FTMM update as of 7/27 Total $1,390,294 Pledges 196 Average $7,094
Saint Mary Parish MINIMUM goal, as established by the Diocese of Trenton, was $1,250,000 in which we included 3 years of the parish’s contribution to the Annual Catholic Appeal.
Those in Active Military Service
However the parish’s NECESSARY goal is $2,250,000.
God of compassion, we pray for military personnel, offered for the sake of others, and separated from family and loved ones. Care for them; meet their needs. Grant them courage, compassion, strength, and all they need for the living of these days. Sustain them through their every trial. Remind them of the humanity they share even with those who are called "the enemy;" through Jesus Christ our Lord we pray. Amen.
NOTE: 70% of all gifts received after reaching our minimum goal come back (rebate) to the parish and will go into a restricted fund to be used only for the 3 items in the case statement. We received our first FTMM rebate of $35,369 this month. The money is isolated and restricted until all the FTMM rebates have been received.
Thank you to all parishioners for continuing to make your pledge payments on time. Thank you for your generosity!

As we all know, young children love to play and get their hands dirty. They had such a wonderful time digging in the soil to plant the flowers. Our children would like to thank Linda Dickinson-Pancila for including them in this project. They had a great time helping and can’t wait to do it again next year!

Quo vadis… My Dear Parishioners: Today we celebrate the Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time. The Canaanite woman’s single mindedness on behalf of her daughter is rewarded with her being healed. This gospel challenges us to be just as single minded about placing our request before God, and also just as single minded about our own inclusive ministry to others. It is interesting that the Canaanite woman’s cry to Jesus was that he “have pity on me” (not on her daughter, although that is surely implied in the request). This gives us an insight into our inclusivity and ministry: we must be so “at one” with others that their plight is our own plight. Ministry is more than doing for another; it implies an empathy with another that discloses the unity we share as members of the body of Christ. One dimension of living the paschal mystery is that we work to increase our unity with one another, which in turn draws us to reach out to others in mercy and compassion, no matter who they are. This weekend we welcome Father Mathieu Herve Mboudou, who is visiting our parish to share with us the important work of the Church in his country on the African Continent. This Mission Co-op is part of our Catholic Church’s global outreach. It is coordinated and overseen by the Society for the Propagation of the Faith. There will a second collection to support the Catholic Church’s missionary work in Father’s home diocese. Thank you for your continued generous support of the missions both foreign and domestic.
Our Summer Religious Education Program second module has concluded. I have received many positive comments from parents and the participants as well. We are very blessed to have a dedicated teaching/ catechetical staff, many of whom continue with us each year. Our facilities are also tremendous for this kind of program. We will continue to evaluate this program and strive to offer the very best faith formation opportunities for our parishioner families. The Summer months are quickly passing. Make sure to take some time and enjoy the Summer sun. Make a visit to the beach. Take a walk on the sand or the boardwalk. Enjoy the beauty of creation that is all around us. We have many beautiful parks throughout Monmouth County for public enjoyment. As the days become shorter, the glimpse of autumn becomes more apparent. The Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, patroness of our Diocese of Trenton was a nice celebration due to the fact that our Summer Intensive students were present. Generally, parishioner attendance was not so stellar…? I suppose that we will need some conversation about this and what we might be able to do to promote these Holy Days of Obligation better throughout our parish community. I am away for a few days and will return Tuesday evening. Many thanks to those priests and our staff for continuing to serve the needs of our parishioners. Have a great week. Let us pray for one another. Happy Sunday. Peace. Father Jeff
