Enbridge Gas’ $250,000 donation to the Safe Community Project Assist will benefit 50 Fire Departments across Ontario and Brant County is one of them
On October 18th , Enbridge Gas presented the County of Brant Fire Department with a $5,000 cheque to be used to help purchase firefighting training materials to assist in lifesaving techniques. The donation comes from the Safe Community Project Assist, a program operated by the Fire Marshal’s Public Fire Safety Council (FMPFSC), which supplements existing training for Ontario volunteer and composite fire departments in the communities where Enbridge Gas operates.
“At Enbridge Gas, safety is at the core of what we do. Providing support to Ontario firefighters with emergency response training, we’re equipping the heroes of tomorrow to better protect the communities we live and work in keeping them healthy and vibrant,” says Al Duesling, Supervisor Field Operations, Southeast Region, Enbridge Gas.
Enbridge Gas is Canada’s largest natural gas storage, transmission and distribution company based in Ontario, with 2023 marking its 175th anniversary of serving customers
This year’s $250,000 donation will be shared by 50 Ontario fire departments. Since the launch of Safe Community Project Assist in 2012, 344 grants have been provided to Ontario fire departments for additional firefighter training.
“Fire departments train every single day and that’s why it’s important for them to have access to the right materials to keep their members and the public safe. Safe Community Project Assist helps departments afford some of these training tools and improves the ongoing learning that occurs across Ontario,” says Jon Pegg, Ontario Fire Marshal, and Chair of the FMPFSC
Local dignitaries and members of the fire department were on hand to accept the cheque Wednesday afternoon County of Brant Fire Chief Darren Watson commented, “We are incredibly grateful to Enbridge Gas for their generous donation to the County of Brant Fire Department. Having these additional funds to purchase training materials can provide life-saving resources to our firefighters.”
