Greetings Paris People, hope your January had joy and that you had a chance to imbibe in some of the exciting and energizing things available this month for those who like to learn, grow and move I’m back with a few more recommendations for you and the theme for February is food, and I don’t mean diet culture stuff, I mean opportunities to engage with food to expand your knowledge, palate, capacity for pleasure and chef skills.

Food is synonymous with community too, bringing people together, helping them to thrive, be well, and to connect. The Paris branch of the Brant County Library is offering all those things throughout February with their foodie themed events: February Feasting; on Wednesday, the 14th they’re offering a very cozy and comforting evening of Warm

Winter Drinks Expand your culinary skills into barista tricks and alchemy top tips, drop in from 7 PM to 8 PM to learn and sip a delicious thing or two; registrations is required, all ingredients supplied, just bring your favourite mug! Branch 29 Legion is ready to get things spicy in February with their Annual Chili Challenge Cookoff Fundraiser, happening on Saturday the 17th at the Paris Legion, 70 William Street With chili contestant tastings from 12 PM to 330 PM and all efforts for a good cause: profits go to building renovation projects at the Legion. If you’re reading this, agog, thinking: but I make the bestest chili in all of Paris, Ontario!

Then get in touch with the Chili Challenge Cookout Fundraiser committee on royhaggart@rogers com to register yourself or your team of two into the fundraising fun, and may the odds be ever in your favour.

Finish off your month of sweetness with Paris Sweetheart Dessert Fest + Shopping Market at the Paris Fairgrounds, run by KB Events Canada; a food and vendor market with gratis mini workshops, lots of freebies and goodies galore running from the 24th 10AM - 4 PM to 25th from 10 AM - 3 PM. Get there early in you can, the first twenty-five people get swag bag gifts, and then you’ll get your pick of these tasty treats and all the vibrant vendors available. A nice way to wrap up a sweet month!
