The Cordage District, with its industrial charm and historic significance, provides a fitting backdrop for a brewery. The area has witnessed a resurgence in recent years, becoming a hotspot with a mix of breweries, events, and creative spaces. Sassy Britches is thrilled to contribute to the district's vibrancy, offering a destination for locals and visitors alike to gather, share stories, and savour unique brews

While Mash Paddle has left a mark on Brantford's craft beer scene, Sassy Britches aims to build upon that legacy, embracing change as a catalyst for growth and exploration. They are currently working on some new recipes, and decor and are hoping to be open soon for business. I suggest following along on their social media on Facebook @SassyBritchesBrewingCo and Instagram @sassybritchesbrewing for all the updates and so you won’t miss opening day once announced!

I am happy to see another brewery moving into this space considering 2024 has witnessed a rise in closures of craft breweries across Ontario and while the reasons behind some of these closures are complex, one undeniable truth emerges: supporting local businesses is important in sustaining the unique tapestry to our communities. Taprooms often become social hubs where locals gather to share stories, enjoy live music, and experience the unique flavours that define their community. The closure these breweries is not just a loss of a business; it's a diminishment of the social fabric that binds people together. So the fact that they are filling this space with another craft brewery is great news for the community

I thank Teddy for starting Mash Paddle all those years ago and providing a great space to hang with friends and create a lot of fun memories over a beer. We wish you continued success in whatever adventure you pursue next. To Sassy Britches, I look forward to wetting my whistle in the same brick walls but with a new twist that is your own.

The end of the Mash Paddle era and the transformation into Sassy Britches is not just a change in name; it's a celebration of continuity, evolution, and the enduring spirit of craft beer in the heart of Brantford. The Cordage District's brewing journey continues, and with Sassy Britches at the helm, it promises to be a captivating chapter in the city's craft beer narrative
