No Food and Drink in Church. The exceptions would be a drink for small children, water for the priest or choir (if discreet) and water for those who are ill. Bringing a snack into church is not appropriate, because we want to set the church apart as a place of prayer and reflection.

Dress modestly and appropriately. Wear your Sunday Best. As Catholics we believe that God comes down to meet us at every Mass. So, why would we not dress up?

Show up at least a few minutes early. If for some reason you can’t be on time, then try to sit in the back so you don’t disturb others.

Getting to Mass early allows you to pray and prepare yourself better for Mass.

Quo vadis…

My Dear Parishioners: Today we celebrate the Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time.

By inviting us to come to him and take up his yoke, we in turn become the revelation of God to the world. We usually think of the difficult yoke we carry with Jesus in terms of suffering and dying to self, and surely that is one part of it. But this gospel suggests another aspect of the yoke—ourselves being a revelation of God to the world—which is perhaps even more difficult. In order to take up faithfully this mission to reveal God, we must hand our lives over to Jesus such that the risen One can dwell within us. This means, too, that all our actions must conform to how Jesus himself might have lived. We must be constantly open to the revelation Jesus makes to us, be open to the many ways Jesus comes to us. Only in this way can we be a revelation of God to others.

The “rest” Jesus offers, then, really carries great demand—to share in Jesus’ mission to make known the Father.

This week we welcome at the 12:00 Noon Mass the children and their families who are participating in the July Module of our Summer Intensive Religious Education Program. There will be an orientation presentation following the Mass. Please pray for these families and their catechists who teach them about our Roman Catholic Faith.

The campus comes alive during these weeks when the children are present. They enjoy every aspect of our facilities and grounds and encounter aspects of their faith that are

not possible during the drop off program or when registered for the on-line program.

During these modules held in July and August use of our parish facilities are restricted for other use in accord with the guidelines provided by the safe environment program. Thank you for your cooperation.

Next weekend, Msgr. Troiano will be away and Fr. Victor, who was scheduled now has a scheduling conflict, so we will welcome Reverend Fr. Kevin Kimtis to celebrate the 10:00 am & 12:00 noon Masses. Fr. Kimtis is a priest of our Diocese of Trenton who served with me as a seminarian when I was assigned as a Pastor in the City of Trenton.

He has been studying Canon Law at the Gregorian University, Rome. Recently Fr. Kimtis has been invited to study at the Pontifical Academy in preparation for possible service in the Vatican Diplomatic Corps. Let us welcome him to our parish and pray for him as he continues his studies and preparation to represent the Holy See wherever he might be assigned throughout the world.

Preparations continue for the Love Thy Neighbor: 45th Anniversary of the Establishment of Our Parish on this campus.

The Martha Mary Guild Board at the “In and Out” Luncheon The annual “In and Out” Luncheon, at which the Martha Mary Guild welcomes new Board members and thanks those that have served their Guild well, had a different “twist” this year. On May 24th, we had a wonderful Tea at the Lillagaard Inn in Ocean Grove, which is a beautiful Bed and Breakfast and Tea House. Jane Wehr, who has been the owner (with her husband, Dick) for the past 20 years, explained the proper Tea etiquette and components as we were served “like British royalty”! It was delicious, fun and very interesting to tour her three story Bed and Breakfast, filled with magnificent antiques and offering splendid ocean views.
