Thank you! What a year for The Pennington School! In 2023–24 we witnessed exceptional academic achievement, enjoyed creative performances, gathered for community celebrations, brought home championship wins in athletics, and sent 104 new graduates into the world to continue on their paths to individual excellence.
This past fall, we also launched the Forever Pennington campaign—our historic $50M multiyear endeavor. I have been moved by our community’s generosity to this critical effort over the past twelve months. Donors have stepped up to make first-time gifts, increased their leadership giving levels, and made new commitments for campaign priorities and projects.
Thanks to you, we have strengthened the foundation of all that makes a Pennington education invaluable—the student experience, faculty excellence, and our campus and community spaces. More than 1,300 community members made gifts as part of the Forever Pennington campaign in 2023–24, helping launch multiple campus improvement projects and raising a record $1.65M for the Pennington Fund last year.
At The Pennington School, we cultivate transformative experiences and meaningful life lessons that empower generations of students to achieve their dreams. Here, they learn to advocate for themselves and seek support when needed; they are encouraged to embrace risks, strive for individual excellence, and persist in the face of challenges. Financial Overview
2023–24
Generous philanthropic support and strategic management of Pennington’s financial resources are central to implementing the School’s mission.
During 2023–24, Pennington received gifts totaling $3.47 million from cash and commitments, which were directed to the Pennington Fund, endowment funds, capital projects, and restricted purposes. This total includes a record-breaking $1.65 million to the Pennington Fund.
Over the past decade, Pennington’s endowment has seen steady growth with a 6.7% ten-year return. As of June 30, 2024, Pennington’s endowment was valued at $50 million. The long-term preservation and growth of the fund are priorities that help to ensure the endowment meets the needs of today’s students while growing capital to support future generations. Together, fundraising revenue and endowment draw contributed close to 10% of the School’s overall $36 million in revenue for 2023–24.

CAMPAIGN SPOTLIGHT
Last fall, community members gathered to officially launch The Pennington School’s historic Forever Pennington campaign. This $50M comprehensive effort focuses on four pillars: the student experience, faculty excellence, campus and community spaces, and financial sustainability. Thanks to generous donors from across the School community, we have seen momentum and excitement within each of these strategic priority areas. Now, a year later, we celebrate early milestones with recently completed projects and compelling opportunities for philanthropic investment.
Completed Projects: SUMMER 2024
The Plaza at Meckler Library is a newly designed gathering space at the heart of campus, providing a beautiful and practical area for collaboration and learning. The thoughtfully designed plaza features seating surrounding the “Fountain of Knowledge.” Enhanced landscaping and an expanded patio create a seamless transition into the existing backdrop. This addition to Pennington’s outdoor community spaces is a significant step in realizing the School’s vision of creating a cohesive, safe, and inviting pedestrian campus— as articulated in the School’s strategic plan and campus master plan. The project has received generous support from the Meckler Family and the estate of Susan R. Clark ’76, and additional donor commitments for the next stages of the O’Hanlon Green Expansion project remain an ongoing campaign priority.
The Girls’ Locker Room in Sparks Memorial Gym has undergone a major renovation, transforming it into a fresh, modern space for Pennington’s student-athletes. The project is a significant investment in enriching the student experience, helping our young women prepare for and recharge from the hard work they bring to their athletic endeavors. The locker room was gutted and the space reimagined to maximize the utility of the square footage. Along with the refurbished build-out, the space features new air conditioning, fully upgraded interiors with elevated finishes, and a designated junior varsity team area. The project has been made possible thanks to a lead gift from Marian and Ken Disken GP’26 ’27 and generous contributions from Karen and James Griswold P’19 ’22, Michelle and Charles King P’13 ’14 ’16 ’21 ’23, Lisa Van Strat and Dan Mahony P’18 ’21, Coach Wendy Morris, and Patrick Murphy ’80
Campaign Priority In Focus: STUDENT ASSISTANCE FUND
In June 2024, The Pennington School was awarded a prestigious $100,000 grant from the Edward E. Ford Foundation to support the Student Assistance Fund. This fund, which provides essential resources to cover the full cost of the Pennington experience for qualified students, was an excellent match for the foundation’s mission of improving secondary education. The grant requires that Pennington raise an additional $200,000 in support for the Student Assistance Fund over the coming year (by July 31, 2025).
Pennington first launched the Student Assistance Fund in 2016, recognizing that although traditional financial aid funding provides access, it does not cover the full cost of attendance. The fund ensures that all students, regardless of financial ability, can fully engage in all the School has to offer. Students who qualify receive help to cover expenses, including school supplies, athletic equipment, activity fees, and more.

Nancy and Luke Visconti P’18, and the Sykes Family helped establish and grow the fund over the past eight years. Currently, the fund supports fifty students each year and will continue to grow in depth and breadth of impact as additional support is secured.
Ensuring the financial sustainability of this key student assistance program and significantly improving the experience for our qualified students are priorities within the Forever Pennington campaign. Gifts of any amount qualify for the match and can be directed either to provide annual support for the Student Assistance Fund or to the corresponding endowment to ensure that the program continues in perpetuity. Once the School has secured the matching funds, the Ford grant will provide annual support for the Student Assistance Fund for a three-year period. All community members are invited to be part of this exciting funding initiative and take advantage of the $100,000 matching grant. I have treasured becoming part of the grandparent community here at Pennington and seeing my grandson (Jack ’27) grow and thrive. Volunteering with the Pennington Fund is a true joy. I enjoy working with other grandparents and staff at the School to achieve goals that will help every single student at Pennington. Phil Prassas ’99 P’28 ’31 is all in when it comes to Pennington! As an alumnus and parent of two students, Phil shows us what it means to give back through his time, talent, and treasure. He serves on the Alumni Association Board and the Pennington Leadership Council. He is recognized as a member of the 1838 Society and loyal donor to the Pennington Fund with decades of consecutive giving.
“I see supporting Pennington as a wise investment. It holds a special place in my heart, where the value of community and giving back was deeply ingrained. I have confidence that Pennington will persist in nurturing students who excel holistically—academically, athletically, mentally, and socially.
