Yield to Green Flashing Lights in Paris & Brant! Have you ever seen a flashing green light in a vehicle? Wonder what it means? In the County of Brant, 185 volunteer firefighters are trained and ready to respond. The County’s firefighters respond to fire, medical emergencies, water rescues and car accidents, to name a few. To get to the Fire Hall or the emergency, they must drive their personal vehicle which is equipped with flashing green lights. The flashing green lights let other motorists know they are en route to an emergency. When you see a flashing green light, please safely pull over or yield to let the vehicle pass. Every second counts when responding to an emergency and the difference of a few minutes could be life or death. Under the Highway Traffic Act, volunteer firefighters are not granted any special privileges. However, if you see the green light and have the ability to safely pull over, please yield and let them pass.

Twin Ford Parts Centre Coming To Paris As Distribution Pivot Takes Shape
“In order to improve customer satisfaction and expedite parts delivery time to dealers, Ford will be opening a new parts depot in Eastern Ontario and a new location west of Toronto to continue servicing Canada’s most heavily populated region,” Ford Canada spokeswoman Rose Pao told Automotive News Canada in an email last year. “As a result of the two new locations in Ontario, Ford will no longer operate out of the current Bramalea Parts Distribution Center once the new locations open.” see full article https://fordauthority.com/2021/09/ford -parts-center-coming-to-ottawa-asdistribution-pivot-takes-shape/
According to Ford authority’s website: To better rationalize the distribution of parts, the company will spend $95 million to construct a 500,000 square-foot building in Casselman, Ontario. Its twin is slated to be built in Paris Ontario, and both are expected to fully replace the Bramalea building, which is a 900,000 square-foot structure.

The growth and development of our members starts with those who offer their time and efforts. Without the time and efforts of our coaches, an organization like PMHA is unable to function.

Distillery Lane Trail temporary closure and washroom update at Paris Lions Park Distillery Lane Trail will be closed starting September 20, 2021 for six weeks due to sanitary line replacement. The washrooms by the Walter Williams Amphitheatre will be closed while this work is completed. Washrooms are available at the Paris Firefighters Pavilion (located in the north end of Lions Park past the ball diamonds) until October 4th.
The Province of Ontario has issued a mandatory proof of vaccination requirement which comes into effect on September 22, 2021. The purpose of the proof of vaccination requirement is to help control the spread of COVID-19 in the community and protect the health and wellbeing of citizens, healthcare workers and the healthcare system. The proof of vaccination requirement requires people to provide proof of being fully vaccinated* prior to entering the indoor area of recreational facilities such as the County’s community centres and arenas. All Ontarians receiving a vaccine, whether at first dose or second dose, are provided a receipt at the time of vaccination. A paper copy of the receipt is provided on site and an email version is sent to the email address provided by the vaccine recipient for the person’s records. Vaccination receipts can be downloaded or printed through the COVID-19 vaccination provincial portal https://covid19.ontariohealth.ca/ or obtained by calling the Provincial Vaccine Booking Line at 1.833.943.3900. In October, the Province of Ontario will offer a digital means to provide proof of vaccination.

The Cowan Foundation Gifts a Major Donation to the Brant Community Health Hub
The County of Brant has received an $800,000 donation from the Cowan Foundation for the Brant Community Health Hub! “The Cowan Foundation has gifted a major donation that will make a significant impact on the health and wellbeing of our community. Having access to quality health care and social services in the County of Brant is critical as we continue to meet the growing needs of people in our community. We are beyond grateful to Cowan,” said Mayor David Bailey. “To honour this tremendous donation, the building will be renamed the Cowan Community Health Hub. This establishment will provide much needed local health care and social services to our citizens.” This significant gift brings the County to 80% of the $2 million dollar fundraising campaign goal. “The Cowan Foundation is thrilled to extend our support to this project that will provide an integrated approach to health care for County residents. Our organization has deep roots in the County of Brant, both from a business and personal perspective. My Uncle Bob Cowan was a proud and committed resident and business leader in Paris. The County of Brant honours the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30, 2021. “We recognize the ongoing trauma caused by residential and day schools, and remember those who were lost, survivors and their families,” said Mayor David Bailey. “I encourage all citizens to take action to become better educated about this tragic history and to build a better future together.” To mark the day, County flags will be lowered to half-mast, an “Every Child Matters” flag will be raised at the downtown Paris location and the Paris dam will be lit orange. Reconciliation is the responsibility of every Canadian. Here are a few things you can do: Learn about and acknowledge the past to ensure history never repeats. Let go of negative perceptions and stereotypes and work towards solidarity. To learn more, read documents such as the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Calls to Action and the National Inquiry on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls Calls for Justice and visit the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation website. Take a tour of a former residential school site such as the Woodland Cultural Centre (virtual tours are currently available). Make a donation to the Woodland Cultural Centre and the Save the Evidence Campaign or support or volunteer for local Indigenous organizations. Wear an orange shirt on September 30 to stand in solidarity. Attend Indigenous cultural events open to the public. Participate at a local Library. The County of Brant Public Library events include: A Storybook Walk of the children’s book Phyllis’s Orange Shirt, written by Phyllis Webstad; illustrated by Brock Nicol. The story will be placed in Lions Park in Paris and will be available starting at 10:00 am and will remain up until 8:00 pm. Families are invited throughout the day, to visit the park and read the story. Activities for children will be available for pick up at any of the library branches. The ‘Every Child Matters: My Orange Shirt’ allows children to create and design their own orange shirt, then colour, cut-out and display. Copies of an Orange Shirt Day reading list, with titles available in our collection for children, teens and adults are available. Brant County - County of Brant Public Library and County of Brant announce historic location of new main library The new Main Branch Library will feature a blend of old and new elements. Accessible, open community spaces, quiet study rooms, and technology labs will blend with heritage features like original brick and stone. The original opera hall will be restored to its former glory and equipped for modern performances and live events.
“There
is a wonderful synergy with combining these two projects” says Brant Mayor David Bailey. “A main library with a performance space like this will be a huge asset for all County residents, and will kick start the rejuvenation of Paris’ upper town.” Work on the project will begin this fall with the search for an architectural design firm. Construction is anticipated to start in 2022 and be completed by 2024.
