Outdoor Pursuits Equipment Discounts

The department has currently negotiated a 15% discount at Open Air Cambridge, Tamarack Outdoors (online), Bushcraftlab and Cotswold Outdoor (Cambridge branch) for the 2021-22 academic year.

This discount applies to any student involved in a club or society run by the Perse Outdoor Pursuits department. To get the discount, parents simply have to show the Outdoor Pursuits logo at the till. Discounts at Open Air and Cotswold only apply in the Cambridge stores (not online). Equipment Advice

Kit Lists

Outdoor Pursuits staff endeavour to ensure that parents are fully aware of the equipment requirements for each group and each trip. Kit lists are sent out at the beginning of each year for groups and at the launch of each trip. Kit lists usually feature detailed advice on each item of equipment required and suggested brands.

Equipment Seminars

Student training programmes feature an equipment talk early in the Michaelmas term in which students are shown the type of equipment required and how to pack/ carry it. In these meetings, students are given the opportunity to try equipment. In most cases these seminars allow students to make a more informed choice when purchasing equipment.

In-store

All outdoor shops in Cambridge are provided with kit lists outlining the requirements for each trip run by the Perse Outdoor Pursuits department. Shop staff will usually be able to give you sound advice on what is required. Open Air Cambridge have also labelled all recommended equipment in store with PES logo labels to make the selection of equipment even simpler.
