FRUIT OF THE WORD The seed is the word of God. The agricultural metaphors in all of today's readings give richness to the message that the word of God, cultivated in our hearts, bears much fruit in our lives. Creation itself awaits the redemption of all, even as our bodies await the resurrection. Just as we will rejoice in the fulfillment of God's word, so will all of creation sing for joy in the Reign of God. The word of God is effective and holy; it brings about exactly what it says. It is not futile or empty, but rich in meaning for those who hear and are healed. Those who hear the word of God and keep it will, with all creation, bear much fruit and sing for joy. Dear Friends of the Mercer County Chapter at St. Mary's Catholic Church: We would like to take this opportunity to offer our most sincere gratitude to you for your $375.00 donation, made towards adopting a seat for a child on the 2017 Mercer County Dreamlift. The 2017 Dreamlift offers approximately onehundred chronically ill, seriously ill, physically/mentally challenged and abused children, the opportunity to experience what is likely be the most exciting day of their life. The special children who will make up these Dreamlifts, know a great deal about the struggles that come with having a chronic illness, but very little about the joy that comes with receiving the trip of their dreams. How many times have they fantasized about visiting Disney World, but never thought it would really happen? Thanks to you and the other Dreamlift donors, they will no longer have to try to imagine what it would be like to visit their fantasy destination. For decades, Mercer County Dreamlifts have been a very important event in the Mercer County area and each year tons of volunteers, mascots, Disney characters and well-wishers attend this special send off. As the plane departs for Disney World all who attended know that they will never forget the emotions they witnessed on these children faces or how it made them feel in their hearts to be a part of this sendoff celebration. Join us in wishing these children a magical trip that will create memories they can hold in their hearts forever. Sincerely, Catherine DiCostanzo President Mercer County Chapter

Summer Intensive 2 : August 7 – 11 & 14 - 18 Sunday August 6th 12 noon Mass, then proceed to Madonna Hall immediately afterward.
Mass Etiquette: Things To Do And Not Do While at Mass Cell phones should never be used in Mass for calls or texting. The exceptions are emergencies (big ones, not everyday ones) and if you do use one, please walk out of church to do so. Also, if you are using the phone for readings or prayers, this is appropriate, but try to be discreet. Please be quiet while in church. Once you enter the sanctuary – it is not the time or place to visit with those around you. If you must talk do so as quietly and briefly as possible. Remember that your conversation might be disturbing someone who is in prayer, which is much more important. Sssshhhhhhhh. www.aggiecatholicblog.org

Quo vadis… My Dear Parishioners: Today we celebrate the Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time. Only seed that sinks into rich soil can produce fruit; we must let God’s word sink deep within us so that it can bear fruit in our lives! Most of us hear God’s word proclaimed primarily during the Liturgy of the Word on Sundays. It is naïve to think that we can go to Mass cold, without having prepared the readings, and be attuned enough to God’s word to hear and remember the message well enough to live it. One way to live the paschal mystery is to take quality time each week—alone or with others—to sit with God’s word and become attuned to the message. If we invite others to join us then we are even taking up Jesus’ mission to teach others of God’s wonderful deeds of salvation. This coming week we will continue with our Summer Intensive Religious Education program. We are blessed with facilities that enable us to develop such initiatives throughout the summer months. This style of RE is designed to help families balance the many demands on their time throughout the year with more and more heads of household working outside the home, greater commuting distances and increased involvement in local and travel sports teams. We are fortunate to have as our catechetical staff some teachers from Catholic Schools in our area who are fully compliant with VIRTUS Safe Environment Standards and Certified Catechists. I am grateful to our staff for the efforts they have put into offering this for our parish families and to the parents for their openness and cooperation especially during the various
listening sessions that were held along the way. Together, we will continue to build on the strong tradition of Faith Formation that makes our community a great parish. The Summer months provide us with all sorts of possibilities to be outdoors, to share time with family and friends as well as with the Lord when we gather for Mass. Sometimes we get mixed messages from the Church. Programs end for the Summer, some ministries stop, etc…. However, the invitation to come and pray together each and every Sunday (Saturday Eve) does not end for the Summer. Our need for the Eucharist is not seasonal. I do recognize that there are some among us who are blessed with a second home to enjoy throughout the Summer months, and I trust that Sunday Mass is part of your routines. However, for those of us who remain home, let us not neglect our obligation and the need we have to support one another in our parish community. We are in the early stages of preparing our Annual Stewardship Report for Calendar Year 2016 and Fiscal Year Ending 30 June 2017. The staff as well as other parish leaders will put a lot of time into providing you with an accurate and transparent report of the goals for the coming year(s) as well as the successes and challenges of the past year. You should have this document available sometime mid October 2017. This document will be posted online and emailed to all of our registered parishioners. Have a great week. Let us remember one another in prayer. Happy Sunday. Peace. Father Jeff
