Camp Phoenix, an immersive five-day camp designed to empower the next generation of women fire fighters, produced another 19 graduates last Sunday. Campers trained for 5 days and participated in various fire training exercises: ladders, ropes, knots & hoisting, extrication, search and rescue, live fire demonstrations, forcible entry, aerial, hydrants and hoses and firefighter survival. The week ended with the PhoenixFit Challenge, where campers competed as platoons to finish a fire obstacle course the fastest. The course consisted of: Deploying 2 hoses lines, making adequate connections, and hitting a target with the hose stream, Breaching a door and completing an outdoor maze, filling a garbage can with water using a bucket brigade strategy and pulling a fire truck over the finish line.
