MODEL 1: COLLABORATIVE PARISHES: A formal cooperative relationship is formed among parishes in order to serve a unified mission.

Parishes become collaborative when they enter into formal cooperative relationships with other parishes for the sake of jointly promoting the Gospel and the New Evangelization, preparing and garnering resources for in -depth prayer and worship experiences, presenting comprehensive life-long Christian formation practices, and being advocates for and serving people who are most in need.

One of the underlying values of Collaborative Parishes is being good stewards of spiritual, human, and temporal resources. Collaborative Parishes seek to avoid unnecessary duplication of staff, facilities, and services, so that they are able to expand ministry and meet needs that currently go unmet. Even parishes with ample resources or parishes with unique needs and ministries often consider the Collaborative model to enhance what they are already doing, or to develop new ministries which would be more effective if done with other parishes.

Some characteristics of well-functioning Collaborative Parishes include, but are not limited to, the following: • Common training of catechists and liturgical ministers • Parts of youth ministry programs held in common, such as service projects, retreats, and mission trips • Jointly planned and implemented adult formation programs • Sharing of some staff • Developing priestly, religious, diaconal, and lay ministry vocation strategies • Staff in-services, parish council in-services, etc.

• Joint outreach programs, i.e. food pantries, sharing space for AA meetings, etc., cooperative programs with Catholic Charities • Mutually beneficial sharing of programs and other resources among and between urban, suburban, and/or rural parishes • Training RCIA and various catechetical teams.

Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time: CHOICE "If you choose you can keep the commandments," Sirach tells us. God "has set before you fire and water; to whichever you choose, stretch forth your hand" (Sirach 15:15, 16). This is a great mystery: God does not control us so completely that we cannot choose our own path.

We have certain boundaries, of course, but no one but we can choose our way within those boundaries.

In today's reading from Matthew's Gospel, Jesus reminds us of our freedom and our responsibility for our lives. He calls us to look beyond the words of the commandments, all the way to their meaning. Look beyond the adultery to the selfishness that poisons our love. Look beyond the murder to the anger that eats away at our compassion.

Look beyond the perjured testimony to the lies and deception that drive our behavior.

Our vocation is to choose life for ourselves, and to choose a path through our part of the world that helps make life possible and more abundant for others as well.

Summer Intensive 2017 dates Summer Intensive 1 : July 10 – 14 & 17 – 21 Summer Intensive 2 : August 7 – 11 & 14 - 18

Grades available for the Summer Intensive Program: Grades 1-6 (those children entering these grades in September 2017) on a first come, first serve basis.

Families must be registered active parishioners whose children have been in the Religious Education program for at least one year (with the exception of first graders). However all families must be registered parishioners for 1 year prior to enrolling.

Times: Each session will include a Family Orientation starting with 12 noon Mass and ending at approximately 2 pm.

Session 1: Sunday, 9 J uly 12 noon Mass - 2pm.

Session 2: Sunday, 6 August 12 noon Mass - 2pm (updated date) Followed by classes Monday- Friday 8:30am -12:30pm.

Reduced Tuition: From Feb 1st through March 31st is $200 per child. From April 1st on, the tuition rate of $250 a child will apply.

Program Expectations: Each family would be expected to participate in 4 intergenerational events throughout the school year.

Including the Advent and/or Lenten Penance and Reconciliation services. More details are outlined on the Intergenerational web-page.

Registration process: For your convenience, all registration is online with a credit card payment, through the parish web-site and Pay-Pal. When will you know you are accepted: You will receive an email concerning your admission status soon after your application form has been reviewed and acceptance established.

Quo vadis‌ My Dear Parishioners: Today we celebrate the Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time. We continue to be taught through the scriptures the practice of authenticity. That is, we, as Catholic Christians, are to strive for transparency and to avoid all temptations of cunning or deceit. We are to seek to find the Lord in the everydayness of daily living.

We are to recognize the sacramentality of relationships and our leadership role in family life, civic community and church.

When we abrogate these responsibilities, we are not living the paschal mystery as we ought. These are all part of what it means for us to become more Christ-like, better witnesses to our faith, stronger ambassadors for Christ.

I mentioned last weekend that there has been a surge in new parishioner registrations in our parish. I was chatting with some local leaders and they too commented that home sales in 07722 have picked up since the new year. This is a good sign for our community and a wonderful tribute to all of you. I have been noticing some new faces as I stand in the gathering space each week. Accordingly, our Mass attendance continues to increase steadily.

We are receiving requests for greater involvement in our parish ministries. These are all positive indicators that our parish continues on a healthy trajectory as we continue the mission of building the church in our midst.

Please visit our parish website for lots of information. We have posted our Stewardship Report for Calendar Year 2015 and Fiscal Year 2015-2016. This is provided to better inform you, our parishioner stakeholders, how we are serving the needs of our community. Thank you for your involvement, prayer and sharing.

There is also information regarding Faith in Our Future recommendations that have been announced by His Excellency, The Most Reverend Bishop of Trenton. Preparations are well underway for the Season of Lent. Please consult the bulletin for information regarding: Ash Wednesday; Faith-Sharing groups are forming; Soup & Stations; The Lenten Penance & Reconciliation Service; The Easter Sunday Schedule of Masses will be celebrated in the Church. We will soon resume our regular Weekend Mass Schedule. I have received a lot of positive feedback regarding the Saturday 4:00 pm Mass throughout the winter months. Some have asked if this could be our year round Saturday Evening Mass Time beginning Fall of 2017? I am open to it. What do you think? Let one of our staff persons know what you think about this possibility. The Sunday Evening Mass would remain the same time and offered during same period of months. Thank you for responsibly sharing your insights and suggestions so that we might better serve our parishioners. Let us commend all of our efforts to the intercession of Mary, Seat of Wisdom.

Monsignor Troiano has been with us for one year. I think he has adjusted well to our community and is enjoying being a part of Saint Mary Parish. I also hear from many of you that Monsignor is a nice addition to our clergy team.

Thanks Monsignor. Thanks Parishioners for being so welcoming. Next weekend I will be representing our parish at the ceremony formally elevating Saint Robert Bellarmine Church to the status of Co-Cathedral for the Bishop of the Diocese of Trenton.
