theatre in Emma (Emma) and at The Off-Central in Art (Marc). Henceforth, she is delighted to be spending the holiday season touring the country in A Christmas Carol with Entertainment Central Productions - Western Company. “Love to my Bee, my Ma, and my Vin.” Charlie Philips (Touchstone) is thrilled to don the motley as Touchstone. Recent roles include Mohammed (The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife), Caleb (The Spitfire Grill), and Biff (Death of a Salesman). He’s performed everywhere from Sarasota to Brussels and once hosted radio shows as Shiggidy Shades and El Dictador. Languages: five; jokes: unlimited. Draper Harris (Duke Frederick) is thrilled to make his debut with The Sarasota Players. His favorite roles include: Much Ado About Nothing (Borachio), And Jesus Moonwalks the Mississippi (Brer Bit) and West Side Story (Bernardo). He holds a degree in theater from UMassAmherst and is the founder and artistic director of Sarasota Shakespeare Community of Practice (SSCoP). www.theesscop.com Zachary Tudor (Orlando) is so thrilled to be in his first Sarasota Players production! His recent roles include Mr. Knightly in Emma, Curly in Oklahoma and Kurt in Heathers. He’s very excited to share the stage with such an incredible cast and would like to thank his parents, wonderful girlfriend and puppy for their support and putting up with his crazy schedule! Hunter Cross (Oliver) first started acting at Venice Theatre performing in many shows during his youth, including Big River (Tom Sawyer) and Second Samuel (B-flat). He has since performed in a variety of theatre productions, sketch comedy, and independent films. He thanks the Gods, both Old and New, for this opportunity and dedicates this performance to his mother for her love and support.
Jeffrey A. Jannuzzo (Adam/Court Lord) is returning to stage acting before live audiences after many decades of court acting before live, and not so live, judges. Before moving to Florida he was a commercial trial and appellate lawyer in New York. Jeff has a B.S. in acting and directing from Skidmore College, and studied acting in New York before going to Yale Law School. He was on the board of a downtown theatre company, Colonnades Theatre Lab, for ten years and was its last chair. Nickolas "Nix" Ralston (Dennis) An illustration graduate from Ringling College, he has a love for the arts of all kinds. Nix has worked with Venice Theater before on The Cake and Emma, and is excited to be a part of As You Like It. Evan Bradshaw (Charles the Wrestler/ William) is excited to join The Sarasota Players for the first time in As You Like It! This marks his third play. Outside of theater, he utilizes his culinary school background in local restaurants. He is always ready to whip up a cassoulet for anyone who calls him up, though he warns: you better bring a dessert to the table, or you might find yourself wrestling with his inner Charles! Thank you to the creative team and community for this wonderful opportunity. Paul Hutchison (Duke Senior) Last appeared at The Players in Cabaret (Herr Schultz), and The Graduate (Mr. Robinson), The Odd Couple ( Speed), The Crucible (Rev. Parris), 12 Angry Jurors (No.6), and God of Carnage (Alan). Recent shows include And Then There Were None (Wargrave) and Death of a Salesman (Ben) at the Manatee Players, and The Torchbearers (Hossefross) at Venice Theatre. Sherrie McKinley (Jaques) is thrilled to be making her Players stage debut! She was last seen in Little Grey Hat Productions’ The Remnant and has also appeared in local indie film projects. Sherrie sends a heartfelt shoutout to Marcus D. Johnson for his continued support, her family and friends for their unwavering enthusiasm, and, most of all, her partner in crime, Austin McKinley, for encouraging her to return to this passion. Kristina Rosenbaum (Amiens) This is the first play Kristina has done since Jesus Christ Superstar in the last decade of the 1900s. She had the opportunity to play music for The Players’ Twelfth Night at the Bazaar on Apricot Lime and got hooked. Thank you to Music Compound for giving me the experience to pull this off! “Much love to my family and friends for their support, and Kelly for letting me play!” Mark Woodland (Corin) was last seen in Twelfth Night and as Robert in Proof. He is an actor, director, singer, musician, and writer who has performed in the region for 40 years. Next up: The Living Stars, which he co-wrote, as part of the Kids Fringe Festival in January.
Julian King (Silvius/ U/S Orlando) is ecstatic to be a part of As You Like It! He is a senior at Out-Of-Door Academy. You might have seen him as Max in The Play That Goes Wrong, Wayne Hopkins in Puffs or Leaf Coneybear in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. He'd like to thank his family and cast mates. Crash! Boom! Pow! That's called a diversion. He's just stolen your wallet. Really. Go check. Delilah Dolan (Phoebe/ U/S Rosalind) is sixteen years old and has been performing in theater since she was nine. She’s taken part in productions such as Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, as Willy Wonka, Showtime at SOD, as Ginger Spice, and Sleepy Hollow, as Greta. She is so thrilled to get the chance to perform in this production and thanks her family and cast for their support. She hopes everyone enjoys the show and finds the same magic she does in the Forest of Arden. Kyla Jackson (Audrey/ U/S Phoebe) is very excited to be a part of As You Like It and it’s her first Players show! She plays Audrey and understudies for Phoebe. She played in I and You as Caroline, Call It What It Is by KT Curran, and Mall Stories of the 1980s as Susan. Thank you to my family and friends for supporting me. Thank you to this amazing cast you’ve all been so great to work with! Cody Zeibko (Le Beau/Second Brother/ Forest Lord/ U/S Silvius ) Man of many talents. Rick Kopp (Sir Oliver Martex/ Hymen) is excited to be making his Players debut. He has appeared on several local community theatre stages, designed and built sets for community theatre and high schools, and has also stage managed. Some favorite roles have been Norman in The Boys Next Door, The Wizard in The Wizard of Oz, Pa Joad in The Grapes of Wrath, and Leo in Chapter Two. Audrey Phillippi (Forest Folk/ U/S Celia) is a rare and illusive creature, frequently found at The Players painting set pieces (Rent, Annie, The Crucible, Assassins, and Hadestown) and Assistant StageManaging (The Crucible and Hadestown). However, much like a mythical cave beast, she's thrilled to be leaving her shadowy nooks and joining the cast of her first mainstage show! She'd like to thank her castmates for being awesome, Kelly and Aether for putting on a great show, and anyone who found this bio funny. Hope you like it! April Barnwell (Forest Folk/ U/S Audrey) has lived in Sarasota a little over 20 years. She took a brief break from The Players, and this production is the first since the break. Other theater productions she performed in are The Taming of the Shrew, and Wit. She also performed in several musical productions such as Smile, Annie, Mame, A Chorus Line, and White Christmas.
Aether Baskin (Stage Manager) Since moving down to Florida in 2022 to take part in Venice Theatres TTAP program, Aether has worked on over 25 shows between stage management, sound, and crew. A few of their favorites are Lerner and Loewe’s My Fair Lady, The Addams Family, and Emma. This is their first show with The Sarasota Players, and they are excited to work with such a wonderful cast and team of designers!!
