Please be sure to have several options for your desired dates so we can accommodate you properly.

Three intentions are accepted for all scheduled Masses, except for Ash Wednesday, Christmas, Easter and the Sacred Triduum. It is appropriate for you or the family of the deceased to attend the Mass when celebrated.

The suggested stipend for a Mass intention is $10.00 & has been set by the N.J. Bishops in the Province of Newark.

Every effort will be made to satisfy all requests, however in some cases the intention availability for a date you are requesting may be filled before your appointment and you will be asked to choose another date.

After initial Mass Book opening, requests may be submitted using this multi-intention form or a Mass Request Envelope. Availability of dates is on a first-come first served basis.

The members of the Mass Book team do not have authority to make exceptions, so please do not ask them to do so.

Musical Notations – Back2School Well, hello there, friends! I hope you had a wonderful & restful summer. As we embark on another scholastic year, the liturgical year never stops! We are now entering Ordinary Time III. As we shift gears into this season, we change the Mass setting to Alonso’s Joy and Peace, as well as the Common Psalms (more on this next week) A number of you have been so kind and gracious in your remarks to the music ministry…why not get involved? Here is everything you need to know, but were afraid to ask!

Marian Handbells – we are taking a fresh approach to rehearsals!

Rehearsals for the Christmas season will begin the first Thursday of November (November 3rd) at 7:00 pm, and every subsequent Thursday until Christmas Eve. Until then, we will have scheduled handbell workshops on selected Thursday evenings to welcome new members or those who just want to learn more about this unique & beautiful ministry!

First workshop is Thursday September 21st at 7:00 pm in the Music Room.

Youth Choir – (first grade and up) Same as the handbells! 7 week commitment to sing for the Christmas season. We will begin on Monday, November 6th at 4:30 to 5:30 pm and every subsequent Monday until Christmas to prepare angelic music for even our youngest voices. Have younger children? Not a problem! Bring the cherubs (ages 3-6) for the first 15 minutes of practice to learn a few very special songs for Christmas!

Magnificat Choir- (parish choir: 8th grade through adult) this choir sings over 40 appearances throughout the liturgical year. Choir members learn solid vocal techniques, choral blending and artistry, practice habits, as well as a wide of variety of music as the church is old…everything from ancient chants composed 1600 years ago to contemporary selections! Appropriate for all ages over 14; sight reading skills are encouraged, but not a must. We meet Mondays in the church at 7:30 PM Cantoring Program and Schola Cantorum – audition/ invitation only. Inquire with Lauren Walters for more details.

If sponsors are available, they are most welcome to come to the practice and celebrate Penance and Reconciliation with the candidates and parents. Service should be concluded by 8:30 pm.

The Rite of Confirmation Friday, 6 October Ceremony Time: 4:00 pm (Arrival time is EARLIER) Plan to arrive no later than 2:45 pm!

Candidates, sponsors, and parents gather in Madonna Hall in order to check in, take group pictures with the Bishop, and line up in order to be in the church prior to 3:45 pm. All relatives and friends should plan on being seated in the church prior to 3:45 pm.

Quo vadis…

My Dear Parishioners: Today we celebrate the Twenty-Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time. The second reading for this Sunday speaks in its own way of the paschal mystery and also of why we forgive one another. “None of us lives for oneself ” because we “live for the Lord.” Our relationship to each other is described in terms of our relationship to God. Christ’s dying and rising models for us our own dying and rising.

Forgiving is dying to damaged relationships so that we might all belong to the Lord. Forgiving means God has hold of us and enables us to act in a God-like manner.

Last week the annual Convocation of Priests of the Diocese of Trenton was a great opportunity for us to be together and consider our priestly life and how we can grow as priests and serve the People of God in our Diocese of Trenton. I am appreciative to our parish staff and the scores of volunteers who keep the day to day operation of our parish moving forward. It is so awesome to see those who have made the commitment to assist us in the parish office as receptionists and taking on some of the regular responsibilities for managing our parish records. Congratulations to the Martha Mary Guild on another very successful clothing drive. The energy

and enthusiasm radiated throughout these hallowed buildings as shoppers were warmly greeted and those of very limited means were treated with tremendous dignity and respect. Well done. Start setting aside items for next year!
