Quo vadis… My Dear Parishioners: Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Epiphany of Our Lord. What does it mean for our everyday life to have the glory of the Lord shine upon us? What happens if we would lead our life as if the star stopped on us? The answer to these questions is most startling when we consider the Gospel as a whole: what it means and what happens is that the only way to light and life is to die to self so that darkness can be overcome. Living the paschal mystery means that even in this joyous season the cross is not far away. Salvation means emptying oneself just as Jesus did—from his very birth. Salvation is manifested in our self-emptying. Life has its pits and its thorns. It also has its cherries and roses: the mystery of salvation has been revealed in Jesus. And continues to be revealed in us. Due to the early transmission of our parish bulletins, I would like to thank all those who have shared so generously of their time and talent to serve our community. There were scores and scores of parishioners who participated as a liturgical minister throughout the past few weeks. A special word of thanks to our parish music ministers. There has been a lot of preparation as we continue to build our repertoire of sacred music, especially polyphony and Gregorian chant. The talent within our community is awe inspiring. May we continue to strive for the very best in our worship of God.
A new calendar year has begun. What will be the priorities in our lives? The search for balance is an on-going challenge for many of us. Work-Play-Service-Family-Church-PrayerHealthy Eating-Exercise are but a few of the ingredients to wholesome spiritual living. We need to be conscious about our daily choices and how they move us forward or hold us back from becoming our very best self. Let’ us not choose to let this important opportunity slip before us because of our indifference or maybe even our own stubbornness. In the name of our parish staff I would like to wish everyone a very Happy, Healthy and Holy New Year. We have so many blessings in our lives for which we are to be grateful. Cultivating an attitude of gratitude is one way in which we distinguish ourselves from others. The Eucharist is the place where we are reminded of the many and varied blessings in our lives. So let us be a people of gratitude not just at this time, but throughout the year. In the coming weeks we will provide you with an accounting of the 2017 Christmas Collection. If you have not made your gift to the Christmas Collection as of this time, please do so in these coming weeks. Have a great week. Let us remember one another in prayer. Happy New Year. Happy Sunday. Peace. Father Jeff

January Book Club Meeting: Wednesday, January 17, 2018 4:30 - 6:00pm Room #17 The Art of Getting Over Yourself by Jon Leonetti ABOUT THE BOOK: When our lives stop being about us, when we cease being self‐important and become others‐ centered, when we finally let go of all those things that hold us back: selfishness, resentment, ego, the illusion of self‐sufficiency, the plans we have for our lives without respect to God, the mistakes we’ve made that we can't let go, this is when we can really start living and loving as we were always meant to do. And it's also the first and best step toward true and las ng happiness what you've always wanted, what you’ve always been looking for.

"And so I think if we keep our heart at peace, then our home with Jesus becomes more and more and more secure. And there's where single‐mindedness comes in. We have to have a single mind. What do I desire? I desire Jesus, and there He is." ‐Mother Angelica
